24.01.2022 There may still be some trading space so please contact the show liaison, Carol, if interested. Contact details on Victorian Gem Clubs website.

24.01.2022 Hi all, we are looking for quartz and tourmaline this month 18 / 04 / 21. Meet at 9 am Sunday morning out the front of the old wreckers on Walhalla rd. Moe. Bring creek fossicking gear and warm clothes although the forecast looks pretty good but anything can happen in the "mountains".... Contact Max or Kev if you are coming.

22.01.2022 Friday night we had a trivia night as our monthly social night. Sue had prepared some very interest questions. Out of the 3 teams and 3 games we all won 1 each so I suppose we are all winners. Thanks to Sue for organising a very interest (grey matter overload) night.

22.01.2022 Another excellent fieldtrip to Kitty Miller Bay Phillip Island, the weather behaved, the sun came out and we even found what we were looking for. Although the S.S. Speke looks a bit worse for wear. (Has been there since 1906)

20.01.2022 To All Members. Following a special meeting of our Club’s Executive committee, President Phil has asked me to advise all Members, that due to the current major health issues with Covid 19, a decision was made to cancel our April General Meeting. Factors taken in to account with the decision were advice taken from the Government ... Health Department, the quite small size of our meeting room, and the age of a lot of our members. The decision was not taken lightly and we apologise for any inconvenience to Members. Further decisions regarding future meetings will be made with full regard to the prevailing health situation at the time. Trevor Pickering On behalf of the Committee See more

20.01.2022 9 members attended the field trip today and the weather was just right for creek fossicking. Some nice pieces of quartz were found and not one snake.

18.01.2022 For all of our Members, who like me, were very disappointed when the 2020 Gemboree was cancelled due to the Covid 19 lockdown, you can start making plans for the 2021 Gemboree, which will be held in Hobart, Tasmania on April 2-5 2021. The Gemboree booklet with all the information you need can be found on the AFLACA site - www.aflaca.org.au with versions you can download depending on your systems capabilities. If you have never been to a Gemboree, this will be a great one to start with, in beautiful Tasmania.

17.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE: We would like to thank all members and interested potential members for your patience during this hectic year! Our normal calendar consists of no Dec meeting but instead a social Christmas lunch with a summer break occurring until February. However with the current restrictions we are unable to have any events until February. In line with the DHSS and Latrobe City Council's restrictions we are unable to open the club rooms to members due to the size of th...e clubroom and workshop. We must accommodate 4m2 per person which is unrealistic for any operational use to be productive. The workshop is still being developed as progress was being made earlier in the year between the lock downs but was stopped at the start of the 2nd lock down. Field trips are still able to be organised by our Field Trip officer however, only 10 members can attend an outdoor event. We hope to see you all in the new year at our February meeting and to make 2021 more productive and adventurous then 2020!

15.01.2022 Hello everyone, Just a quick reminder that our Annual General Meeting will be held this coming Sunday, March 1st. at our Vary Street Clubrooms, commencing at 2:00 pm. This is of course an important meeting for us, as we elect our Office Bearers and plan our schedule for the year 2020. Please make the effort to be there if you can.

15.01.2022 Welcome back to a new year! Our first meeting of the year will be tomorrow at our club rooms at 2pm. We look forward to seeing everyone and hearing about your holiday fossicking adventures over a cuppa at the end of the meeting

13.01.2022 Warragul Lapidary Club’s Rock Market is on Saturday February 20th. At the Warragul Showgrounds right beside their Clubrooms. This event is always a good opportunity to pick up some great bargains, and always attracts a great crowd. There will be sales of Mineral Rough, Gemstones, Cabs/slabs, beads & jewellery - so, put the date in your Diary...Feb 20th. 9:00am to 4:00 pm. ********************************

12.01.2022 Hi all, just a reminder that there is a meeting this Sunday. High on the agenda will be the forming of a workshop committee, we really need anyone that can help to turn up and put their hand up. President Phil.

11.01.2022 The Valencia creek weekend is on in March. We are going on the 7th, 8th and 9th. Field trips will be run over the weekend and hopefully we can run our annual damper competition. For bookings please ring the Valencia creek caravan park.

09.01.2022 For all of our Members and friends, we extend our best wishes to you for an enjoyable Easter. It is a whole lot different to what we would be normally doing at this time of year. A lot of us would be at the National Gemboree in Albury, some of us would be out fossicking or travelling, and we would all be enjoying the Easter break with our families and friends. Unfortunately due to the Covid 19 Virus situation, none of that is possible. So, we hope that you are all well and s...afe, and we look forward to things getting back to normal sooner rather than later. As soon as we can after the restrictions are lifted, we will get back to normal with our Club activities as soon as we can. In the meantime, I can report that we have received our building approval after meeting all of the necessary requirements. The stair rails and safety screens have been installed, and we can now start planning and implementing our requirements for the Workshop area. So, until we are able to get back to normal, we will continue to keep you posted via our Monthly Club Newsletter. Once again, best wishes to all of our Members and their families, please follow all the guidelines regarding you and your families health, and we will look forward to returning to normality sooner rather than later. 08.01.2022 Been busy out in the shed this Easter. The thunder egg was collected on our Valencia Creek weekend from antler corner and the spheres (2x) are granite from the Cann River area.

07.01.2022 Just a little update on how we are traveling with COVID-19 restrictions and how the club is looking at progressing in the near future. We have a field trip tomorrow which we are excited to hear all about, our workshop committee have been able to gather and discuss moving forward with our workshop now we are able to gather once more. Annual memberships are due!!! Normally they are paid at meetings however, we are now accepting BPAY, please feel free to check our newsletter or message us here in regards to how to BPAY. Lastly, WE HAVE A MEETING IN JULY!!! Being able to have 20 people within the clubrooms does mean attendance can only be at 20. We suggest if you are a family please only one member comes so another person can attend. The meeting will be July 5th at 2pm.

03.01.2022 Time for a update given the relaxed covid rules. For now we still can't have meetings, we can't guarantee less then 10 members would turn up. We may be able to run a field trip if the following rules are followed. Only 10 people can attend and social distancing and hygiene rules apply.... If more than 10 attend ie 14 then we would split into 2 groups. If the field trip officers would like to plan something that has the capacity to split into 2 groups, could they contact Trevor P or myself so we can run a newsletter to inform members. Stay safe and hopefully we get back to some form of normality sooner than latter. Phil.

02.01.2022 Here's some fossicking photos to get us in the mood and show you the terrain, don't let the long grass put you off this is one of those spots that always seems to produce.

02.01.2022 Sorry people we were going to try for a meeting in July but due to covid restrictions this will not be possible. Victoria has just revised the number of people at a public meeting from 20 down to 10.

02.01.2022 Well that's Our yearly trip to Valencia creek over with for another year. We had a great time with 25 members and some Warragul members attending over the weekend. Saturday nights dinner was well received with my favorite dish still Claudias Mediterranean hotpot. The damper competition was hotly contested with Zach taking out the prize for this year. The field trips on Saturday and Sunday were also well attended with some good quartz crystals being found at Mc Kinnons Point and lots of thunder eggs also found. The agates were a bit light on this year but Gordon from the Warragul club found an absolute ripper and Donna also found a really nice one. Lots of thanks to Rob and Leisa for supplying the fire wood and Max our field trip leader for running the activities over the weekend.
