16.01.2022 In our last meeting, Colin told us about his first 25 years. These meetings have been a great way for us all to get to know each other better. Colin grew up on a farm with about 45 cows (a lot less than farms today) and he has a passion for camping in the bush.

16.01.2022 WORLD POLIO DAY THIS SATURDAY Poliomyelitis, or polio, is a paralysing and potentially fatal disease that still threatens children in parts of the world. ... The disease invades the nervous system and can cause total paralysis in hours. It can strike people of any age but mainly affects children under five. Polio can be prevented by vaccines, but it is not curable. However, unlike most diseases, polio an be eradicated. For more than 30 years, Rotary and our partners have driven the effort to eradicate polio worldwide and there are now only 2 countries continuing to report wild polio cases. Rotary members have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries from this paralysing disease. Because of these efforts, nearly 19 million people who would otherwise have been paralysed are walking, and more than 1.5 million people are live who would otherwise have died. The Rotary Club of Moe is proud to be part of this global campaign to End Polio Now. "No child should suffer from this vaccine-preventable disease," Rotary Club of Moe International and Foundation Committee chair Dianne Wilkinson said. "A polio-free world is possible, but we can achieve it only by taking action together." Join Rotary this #WorldPolioDay on October 24 to End Polio Now. For more, visit: endpolio.org/world-polio-day.

11.01.2022 Our new life in Rotary . Zoom + Rotary = our times right now

10.01.2022 It will come as no surprise to any member that the Caronavirus issues and impacts have been at the forefront of President Daves weekly discussions. The social and economic impacts across our great community are significant and our clubs response needs to be measured and consistent with advice from Government and Health Authorities. After discussions at our abridged meeting last night, President Dave (with the support of members in attendance) has decided to SUSPEND ALL ROTARY CLUB OF MORWELL ACTIVITIES for the time being. At this stage, all club operations will take a hiatus. The Board will meet in late April (probably via phone hook-up) to review the status of the suspension in line with all Governmental and Health Authority advice or directives. Stay safe everybody

09.01.2022 Did you know our latest four recruits have all been under 40 years old? This is great for bringing diversity to a potentially aging membership. Rotary embraces all sorts of diversity. What unique skills, experience and background could you bring?

08.01.2022 Rotary has a new area of focus: supporting the environment. This adds to the existing 6 areas of focus to make 7: peacebuilding and conflict prevention; disease prevention and treatment; water, sanitation, and hygiene; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; community economic development; and (new) supporting the environment.

08.01.2022 Morwell Rotary Club members making good use of their time at home! A few of our members (and family too) have been recycling old Ambulance Victoria uniforms by removing the badges and logos. Hard workers like Ann Vokes (pictured) have already removed badges from 100 shirts and are getting hold of more. We will donate the recycled uniforms to Timor Leste, along with desks and other goods, for a Leongatha Rotary Club international project. This uniforms have come to us thanks t...o the Drouin Branch of Ambulance Victoria and the Rotary Club of Drouin. The Drouin Ambulance Victoria branch had been collecting the uniforms from around Victoria to make them available for a worthy cause. The Rotary Club of Drouin has been working on this project with them since before Christmas, and they have already sent pallet loads to several places such as Rotary Donations in Kind, refugee camps and East Gippsland bushfire recovery projects. Pictured: Club Service Director Ann Vokes busy removing badges from old Ambulance uniforms
