22.01.2022 Sharing with you today, the magnificent works of father and daughter, Marco (the trees) and Dusciana Bravura (the birds) from an exhibition in France in 2007 th...at I visited. Make no mistake, Dusciana's birds are big as horses. She works primarily with millefiori and other precious materials as white gold and smalti. She has her own studio gallery in Venice now which I will not fail to visit each time I go. See more

14.01.2022 I met Paul Perry at a mosaic workshop in Melbourne 2 years (maybe 3 ?) ago. He is a fabulous artist and has created and overseen this amazing community project. I hope I get to see it for real sometime.
13.01.2022 It doesn't quite manage what I wanted to express so will do a #2. "Through the Narrows" 15cm x 15cm. Smalti, gold smalti, unglazed porcelain tile, slate, marble, gemstones and other bits and pieces. I will do things differently next time. Still I'm happy with a 1st attempt. I do need to learn how to work clean though !
09.01.2022 Don't you just love them !!
09.01.2022 Mimmo is finally finished. It only took me 14 months ! My first ever portrait. Part of the delay was not trusting myself to make the decision about the background. In the end I decided on black smalti with one line of opus vermiculatum (think that's what it's called) around the face with opus tessalatum for the rest. Doesn't pay to look at it close up ! I hope the next one doesn't take me so long
