23.01.2022 It was all hands on deck at Mackie Lane on Wednesday when the youngsters set about emptying the old beds and filling the new wicking beds. Well done everyone!

22.01.2022 Thanks to Jan who's remade these lovely climbing frames, which were originally donated by the members of Basketry NSW.

21.01.2022 Here's a message from our Secretary .... Dear All Hoping everyone is well.... DST has started and that means we will now be gardening from 3 to 5 pm every Wednesday and Sunday beginning this Wednesday, 7 October 2020. Please remember that UV levels are on the rise and are still high enough to cause skin damage in the late afternoon. I'm writing this after 4 pm and the UV is sitting on 3. Hats, sunscreen, light weight clothing that covers as much skin as possible and sun glasses are highly recommended, especially for children. We also recommend you bring water to drink. This coming Sunday, 11 October 2020 we will be having drinks in the garden after our working bee. Everybody welcome, please BYO nibbles and drinks. Best regards Irena

15.01.2022 "Always follow your passion" My 'Waste Avoidance Tips' workshop is now sold out. Interested in attending my next workshop - possibly end of Nov/early Dec... to get ready for Xmas shopping ;) ? Please let me know your preference in terms of day and time (i.e during the week after work, Saturday or Sunday etc) and follow my Fb page: https://m.facebook.com/ThinkAboutSustainability/ Thanks Valentina

14.01.2022 Our thanks go to MOSMAN ROTARY CLUB members for their recent generous donation to help us rebuild the rotting wooden beds at Mackie Lane. Eight IBCs have been sourced, and these will convert into 16 wicking beds. Our 'engineering team' has been working hard, and good progress is being made with work now completed on Beds 6A, B, C & D. Not only are we grateful for the financial contribution, but we must also thank the Rotary volunteers who've come to help with the project. Here's some photos of the this week's working bee. This is a great effort, and will really improve facilities at Mackie Lane. THANK YOU to all involved!

It will now take place in February 2021 ................. watch this space for details!

11.01.2022 Thanks Jan for these lovely photos taken yesterday at Mackie Lane.

11.01.2022 Thank you, Barbara and Leigh, at garden centre Sunlite Mitre 10 in Mosman for another tray of thriving seedlings. This floral haven is tucked away down the alleyway beside Mitre 10, Mosman. The centre has been open for about 6 months with helpful staff who really know their onions . as well as shrubs, annuals and natives! And they can supply everything you might need in the garden accessory department! This the second time they have reached out to us the with offerings of veggies and herbs to set us up this Spring. Thanks Guys!

10.01.2022 Thanks to Barbara Schreiner from Mitre 10’s Garden Centre for alerting us to this website (www.aussiebee.com.au) which has a wonderful collection of downloadable articles on native bees.

07.01.2022 Cabbages are doing well at Mackie Lane!

06.01.2022 Thanks to Angela for this recipe for a dressing that you can keep in the fridge for a couple of weeks .......... GREEN GODDESS SALAD DRESSING 4 organic garlic cloves 1 cup packed organic flat leaf parsley, de-stemmed... 1 1/2 cup mix of soft fine herbs like chives, tarragon, basil, fennel, dill, mint 3/4 cup of best quality extra virgin olive oil 1 cup of organic Greek yoghurt 1 lemon, zest and juice 1 tbs sherry or chardonnay vinegar 1 tbs sea salt 1 tbs capers 4 anchovies Place all the ingredients except the Greek yoghurt into a blender or a mortar and pestle if you have one you can do it in small batches. Blend until well incorporated, a couple of minutes is perfectly fine, try to keep some texture so that it doesn’t completely purée. Add Greek yoghurt and pulse a couple of times until it looks an even colour. Taste and season according to your preference. This sauce works with almost anything eggs, meats, seafood or just drizzled over a fresh bowl of lettuce hearts. It will keep in the fridge in an airtight jar for a week or so.

04.01.2022 Our members haven't been able to travel far this year, but Roger made it to Yamba last week and had a good look around the Community Garden there. He was rewarded with a bundle of fresh herbs for that evening's meal!
