25.01.2022 It’s getting cold! Don’t put yourself or your family at risk. Be careful when turning heater on for the first time and keep everything in the house a metre from the heater.
24.01.2022 Our Firefighters, admin and support staff share important days all year, but ANZAC Day is the day we collectively stop and reflect on the significance of the events that unfolded 104 years ago. Thousands of miles from home for many thousands of men, some not even 18 years old yet. The loss of life was catastrophic, but it was also here that the Australian’s steeled their resolve to stand proud as an independent nation, working side-by-side with their New Zealand comrades. ANZAC Day is now Australia and New Zealand’s day to remember the collective sacrifices made by men, women and animals who were injured, killed or otherwise affected as a result of wars and conflicts to the present day.

22.01.2022 *** BUILDING FIRE *** Just after 5am this morning, Fire and Rescue NSW received multiple Triple Zero (000) calls reporting a building fire in Dee Why. Dee Why f...irefighters arrived at the incident on Delmar Parade, finding a 5 level unit block with large volumes of black smoke coming from the 2 levels of basement car parks. With reports that people were unaccounted for and a large amount of evacuations necessary, the Incident Commander called without hesitation for a 3rd alarm* response to the incident. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and with lines of hose entered the smoke filled basement levels to search for the seat of the fire with the assistance of thermal imaging cameras. With smoke filling the rest of the occupied unit block, the safe evacuation of residents was a priority. Shortly after 6am, crews gained control of the fire after finding cars and stored items alight on the lowest of the basement levels. With the assistance of Northern Beaches Police Area Command Police Officers, 36 people were safely evacuated with some requiring treatment by NSW Ambulance Paramedics for smoke inhalation. Power has been isolated to the building by the energy authority and crews are conducting ventilation to clear the area of hazardous Carbon Monoxide levels. Investigations are currently under way to determine the cause of the fire. 20.01.2022 This morning we attended a rescue incident for a patient who fell 4m through a rotten suspended stairwell in #Mosman Fire and Rescue NSW Station 025 Mosman were... first arriving with the ambulance and called for rescue assistance to extricate the patient from the bottom of the stairs. The patient was stabilized by ambulance prior to extrication while we configured our rescue plan. Due to the unknown stability of the stairwell we decided we would use of LP36 to remove the patient from beneath the stairs. The Ladder Platform cage just squeezed in the gap between the house and stairwell and we used the cage to bring the patient up to street level to be transported by ambulance. It was a great team effort between agencies Fire and Rescue NSW NSW Ambulance NSW Police Force Our ladder platform is not only used as a water tower but has the capability to be used for rescue jobs to extricate and remove patients from buildings or other areas where access may be difficult #rescue #FRNSW #preparedforanything
15.01.2022 On Saturday the crew at Crows Nest Fire station tried a different kind of rescue drill.... We set up a bowling ball to simulate an incident where someone may ha...ve their thumb stuck in the finger hole We tried multiple different tools including air grinders, chisels and saws to create openings and cut off sections to release the finger from the bowling ball. It is not the sort of incident we come across often but it is important for us to keep our skills and knowledge up to standards so we are prepared to deal with difficult and different situations. 06.01.2022 Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) was proud to join with other emergency services and participate in today’s launch of Bear Cottage’s Superhero Week. From 28 July 3... August, Bear Cottage is asking everyone to get their cape on and help lighten the load for some of the littlest superheroes who are facing some of life’s biggest battles. Superhero Week is Bear Cottage’s largest annual fundraising appeal, raising essential funds for NSW’s only children’s hospice and the thousands of brave children and families who rely on this invaluable service for respite and end-of-life care each year. As part of today’s event, FRNSW Acting Deputy Commissioner, Paul McGuiggan, other FRNSW senior officers and firefighters presented special bravery medals to each Bear Cottage patient as well as showbags and firefighter helmets. All the children, who are the real superheroes, and their families had a great day. See more
