It's been a wee while since we set this space for Sanja and Ian but we love the white on white with pops of colour that made this divine space so welcoming. We didn't get to photograph the ceremony space in the courtyard, it rained a torrential downpour in the moments before it was due to begin. But in the true calm and collected fashion Sanja exudes she walked the balcony at Hillstone St Lucia instead smiling all the way. Once you start on an event planning journey you begin to see all it's moving parts, all of the hours that go into it, all the people power it takes to manage it, and even then you don't quite grasp it's power. When we set a wedding we want to bring love into the room. We set our bamboo 4-post arbour for J&S so that they could celebrate a birthday and enjoy being by the sea. They ate Thai food and we hung inconspicuously back to help when needed. We also think that celebrating nothing in particular is equally romantic as you're not following a tradition. ... 01.01.2022 Flashback to our first published styled shoot with the indomitable Julia Rose. She was a flurry of warmth and creative spirit, gathering fresh native flowers and greenery, and sending the photographers off to scour the beach for driftwood to hang her incredible creations from. It was my first experience with collaborating in a creative space, surrounded by the hanging beams at Babalou Weddings & Events, and in the embrace of a collaborative team brimming with kindness and t...alent.
