24.01.2022 To all locals who collect or have mail delivered from Bruthen Post Office: Remember to be kind to everyone during this busy time for the post team and local family. Don’t forget to take a smile with you, when you collect your parcel, easy to do even when we all have masks on.
24.01.2022 Round 2 of Isolation and tougher rules (stage 3 here and stage 4 in metro areas). We all have to be wearing masks, so I started my mask collection last week and today I added fire themed ones made by a fellow fire fighter. Stay kind to each other, check on your family, mates and neighbours. Use technology to ‘see’ each other. Don’t forget to smile even though no one can see it. ... We are still here should there be an emergency . We have been through ISO once, we can get through this again. Captain Christine.

20.01.2022 In light of what we have been through; drought, bushfires, COVID, ISO 1 and now 2, working/studying or schooling from home, not being able to socialize as we normally would, plus anything else the you have had to face personally.... Take a moment to pause, read, make or think about what would be on your 3 lists. These can help you get through the ‘not normal’ times that we are all going through. If it’s a struggle day/week or month just focus on what is urgent/a necessit...y. Don’t forget to speak with family or friends, or someone if you are finding it difficult at the moment. We are in this together. Captain Christine
18.01.2022 GREAT ALPINE ROAD UPDATE: Bruthen Fire Brigade
18.01.2022 Today, with assistance from Johnsonville brigade, Mossi-Tambo coordinated a controlled burn off for a local property owner. At all times following strict Covid-19 guidelines and procedures. After last year's fires the property had been cleared of debris leaving a few large piles of trees and vegetation. The land owner contacted CFA which in turn resulted in today's well coordinated burn off. If you are planning to burn off on your property, talk to your local brigade, be mind...ful of weather conditions (including the following week), register the burn by calling 1800 668 511 and always have enough people to monitor, contain and extinguish the burn safely and effectively. Mossi-Tambo will continue to monitor today's burn over the coming days to ensure it remains safe and extinguished. "Mossi-Tambo Brigade - Engaging with the Community!" 16.01.2022 What a lovely song and well put together clip. Thank you to all the hospitals and health workers for all your dedication and hard work through such a tough time for everyone. Thank you The Royal Melbourne Hospital for taking the time to put this together and bring smiles to peoples faces.
16.01.2022 Another card with an important question to ponder over the weekend while enjoying the spring air. What is most important in your life?
13.01.2022 The start of wet and gusty weather is about to start. When was the last time you checked your gutters? Are they nice and clean? Tomorrow is your chance before the rains get here. This is not only for fire safety but also reduces the risk of water damage. Remember to take care when using a ladder and working from heights. ... 13.01.2022 3 Mossi-Tambo members and 1 Bruthen Fire Brigade member organized a BA (breathing apparatus) training this morning. This is an essential qualification and skill set for our qualified members to maintain, for their safety and public safety. The crews went through the Don (put on), start up, pressure test, and Doff (take off) processes together and then continued with operational drills. Two members even went for a brisk walk into Bruthen’s Main Street to check the mail . ... Thanks to one of our Instructors for organizing cylinders to be delivered (COVID no contact) and to Bruthen and Lakes Entrance Fire Brigade brigades for allowing us to borrow their BA sets.
13.01.2022 How do you refuel your body after stress or disaster? We have all and are still going through tough times. Take a moment to think about these 3 simple questions and answers. At least find something that makes you smile ... Captain Christine.
12.01.2022 Today you may see a bit of activity at our station, our crews are undergoing critical training which is essential for our fire fighters to do every year. We must do this to keep our fire fighters safe when out protecting the community at all incidents throughout the year. Training is being carried out as per strict COVID guidelines.
11.01.2022 Please avoid the area and seek alternative route. Respect the emergency services and all involved.
11.01.2022 Are you planning to clean up your property before fire season??? Remember to register your burn off.

09.01.2022 There is NEVER a dull moment in East Gippsland - Thanks to Local photographer Geoff Stanton Photographer for capturing a few pics around the Bruthen, Mossiface and Tambo Upper areas. BOM River Height data have recorded that the lovely Tambo River at Ramrod was at 3.59 metres 14:58 hrs today, which is much higher than what it was last week. Now we cant even see the Bridge at Ramrod. I don't think you will hear anyone complaining that our tanks are filling up, some overflo...wing and dams also filling up nicely after being empty last spring and over summer. Some dams I have seen are actually full and overflowing as well!! 2019/2020 Bushfires, COVID19 and Floods - We sure are getting everything thrown at us but we still come together as a close rural communities. Remember DO NOT ENTER floodwaters - there have been reports of a few bridges and roads damaged already. There is also a considerable amount of debris coming down rivers from fire effected areas, large trees and branches especially. Stay safe, stay warm. Captain Christine. 06.01.2022 Men’s Health Week - 14 June to 20 June Hey guys, When was the last time you serviced your car/motorbike??? ... Now ask yourself when was the last time you had a once over and medical check with your GP? The following points taken from https://www.menshealthweek.org.au - Be active in getting medical help if you don't feel well, have a problem that won't go away or notice unusual symptoms. -It's OK to seek help - don't try to do everything on your own or bury problems. Talk to your partner, friends and workmates. - Ladies, be proactive in helping your men and boys get the help they and you need. Use available hotlines, speak with professionals to get the best course of action and be persistent. - Don't leave it too late to seek help.
