24.01.2022 Fishing for the Future Part 2 Following the success of the first Fishing For the Future workshop in February, Phil Laycock is back to host Part 2 - and its a...ll about strategy. The workshop is seeking further input into the development of a Recreational Fishing Strategy for the Douglas Shire. It is expected to discuss community’s vision of establishing an action-based pathway to support future sustainable fishing in the Shire. 20.01.2022 Good Afternoon Members, Just a reminder that our next fishing comp is this weekend starting at 5pm today. we are happy to continue with the normal weigh-in at the clubhouse, with COVID regulations still in place. Participation in the competition must follow any mandated government guidelines. Social distancing rules will apply at the clubhouse. 15.01.2022 FISHING COMP - THIS WEEKEND - Comp will begin 5pm Friday 26th. Weigh-in and BBQ at the clubhouse on Sunday, 28th at 3:00pm. COVID regulations are still in place and social distancing rules apply. Gold coin donation for BBQ. - Even if you don't do any fishing over the weekend, come along on Sunday for a drink and enjoy the BBQ. Prizes for lucky door and target species.... TARGET SPECIES - Looks like it might be a rough weekend, so Grunter is on the menu!Grunter will be our target species for both Seniors and Juniors/Sub-Juniors. So, anybody who weighs in or catches and releases a Grunter will go into the draw to be our lucky winner - catch 2 Grunter and you will go in the draw twice! Prizes for our Senior and Junior/Sub-Junior winners. All Grunter must be legal size (40cm). Have a great weekend. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

13.01.2022 FISHING COMP THIS WEEKEND. From 5pm Friday 28th May, with weigh-in at the clubhouse on Sunday, 30th at 3:00pm. BBQ at the weigh in on Sunday, for a gold coin donation to help us cover costs. We'd love to see all members there, even if you don't weigh anything in. Lots of great prizes and giveaways, including a Baitcaster rod and reel!... This weekend we have no Target Species - instead, we have prizes up for grabs for any Senior Male, Senior Female, Junior and Sub-Junior who weighs in a fish. The more fish you weigh in, the more entries into the draw! See you on Sunday!

The comp will begin from 5pm Friday and we are happy to be going back to the normal weigh-in at the clubhouse, with a few new COVID guidelines in place. Participation in the competition must follow any mandated government guidelines. On Sunday, you can weigh in anytime between 3pm and 5pm, however, fishing is to stop before 3pm. Social distancing rules will apply at the clubhouse.... We have a limit of twenty people on-site. Please be mindful and help self-manage this. e.g. wait at carpark area if 20 people at weigh in station etc. Sorry, no BBQ. Please try not to loiter after you have weighed in fish. 09.01.2022 Good Morning Members, Fishing Comp - This Weekend Our next fishing comp is this weekend, 30th October - 1st November - and it looks to be a calm one! The comp will begin from 5pm tomorrow, 30th. Participation in the competition must follow any mandated government guidelines. Social distancing rules will apply at the clubhouse and no more than 6 members inside the clubhouse at any one time (hand sanitizer will be available onsite). Weigh in and BBQ on Sunday from 3pm. ... Closed Season - Barramundi Throughout the Queensland east coast, a closed season applies to barramundi from 1 November (Sunday) to 31 January. Any barramundi that are caught on Friday or Saturday before the closed season starts must be photographed with date and time, to be accepted at the weigh in on Sunday. Raffle Tickets and EOY Presentation To raise some money for our end of year presentation, we will be selling raffle tickets over the next few weeks. Raffle prizes will be a few seafood and meat trays and we would love it if our members could collect a book or two to sell. Raffle books can be collected from the club house at the weigh in this Sunday - or contact us if you'd like to arrange an alternate time to collect. Raffle books will be due back on presentation night (Saturday, 12th December). 2020 has been a tough year for everybody and Covid has had a significant impact on our financial position and ability to fundraise for the end of year presentation. This year we would like to ask our families for your support in contributing to our end of year prizes (we would love to continue handing out a prize for every Junior and Sub-Junior as well as our winners). If you have any vouchers or items at home (new or excellent condition) that you would like to donate, we will have a tub at the clubhouse on Sunday. Time to sort through that fishing collection - maybe you have some lures still in boxes or other things that are no longer being used. We appreciate your support continued participation in our club! Lucky door, kid's prizes, as well as some prizes for our target species.... This weekend our Seniors will be chasing Trout and Fingermark. Any Senior who weighs in or catches and releases a Trout and/or Fingermark will go into the draw to be our lucky target species winner! For the Juniors, simply weigh in any fish and you will go in the draw to win a prize! Fingers crossed for some calm water!

07.01.2022 Good Evening all, Our committee is happy to let you all know that this weekend's comp (22nd, 23rd and 24th May) will be going ahead! The comp will begin from 5pm this Friday. Due to the Covid-19 situation, the club will be using a new set of rules to record points and "weigh-in" fish. Please find the updated rules attached.... Clear images of your fish, on brag mats and matching records of capture (also attached) are to be emailed to [email protected] no later than 3 p.m. on the Sunday of the fishing comp weekend. Please do not send photos to committee members mobiles, these need to be emailed to the club. There will be no weigh-in or gathering at the clubhouse at all. Please remember that participation in the competition must follow any mandated government guidelines for gatherings and social distancing.
