24.01.2022 Hi everyone, Well done Glenn and Paul who have managed to get The Duke Hotel Hobart as a temporary venue for MAJ. The first jam at this new place will be next Thursday 27/8/2020 with a tune and chat at 6.30pm - 7.00pm and then the jam will start at 7.00pm and go until 9.00pm with a break in between. If you have any questions about the venue then give Paul B a ring on 0418-121-508.

23.01.2022 We'd like to congratulate Pepita Emmerichs as the 2020 recipient of our Australian Bluegrass Scholarship, sponsored by City Chiropractic Care. Pepita receives a... $1,500 cash grant and a day of studio time with Isaac Barter. A further benefit is Hamish and Lachlan Davidson’s commitment to the ongoing mentorship of past and present scholarship recipients. Pepita will also receive a beautiful trophy to commemorate her achievement. Originally a Melbourne girl, Pepita’s primary instruments are fiddle and mandolin, although she loves to dabble with a few other stringed instruments (bass, guitar, bouzouki, cello). Pepita’s exposure to bluegrass music that really got the fire burning was Paul Kelly & Uncle Bill’s ‘Smoke’ album, but she also has a background studying classical and jazz. Pepita describes touring the world and creating music with her band Oh Pep! as her most beloved musical endeavour. She makes her living as a musician, performing music she is passionate about, and devoting a considerable amount of time to teaching music. Currently, Pepita divides her time between Australia and Scotland, actively performing with Rain of Animals, Good Guy Hank, Swamp Chicken (Scot), Oh Pep!, Good Option, Sugarboot (Aus) as well as an array of recording session work. Pepita is currently working on new music with Oh Pep!, Good Guy Hank and Rain of Animals, including an original bluegrass and old time inspired ‘tunes album’ with the latter. Watch this space! We intend to hold a formal presentation later in the year. Photo credit: Mulography - Anthony Mulcahy

22.01.2022 Hi everyone, Mostly Acoustic Jam (MAJ) is back on again tonight at the Duke Hotel. Christine who runs the Bright Eyes Cafe has informed Glenn that the cafe is again available for MAJ. Glenn has informed fellow jammers that the Bright Eyes Cafe venue will be discussed tonight at the Duke.

21.01.2022 24/7/2020 Hi everyone, Below is another message from Glenn Hi Muso’s great and small, ... I have been working on multiple fronts trying to find a temporary venue for MAJ. Three out of four options have fallen over. However there is a venue in the city that looks promising, and it is a facility that I have used for other purposes in the past. Capacity is yet to be confirmed, but at a guess, I’d say about 20 with appropriate social distancing. Availability (or not) will be confirmed mid next week, so that means no MAJ next Tuesday evening.

20.01.2022 UPDATE To All, i hope everyone has been practicing while in lock down. Hopefully we will be back together on August 1st. At the moment there is a big ... clean happening and getting ready for the centre to re open. with some new decor which has been kindly donated. The most exciting news is that the committee applied for a grant to purchase musical instruments. and we were successful . There was a trip and a wish list taken to McCanns in Hobart . We now have a huge amount of musical instruments for all to use. See photos attached. We have set up a library so people can take an instrument or other items related to music home on a monthly basis. to be returned at the end of each month. A detailed agreement will be made public before the next Jam . I have sent you all some photos of some of the gear that was purchased. We are now preparing for the next jam and workshops and there are many new people waiting to come up and visit. We are also now on some other facebook sites and have a strong following. If you know anyone who would like to join our mailing list please send me their details and we do not share these and are all Bcc. and not public. There are now 70 on the list. I will be sending out an update soon to the conditions of entry to the Community centre. So I hope to get your feedback and also some news for our new Community E- News that will be going out b4 the 1st of August. We will be also advising every one of an exciting event happening in November. *** DO you have any new ideas for the Jam and workshops..please toss them to me. Those who are on Facebook, I have been posting some videos there that you may like to view. keep the strings tight and in tune.. cheers Ken --

I know some are itching to jam again. For those who have not heard; Bright Eyes Cafe will remain closed until later this year.
