12.01.2022 What a day! Today our Kindy Teachers and Educational Leaders came together for a follow on from our Professional Networking at Mudjimba Kindy earlier this year. As always, our Visiting Chief Curriculum Officer, Dr Deborah Harcourt inspired us and challenged us A huge shout out also to Mother Duck Kallangur (Brewer Street) and their Kindergarten Team for letting us explore their beautiful environments!

02.01.2022 Look at our garden bloom!!! The children are enjoying the new flowers, searching for the tiny creatures that lurk secretly in the garden and waiting patiently for out veggies to be ready for harvest. Gardening is a healthy, fun experience for children where they learn to: work together and learn from each other as they develop new skills (planting, tending to the garden and harvesting crops etc). explore basic science concepts (like what living things need to thrive).... develop a love of being in nature which has incredible benefits for mental health and wellbeing. 01.01.2022 Enrolling your child in care and leaving them for the first time can be quite daunting for families. Heidi Denner shares some tips that you can use both at home and at care to help guide you through this transition. https://loom.ly/98tdurU

01.01.2022 Here at Mother Duck Kallangur we support children to safely explore using real tools. As children explore and work with tools such as hammers and nails, it supports their development in a number of ways: It supports the development of self-control and decision-making as they engage in assessing and managing safe risks (with the support of an educator) It supports their muscle development in their hands, their hand-eye coordination and motor planning skills (all essential ...for every day tasks!) It supports the development of persistence (it can be quite tricky getting it right!) It supports a sense of agency that comes from having the responsibility of using real tools, improving a child’s self-confidence. This is where incredible learning happens
