25.01.2022 Riding the waves of big emotions with little ones (and bigger ones) is REALLY hard work as a parent. Heidi Denner shares how acknowledging our humanness is one of the most powerful things we can learn whilst riding the waves of our parenting journey. https://loom.ly/Zhhrd8o

24.01.2022 The new year is just around the corner and as we take the time to reflect upon what has been an incredibly challenging year, it's also a time where we create resolutions for 2021. Heidi Denner shares why slowing down and pressing 'pause' should be one of the most important things to implement and practice in the New Year. https://loom.ly/XqjJDFE

22.01.2022 As always, we have learnt so much from such a wonderful mentor (Asia Pacific Early Childhood Consultants)

22.01.2022 Self Care Sunday Prioritizing our own wellbeing is absolutely critical to the wellbeing of our children ... how can you take some time for yourself this week? #ittakesacommunity

20.01.2022 Thank you to our wonderful colleague and mentor Dr Deborah Harcourt (Asia Pacific Early Childhood Consultants) for sharing Happy New Year to our Mother Duck Family! May we all continue to embrace the importance of connection and community as we step into 2021....... #ittakesacommunity #motherduckfamily

17.01.2022 Self Care Sunday One way we can look after our own mental health and also nurture the mental health of our children is to regularly reflect on what different struggles have taught us (or continue to teach us). This doesn’t mean we brush off the potential sadness or pain that different struggles have brought. In fact, the first step in building resilience is to acknowledge and name our emotions (and to support our children to do the same). The beginning of a new year is a ...perfect time to start to practice reflecting on the lessons and growth that may have stemmed from struggle Important note If you’re not ready to reflect, that is perfectly okay! Just make sure you reach out if you need support. As we enter a new year, we wish to remind our Mother Duck Family of the following community supports: https://www.blackdoginstitute.org.au/emergency-help/ https://www.lifeline.org.au https://www.beyondblue.org.au #ittakesacommunity #motherduckfamily

15.01.2022 Life can be full of heartache for many, and when one of those really hard stories comes from within our Mother Duck Community, our heart is to provide a way to work together to help. This story is one of a family that we have known well at Mother Duck Eaton’s Hill: At 12 months of age, Clayton was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. For the past 12 years he has lived a full life only slightly restricted by his heart condition. Just after his birthday in July this year, he... suddenly went into heart failure. By September he was so unwell, Clayton and his mum Bek were flown by an emergency medical flight team to be admitted at The Royal Melbourne Children's Hospital for a heart transplant. After 7 weeks it was discovered that his heart condition had severely damaged his lungs. It was not safe to do a heart transplant alone. Clayton needs a double transplant of his heart and both lungs. He was rushed through the lung transplant assessment and placed on the heart and lung transplant list. The family have been living apart in 2 states for the past 3 months. Covid has meant that Clayton's father Matt and Clayton's brothers couldn't visit. Any day the family could get the call that Clayton's new heart and lungs are ready. The family are rushing to try and get Matt and the boys to Melbourne for Christmas and to stay permanently so they can be together as a family again. Please see the below link for more information on Clayton's Journey: https://loom.ly/2CZECBo HOW CAN YOU HELP? Over the last couple of weeks we have been selling children's funky socks for $4 a pair and on Tuesday December 1st and Wednesday December 2nd we will be wearing the socks to Mother Duck EH for the day. We would love you to join us! #ittakesacommunity

14.01.2022 It’s been a really hard year hasn’t it? And yet, amidst the struggles and challenges, we have been continually blown away by the generosity and gratitude displayed by so many in our Mother Duck EH Family! A family who has been part of our community here for 4 years, is moving to Scotland - they gifted us with this amazing box of goodies to say thank you! Feeling VERY grateful ... #motherduckfamily

12.01.2022 Self-Care Sunday Gratitude is light giving when it seems as though life is only full of darkness...

10.01.2022 Children develop essential skills of collaboration, team work and perseverance as well as an understanding of social responsibility as they take part in everyday responsibilities at Mother Duck Eatons Hill. In this image, children in our Toddler Studio are assisting an educator push the trolley (containing the lunch dishes) into the kitchen to go into the dishwasher. (As well as developing all of the skills above, it’s a lovely way to provide connection and rich conversati...on between a child and their educator ) Check out a recent blog written by our CEO, Miss Karen, on how Mother Duck Childcare supports the development of young children: https://www.motherduck.com.au/the-importance-of-21st-centu/

09.01.2022 Self-care Sunday Looking after ourselves as adults doesn’t just benefit us. Our little people are always watching... and as the brain is shaped by experience, their experience of how they watch us take care of ourselves, can impact how they take care of themselves in the future

08.01.2022 Karen Prestedge, CEO of Mother Duck shares the importance of reflecting upon our complex role as adults in supporting the character and skill development of children. https://loom.ly/-AfotMQ

02.01.2022 Did you know that research suggests that music will enhance a baby’s mood and reduce stress??? Music can also help to improve neuroplasticity (the ability to form connections in the brain), in areas of the brain that process sound, sensation, movement and attention. The children in our Nursery have been exploring the sounds made by the guitar ... Do you have a musical instrument at home that your family enjoys???

02.01.2022 As we go about our day today (and everyday), what a beautiful reminder. This is what community is all about Happy Weekend to everyone in our Mother Duck Eatons Hill Family ...... #ittakesacommunity

01.01.2022 NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. This week provides a wonderful opportunity to continue to support children to understand their nation’s history and the part we all play today in embracing and celebra...ting Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander peoples, perspectives and history. #NAIDOC2020
