23.01.2022 Sunday self-care reminder ... Kindness is powerful - for the one on the receiving end and for the one who is offering it. As human beings, we are wired to connect with others. When we show genuine kindness to another, we are caring for our own wellbeing too. Kindness is key to a happy and healthy community #ittakesacommunity #motherduckfamily

19.01.2022 We invite our Mother Duck families to help us celebrate Early Childhood Educators Day by posting a message below. Across Mother Duck Childcare, we have 285 educators who dedicate their lives to nurturing the development of our children. Our educators daily impact the future citizens of our society, not just in ways that impact what children will do, but WHO they will be! This week we have shared messages of thanks and gratitude about our educators and now we invite you to do the same. Simple share your messages in the comments below and help us celebrate ECE day. #earlychildhoodeducatorsday #LoveMyECE

19.01.2022 We so value the days we can collaborate and learn together!

19.01.2022 Self Care Sunday Check-In Whether this weekend was full of enjoyable moments, challenging moments, exciting moments or painful moments (or maybe a mix of all of it!), it is so essential for our wellbeing as people to make attempts to look for the good. This good might not always seem obvious straight away. It could be tainted with disappointment or hidden under shattered expectations. So here are some ideas to help us see through the fog:... - A warm cup of coffee enjoyed on your own or with someone you love. - The warmth of the sunshine on your skin as you watched your children play outside. - The little hand of your child, reaching for yours to cross the road, trusting you to keep them safe. - Snuggled up on the couch with a loved one watching TV (even if it was Octonauts or PJ Masks!!!) - The softness of your pillow as you nodded off to sleep.... Although looking for the small, yet good moments dont take away the challenging ones, when reflections stir happiness in us, our brains release even more chemicals that help us feel better. Small, good thoughts are incredibly powerful!!!

17.01.2022 Our new Welcome Space is the perfect spot for our weekly leadership team meetings

16.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who donated and supported this incredible cause

16.01.2022 This year has been unlike anything our community as a whole has experienced before. The impacts of COVID-19 have caused collective trauma to varying degrees for all of us. During the Mental Health First Aid Course that our key leaders undertook a few months ago, we learnt the importance of knowing what to say and do beyond are you okay?. This little video highlights some simple strategies that we encourage everyone to keep in mind. Struggling with mental health concerns do...es not make someone weak or decrease their worth as a person. As human beings we are wired for connection and therefore when someone is struggling, it takes the courage, empathy and kindness of a community of people who are brave enough to ask R U OK?. It truly does take a community .... #motherduckfamily #ittakesacommunity https://loom.ly/nx92rz0

15.01.2022 Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work. - C.S.Lewis Our Franchisee, Miss Kaylie leads by example and can regularly be found, engaging with a child during her morning greeting rounds across the Centre. Today it was drawing! #motherduckfamily

15.01.2022 One of our wonderful members of our Centre Leadership Team, Miss Keisha, kicked off the week with her first Dare to Lead online workshop This course is based on the incredible research of Brene Brown and as an organisation we have committed to using the framework provided in Dare to Lead to further develop our core values and who we are as leaders. One full day workshop down.... two more to go over the next two weeks!!! #motherduckfamily #ittakesacommunity

13.01.2022 Join us on Wednesday September 2nd as we celebrate Early Childhood Educators Day!

12.01.2022 Involving children in opportunities to care for others and to contribute to their community, has an incredible impact on their development of empathy, care and respect. As our Visiting Chief Curriculum Officer, Dr Deborah Harcourt has inspired us to consider, aspirations that we hold for the future of our children arent just about what they will do, but rather who they will be. https://loom.ly/cN1WFTA If you would like to join Mother Duck in supporting superheroes like Richie, head to: https://loom.ly/VdTSkQY

12.01.2022 Thank you to all the children and families who have expressed their gratitude and appreciation of our amazing educators this week! We had hoped to respond individually to each comment however, as we have been overwhelmed with responses (SO humbling), we decided to share a collective thank you instead.... Our hearts have been so full this week as we have read through the comments posted, cards delivered and emails that were sent through. It is a privilege to do what we do each... and every day and as much as we have the honour of impacting the lives of your children, they very much impact our lives in return Thank you once again - this week has been another example of the amazing community we have within Mother Duck Childcare! #EarlyChildhoodEducatorsDay #ittakesacommunity #motherduckfamily

12.01.2022 Meet Jonathan Jonathan is our soccer coach from an external organisation called Ginger Sports. Since he has returned to the Centre (after a break during the peak of COVID-19), we have reflected on the rights of all children when it comes to optional experiences that are on offer at the Centre. Over the years when optional experiences like Ginger Sports have been offered to families, because it was an additional cost to families, some children would miss out. To uphold the rights of children to have equal opportunity to access these experiences, as a Centre we now cover the cost so all children in the Kindy Studio can attend. #ittakesacommunity

12.01.2022 Today we celebrate all the incredible male role models in our lives. To the dads, step-dads, foster dads, granddads, uncles and other father-figures... the part you play in our families and communities is so important. We hope today you know just how loved, valued, and appreciated you are! Happy Fathers Day!

10.01.2022 We celebrated Pyjama Day several weeks ago and we wanted to share with our families the incredible impact you had on supporting children in foster care!!! A total of $228.00 was raised and 8 sets of pyjamas were donated Thank you for supporting us to give back to our community. Another wonderful opportunity to support all children to develop a deeper understanding of what it means to care for others and be part of a genuine community... #ittakesacommunity #motherduckfamily

10.01.2022 Self-care Sunday Looking after ourselves as adults doesn’t just benefit us. Our little people are always watching... and as the brain is shaped by experience, their experience of how they watch us take care of ourselves, can impact how they take care of themselves in the future

08.01.2022 Heidi Denner shares two simple strategies to help your children practice kindness and notice acts of kindness. https://loom.ly/Z-K0yG4

08.01.2022 We all know that supporting children to develop healthy eating habits is so critical to their overall health and wellbeing, and yet sometimes it can be really hard work getting children to try different foods! A couple of tips that we incorporate into our mealtimes each day: Having a range of foods on offer with a mix of things they already know and enjoy as well as a few new foods they can choose to try (choice increases autonomy!).... Having the children involved in the setting up of the meal space (collaboration increases engagement!) Sitting with the children and eating alongside them (modeling healthy eating habits is very important and plus, the time to sit and connect is always an added bonus!) See more

08.01.2022 Isnt play just wonderful and full of so many possibilities for learning and development??!! Curiosity, innovation and creativity are said to be skills that are essential for a successful life in the 21st Century. As adults we must continue to support the right children have to play, because as we all know, nobody is more curious, innovative and creative than a young child deeply engaged in play

08.01.2022 Cassandra, your heartfelt words mean so much to our team! We are so glad to be part of your beautiful familys village

07.01.2022 Please know that we appreciate the complexities that come with parenting and caring for young children and we appreciate and value the critical role that parents, guardians and carers play within our community As you sit down for a few moments of quiet (hopefully) at the end of a busy day, this is just a little reminder.... #ittakesacommunity #motherduckfamily

05.01.2022 Lunch today included wraps and sandwiches across the Centre! To promote the independence and competence of children, whilst still supporting their developmental needs, lunch was served in a slightly different way in each studio. - Junior Studio were served pre-made wraps which they used tongs to serve up onto their plates. - Pre Kindy Studio were served a mix of pre-made wraps and deconstructed sandwiches so they had the opportunity to make their meal themselves.... - Lastly, our Kindy Studio were served all deconstructed wraps and sandwiches to make independently - they were involved in the setting up of the meal space as well, taking great pride in writing the sign! Children are incredibly competent and capable when provided with the intricate balance of support as well as opportunities to be challenged! #motherduckfamily

The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. This week provides a wonderful opportunity to continue to support children to understand their nation’s history and the part we all play today in embracing and celebra...ting Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander peoples, perspectives and history. #NAIDOC2020
