24.01.2022 Happy Early Childhood Educators Day to our wonderful team at Mother Duck Kallangur!!! Our leadership team has been full of excitement handing out gift packs to each educator And, the day of celebrations would not be complete without one of Miss Kias AMAZING grazing platters .... isnt she talented??? ... To our team - we value each of you more than words can express and we hope that today you take a moment to truly recognize the incredible impact you have everyday on the lives of our most precious community citizens- our children! #EarlyChildhoodEducatorsDay #LoveMyECE #motherduckfamily #ittakesacommunity

23.01.2022 All week, the children and educators at Mother Duck Kallangur have been exploring through conversations and play, the responsibility we all have as a community to keep our oceans healthy. Yesterday, the children created a small world exploration space where they were able to experiment with pouring and scooping using large shells and role playing with sea animals. (Of course, the sand and water then prompted the idea of creating an underwater volcano... very imaginative in...deed!!!) It was wonderful watching the children further explore their responsibility of keeping the ocean healthy through their own imaginative play! #ittakesacommunity

22.01.2022 Sometimes its the most simple things that have the most impact on the positive wellbeing of our children and our wellbeing as parents. Heidi Denner shares two simple strategies that can be incorporated into everyday family life and its all to do with gratitude! https://loom.ly/xwg7Sbc

22.01.2022 Self Care Sunday Check-In Whether this weekend was full of enjoyable moments, challenging moments, exciting moments or painful moments (or maybe a mix of all of it!), it is so essential for our wellbeing as people to make attempts to look for the good. This good might not always seem obvious straight away. It could be tainted with disappointment or hidden under shattered expectations. So here are some ideas to help us see through the fog:... - A warm cup of coffee enjoyed on your own or with someone you love. - The warmth of the sunshine on your skin as you watched your children play outside. - The little hand of your child, reaching for yours to cross the road, trusting you to keep them safe. - Snuggled up on the couch with a loved one watching TV (even if it was Octonauts or PJ Masks!!!) - The softness of your pillow as you nodded off to sleep.... Although looking for the small, yet good moments dont take away the challenging ones, when reflections stir happiness in us, our brains release even more chemicals that help us feel better. Small, good thoughts are incredibly powerful!!!

15.01.2022 A beautiful article written by a father as he reflects upon valuing courage as a parent and how this impacts his children Perfect for Fathers Day... https://loom.ly/8BNZR2A

14.01.2022 Today we celebrate all the incredible male role models in our lives. To the dads, step-dads, foster dads, granddads, uncles and other father-figures... the part you play in our families and communities is so important. We hope today you know just how loved, valued, and appreciated you are! Happy Fathers Day!

13.01.2022 This year has been unlike anything our community as a whole has experienced before. The impacts of COVID-19 have caused collective trauma to varying degrees for all of us. During the Mental Health First Aid Course that our key leaders undertook a few months ago, we learnt the importance of knowing what to say and do beyond are you okay?. This little video highlights some simple strategies that we encourage everyone to keep in mind. Struggling with mental health concerns do...es not make someone weak or decrease their worth as a person. As human beings we are wired for connection and therefore when someone is struggling, it takes the courage, empathy and kindness of a community of people who are brave enough to ask R U OK?. It truly does take a community .... #motherduckfamily #ittakesacommunity https://loom.ly/nx92rz0

11.01.2022 What a day! Today our Kindy Teachers and Educational Leaders came together for a follow on from our Professional Networking at Mudjimba Kindy earlier this year. As always, our Visiting Chief Curriculum Officer, Dr Deborah Harcourt inspired us and challenged us A huge shout out also to Mother Duck Kallangur (Brewer Street) and their Kindergarten Team for letting us explore their beautiful environments!

11.01.2022 Here at Mother Duck Kallangur we support children to safely explore using real tools. As children explore and work with tools such as hammers and nails, it supports their development in a number of ways: It supports the development of self-control and decision-making as they engage in assessing and managing safe risks (with the support of an educator) It supports their muscle development in their hands, their hand-eye coordination and motor planning skills (all essential ...for every day tasks!) It supports the development of persistence (it can be quite tricky getting it right!) It supports a sense of agency that comes from having the responsibility of using real tools, improving a child’s self-confidence. This is where incredible learning happens

08.01.2022 Debra Watts, Deputy Principal of the Junior School at Kallangur State School, came in earlier this week to read to our Kindergarten children. Debra also spent some time with our Kindergarten team to explore ways the Kindergarten children can communicate with the Prep children in the near future. Here at Mother Duck Kallangur we value these opportunities to help assist children to become socially and emotionally ready for their transition to Prep We look forward to ongoing... connections in this transition with Kallangur State School.... #ittakesacommunity #motherduckfamily

07.01.2022 This year has been incredibly challenging for everyone. Its in times like these where connections and conversations play an even greater role in maintaining a healthy state of mind. 07.01.2022 Look at our garden bloom!!! The children are enjoying the new flowers, searching for the tiny creatures that lurk secretly in the garden and waiting patiently for out veggies to be ready for harvest. Gardening is a healthy, fun experience for children where they learn to: work together and learn from each other as they develop new skills (planting, tending to the garden and harvesting crops etc). explore basic science concepts (like what living things need to thrive).... develop a love of being in nature which has incredible benefits for mental health and wellbeing. 06.01.2022 Thank you to all the children and families who have expressed their gratitude and appreciation of our amazing educators this week! We had hoped to respond individually to each comment however, as we have been overwhelmed with responses (SO humbling), we decided to share a collective thank you instead.... Our hearts have been so full this week as we have read through the comments posted, cards delivered and emails that were sent through. It is a privilege to do what we do each... and every day and as much as we have the honour of impacting the lives of your children, they very much impact our lives in return Thank you once again - this week has been another example of the amazing community we have within Mother Duck Childcare! #EarlyChildhoodEducatorsDay #ittakesacommunity #motherduckfamily
