25.01.2022 Very sad to hear of Tommy Hafeys death. What an inspirational man. On sleeting cold mornings, running along St Kilda foreshore, I would often see a bronzed Adonis in speedos running towards me. As he got closer I realised it wasnt a buffed young hunk, but the amazingly fit and exuberant Tommy. Id blush at my error of ogling this man old enough to be my grandfather but hed wink and say "morning" as if it was the sunniest, nicest morning to be out. He had a joy of life, of ...moving, of being healthy which seemed to just burst out of every pore. So sad to learn the big C got him, but know this man milked a lifetime out of every day lived. Apparently he was quite good at footy too. RIP Tommy.
23.01.2022 Running not only strengthens my body, it invigorates my soul. It brings a smile to my dial, takes me gorgeous places, sparks great friendships, and makes me feel alive. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and it helps me keep up with my boys! Stop thinking about exercise as weight loss and realise its actually so, so much more.

19.01.2022 Everyones in motion in LA this morning! Running, walking, skating, yoga, defence classes, boot camps on steroids!! All happening. Even saw the iconic rollerblading, guitar playing, turban man from Venice out jogging this morning!!! Ideal city for outdoor fitness, so mild year round. Do it so well - love, love, love the huge outdoor body weight and climbing rope areas!

16.01.2022 Dear All, I will be travelling and unavailable for the next 2.5 weeks. I plan to be a tourist and enjoy all the sites. I also plan to get amongst the locals though. One of my favorite ways to do this is to go for runs and take everything in at a much slower pace than you do in a cab or on a train.... Many (many) years ago when I was backpacking, one of my favorite memories was an early morning jog in the Greek Islands. As I ran up a rugged hillside, with the beautiful Aegean Sea sparkling beneath me, an old man came past with his donkey laden with sticks and tipped his hat good morning. It was like something out of a movie, and an experience you only have out and about away from the tourist buzz. I dont train when Im on holidays, but I do love to keep moving as it helps me see the place Im visiting in a different way. It also stops me feeling sluggish because, lets face it, we all tend to over indulge on holidays dont we?! Motion Matters everyday, everywhere. To my clients, keep moving too! See you when I get back.

Am moving daily and am on holidays so, hey, ignore what you know you SHOULD do sometimes for something you WANT to do (particularly in "The Happiest Place on Earth"!). 10.01.2022 The news today of Robin Williams tragic death sadly brings the topic of depression back into the limelight. Depression, it seems, is a growing illness in our society. It is a complex disease of great range, that can result from a genetic disposition to depression, as well as environmental factors. I have lived my life in the belief that daily exercise keeps me not only physically healthy, but mentally too. Quite simply it makes me feel happy. This was a big part of why I b...ecame a PT. Id seen many people in whom the inner light seemed to have "gone out", but I noticed the light get switched "back on" in people when they rediscovered exercise. Its a high feeling good. The Black Dog Institute have some really interesting pages on the link between managing or lowering some levels of depression. http://www.blackdoginstitute.org.au//Exerciseanddepression They also have some really interesting information about symptoms and causes. No one is immune, we all go through some level of depression at some time or another, so why not arm yourself with a routine that will help you deal better with what life throws at you? RIP Robin and thanks for all the laughter you spread.
10.01.2022 Could not recommend this Rapid Ascent event more. Get out of the gym and onto the trails. In conjunction with this event, Salomon trail running series have 8km, 15km and 23km events the next day, so theres something for everyone - make a weekend of it. 09.01.2022 So true. Go on the tramps with the kids, have a good wrestle, skip or whatever. It's amazing how good it makes you feel. My skin will do what it likes, but the rest of me refuses to act/get "old".....

06.01.2022 Did you know research shows both sunshine and exercise can boost your endorphins (ie make you feel happy!)? So in winter (when its often gloomy) its even MORE important for the health of your mind to keep up your exercise regime, whatever that may be. Dont fall into the winter trudge! Even though its not bikini season, its no time to forget about the health of your body. You will feel fitter and stronger by keeping your body in motion over the winter months too.... So its raining outside? Toughen up princess and get a rain slicker!
06.01.2022 "Come for a run with me" - those 6 little words changed my life. I was about 15 and - thanks to both mum and dad - had always been pretty active, but when dad uttered those words for the first time, it changed my life in a way I could not have comprehended. I originally did it because it meant I got to spend one on one time with my dad. It was our time and he was my hero. ... At first I wheezed and spluttered as we ran/walked our 5km route, sunshine, rain or frost. After a while though, I loved these runs. We talked about everything and enjoyed watching the day wake up together. I got fitter and faster as he patiently jogged by my side and, after a while, we did our first fun run together. They were really special times. Almost 30 years later and I am still running! I can honestly say the simple act of asking me to go for a run inspired me to the lifestyle I now lead, and the enormous enjoyment I get from being outdoors and active everyday! I said to my eldest boy recently "Come for a run with me". Now its my turn to inspire the same love of good health and movement in my boys as my dad did in me. It doesnt matter if you want to walk, ride, swim, run or move in any other way, but who are you going to inspire and whose hero are you going to be?

04.01.2022 Not a weight, piece of cardio equipment, set or rep in sight......but the motion definitely mattered! What a glorious all over workout disguised as the best fun you can have! I stay fit to do this, I become fitter when I do this - what a wonderful cycle.

03.01.2022 I spent the morning on the beach training, ran the trails with friends for my own training, walked the dog and spoke to strangers at the dog park , helped up at school for PYP, then had the neighbours over for kids dinner and Friday night drinks. Its been a low tech, low looking down day, but this link makes me think about the days I dont look up enough.
