24.01.2022 If you’re like me, you always want to do better, be better and keep working on your goals. There is this endless striving for growth! There is a dark-side, it’s important to know the difference. It comes down to mindset. What is the intention? Is there a deep listening or a railroading of your inner world? Are you coming from a place of enoughness and personal satisfaction? Reflection, also has its dark-side. When reflection is done well it looks like curiosity, being kind, ...accepting, being present and acknowledging the wins. Reflection when harmful looks like rumination, harshness, negative self-talk and limiting beliefs. I love this delicate topic. Send me your thoughts and opinions. 17.01.2022 Do you feel disconnected from your fitness and health goals? Do you get down on yourself for not implementing your intentions in the areas of sleep, nutrition, movement and stress management? Do you spiral into all or nothing thinking? What if there was a reframe that actually upgraded your experience? We are all doing this thing called life. You aren’t on or off track, rather you may not have learnt the skill of adjusting your goals to flow with what is going on for you.... If you are super busy, for example- just had a baby, moved house, making a wedding... you might not be on your A game. Some things will not be your highest priority all the time and that’s okay. It’s a skill to learn to adjust so you can feel confident that you’re staying connected to your goals, it’s just that your priorities and goals may have shifted for now. Live easy. Live gently. Beating yourself up for being off track may not support your health long term. Is there another way? 15.01.2022 Does life sometimes feel like an insurmountable uphill battle? Do you feel occasionally overwhelmed? I hear you. There is a lot of struggle out there. Many go through rough experiences at times. Part of the work I do in the world was born from this overwhelm I felt at times while looking after my children. Staring at piles of housework and wondering how would I make it through dinner, bath and bedtime. All that was motherhood on a good day. Then there were the harder days. ...During those times I imagined there had to be a better way. Something to make things easier. I know my experience is not uncommon. Tools I use and continue to use to get through: Acceptance Self knowledge Breath Practice Movement - getting involved in consistent movement practices such as running, lifting and yoga made the biggest shift for me. How do you find your center and return to inner calm? How do you cultivate space for yourself? 15.01.2022 Everyone has a mountain to climb. Your struggle my dear friend is real. There is no other way to cut it, life has challenging times. There is so much going on in the world that I empathize with right now. Being a woman and working with women, I decided in 2013 to run the Mother’s Day Classic. The event is to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. I remember the challenge of even running 2mins. I remember feeling like my lungs would explode. Running that first... race in 2013 was a mountain I chose to climb then. Fast forward after 7yrs of running in this event - Covid hit and the race was virtual. So I went to Albert Park Lake, with my race bib and did my race. So 8yrs in a row I’ve been privileged and healthy enough to run in this race. When I got the recent email about the 2021 event I was unsure about registering. Maybe it would be a virtual event again, it was less exciting. However the universe puts me exactly where I need to be. Today an amazing mum came to gym with the news about her close friend being diagnosed with breast cancer. A friend who did everything she could for her health to avoid illness and yet this is her mountain to climb. Instantly I knew, that’s it - I’m in. I registered for the Mother’s Day Classic. I’ll be running this race for the 9th year in a row. If you’re local and would like to join, maybe make this your mountain to climb and get behind all those women who are fighting beast cancer. 06.01.2022 Do you watch others doing the things you aspire to do and wonder how to get there? How do you take your dreams and implement them into action? Simply, be the participant, not the observer. Take action. Any action is better than no action at all. The downside of this social media platform is that you can easily passively take in information but it’s fairly useless if you don’t take action. ... 06.01.2022 Gratitude for the journey. Life is interesting. So many twists and turns. Today it’s about the simple things for me. I’m grateful for the people who have supported my journey in health and fitness. The many coaches and health practitioners who have taught me so much and continue to make space for me to explore what I’m capable of. I would list them here but that would be a very long list. ... I’m forever grateful to the wonderful women who trust me to be a part of their health and fitness journey. They teach me so much and help me strive towards best practice in my gym and wellness coaching. I know it will happen once they show up and yet I’m still always amazed at their process and progress. Ya’ll know who you are. I realize I’m on my path, you on yours. I don’t know everything but today I invite you to breathe. Yup, that simple. Give yourself the gift of 10 full inhales and exhales. 05.01.2022 You know what you want, you know it should be simple yet you’re not sure where to start. Or somehow days, weeks and months go by with little change to your healthy habits. Coaching wellness looks beyond the obvious. There is knowing what you want to do for your health and wellbeing and then there is getting it done. Sometimes the way to get from where you are now to where you want is uncertain or daunting. Doubt or fear from previous experiences can creep in. This is where c...oaching can be supportive. Whether you are experienced at healthy habit practice or a newbie, I invite you to have a look at the role your schedule plays in your looking after your health.
