14.01.2022 Recently 707 Operations Inc was fortunate to be successful in obtaining former V/Line locomotive A 62 for restoration following an expression of interest applic...ation period by Victrack. We thank VicTrack and V/Line, the Hon. Melissa Horne MP and Dan Andrews for making this locomotive available and for assisting with its transfer from South Dynon to Newport Workshops today. This acquisition allows 707 Operations the opportunity to expand even further, as we continue to provide a very high standard heritage rail experience to the people of metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. A 62 was first built as B 62 for the Victorian Railways in 1952. It was taken out of service in October of 1983 for rebuild and conversion to A 62, entering traffic again in 1984. A62 was the first diesel-electric locomotive to operate a million miles within the Victorian Railway system. Our transfer move from South Dynon to Newport Workshops today has also transferred former Southern Aurora sleeping carriage LAN2352 which has recently been converted to Broad Gauge by our maintenance partners at Gemco Rail. We thank the staff of Gemco rail for their hard work in the last week assisting with this gauge conversion and todays transfer movement. Also thanks to our man on the spot who was able to transfer the bogies from Newport to Dynon and return! Mark, we are forever in your debt. Its a long restoration period ahead for A 62, but you can help in two ways: - Donate to the A 62 restoration project. Your contribution will enable work to be undertaken quickly and see the locomotive back on the tracks in operating condition sooner - https://www.trybooking.com/QWNJ - Your time volunteering to work on A 62 as restoration commences. Meet our team at Newport every Saturday from 10.00am and lend us a hand. We thank everyone who has donated to 707 operations recently during the COVID-19 crisis. Were on track to make upcoming tour announcements very soon. We cant wait to see you on our trains again in the very near future - until we are back running, please consider a donation

06.01.2022 TOOT TOOT is rain a comin' ? If you haven't been to Wycheproof, then put it on your 'Must-do-list'. It is one of the few towns that has a railway line right... through the centre of the main street. Although, locals are used to seeing the trains travelling down the track, it still brings much excitement to hear the tooting, especially when you hear it echo. According to (almost) Wyche Folklore, when you hear a train echo it means there will be rain. Wyche local, Jackie Noonan was out running earlier this week, when she heard the echo of the Southern Shorthaul Railroad, she took this photo and yep, there was light sprinkle of rain the next day. 02.01.2022 4 years already! On 30 October 2016 SSR's S317, GM27, GM10 and S302 work the first "load" of former Leigh Creek coal wagons back to NSW for conversion to grain wagons, seen passing through Brewongle as train 8878. These Locomotives had recently been displayed at the Streamliners 2016 event at Goulburn. The wagons now make up a large fleet for SSR to utilise across South-Eastern Australia on a variety of grain trains. Photo by Dean Jones.
