24.01.2022 DO YOU LOVE SALADS? There is a huge misconception that salads aren’t filling or satisfying, well we are here to prove those naysayers wrong. Salads are a great way to consume a wide variety of vegetables, thus increasing your micronutrient intake! (Umm hello health ) . So if you’re on the fence when it comes to salads.. Try supercharging your next one by implementing some of the below tips -... The bulk of your salad should be from leafy greens. This will give you volume with minimal calories. So think lettuce, baby spinach, kale, cabbage, etc. Include vegetables! Some of our favourites are roast sweet potato, pumpkin, cauliflower, capsicum, eggplant, carrot, etc. Add protein. This is a big one that quite often gets overlooked. Protein is an important macronutrient, so always try to include with every meal. Think fish, chicken, turkey, steak, boiled eggs, etc. Last (but certainly not least) healthy fats.. Try adding some delicious fats to take your salad to the next level - Avocado, olives, sundried tomatoes, olive/coconut oil, nuts, seeds, etc. . Hopefully these tips will help you up you salad game but remember, MORE INGREDIENTS=MORE CALORIES. Be conscious of chosen quantities of the above items because it is possible to over consume ‘healthy foods’ which can prohibit you from seeing results. . 24.01.2022 REALITY ALERT These photos were taken 5 seconds apart.. Of course we often will only post the ‘best’ photo of the bunch but what you may not know is there is usually 20 (or more ) ‘not so flattering’ photos that were taken either side of that one which will never see the light of day. It is only natural that we want others to see us in our best light, however it is equally important to remind ourselves (and others) that the pictures on social media are literally 1 second... of that person’s life. The reality is that NO ONE walks around flexed, posed and perfectly placed 100% of the time. . There is so much pressure to look like the girls who flood our feed. Often comparing ourselves to an image that has been filtered or photoshopped and leaving us with a distorted version of reality. This compromises our relationship with our bodies and in turn impacts our ability to show self-love. It’s great to have a goal to be the healthiest and happiest version of yourself but don’t that that goal define you. You are so much more than a number! . It is no longer about striving to achieve perfection but instead feeling confident in our own skin. Don’t get me wrong, I certainly have my moments where I don’t feel like my best self but as I have grown older I have become more nonchalant about it and more detached from the idea that I have to be picture perfect and more attached to the idea that having a little jiggle is ok. . I have wasted so much time in my younger years striving to look like someone else but have since realised I was not born to look like the girls I was comparing myself to. 24.01.2022 TRAINING VARIATION . With recent restrictions in my training program I have been trying to focus more on rep ranges and tempo, both of which have improved my strength and form immensely! It is so easy to just go through the motions, completing each exercise as listed on your program but how often do you actually think about the movement you’re performing?? . By introducing variations, emphasising on how you perform the movement, mind to muscle connection and time ...under tension you can really maximise your efforts in the gym and reduce possibility of hitting a plateau. 23.01.2022 This morning I hit the gym with the intention of doing a heavy leg session.. but my body had other ideas During the warm up it didn’t feel so good and I quickly realised my hips were absolutely cooked! . I have really amped up my training lately and full disclosure, my sleep has been bloody atrocious over #stresslyf amiright?! Consequently my recovery has suffered. Once upon a time I would have pushed through the pain but I now value my body and the feedback it gives. Rat...her than punishing myself I chose to instead play some @bhwrd and take myself through a yoga flow instead. . Fast forward 30 minutes later and I was feeling a million bucks. It’s important to practise awareness and acknowledge when to surrender to your body and the cues it is giving you. And I have heard loud and clear. Be kind to your body, it’s the only one you have! . 21.01.2022 . RESTORING PARASYMPATHETIC BALANCE . For the first time in a long time I feel that I am in a really good place with my training, nutrition and have a sense of social balance. Funnily enough, I have reduced my training, increased my calories and put more focus on sleep/relaxation + doing things that make me happy (). And spoiler alert.. My body has responded extremely well to these recent changes! Many people are of the belief that you have to go ‘balls to the wall’ to... see results.. After all, spending hours in the gym and eating like a rabbit is the only way to lose weight and maintain you ‘healthy’ physique, right? Well what if I was to tell you, less is sometimes more.. . The parasympathetic nervous system controls homeostasis, is responsible for the body’s ‘rest+digest’ function and restores the body to a state of calm, allowing it to rest+repair. I’ll go in to more detail on this in my upcoming blog but basically the more time we spend in this state the better. So how do we activate the parasympathetic nervous system? Engage in practices or activities that truly make you feel relaxed. That could be, but not limited to - Socialising with friends Reading a book Walk/spend time outside Yoga/meditation Massage - Or what ever it is that makes you happy & relaxed. . 19.01.2022 One pot wonder . I love the convenience of throwing all ingredients in a pan letting it do its thing while I do housework, reply to emails or catch up on MAFS . This quick creation has been my lunch every day this week and you know what, I’m not even mad about it.... Details below - Turkey mince Zucchini Capsicum Mushrooms Paprika + Italian herbs . 1 Preheat pan, add mince + herbs. Once mince is cooked, remove from pan 2 Add vegetables to pan and cook for 5-10 minutes 3 Add mince back to pan, combine and Bob’s your uncle (or Aunty ) . 19.01.2022 Prioritising your social life . I managed to sneak away for the weekend and even though it was only 1 night - It felt like I had been on holiday for a week. It is so easy to get caught up in that ‘hustle’ mentality and tell yourself that ‘you’re too busy’ to spend time away from the thing you’re working towards. I have been making a conscious effort lately to spend more time on myself, for myself and this includes making time for the things I enjoy.. Like celebrating life wit...h friends and family. . Prioritising my social life has actually left me feeling more fulfilled, inspired and motivated. Ironic, isn’t it?! By stepping away from the thing I felt was keeping me away, I am now feeling more productive and assertive towards reaching my goals.. . As the saying goes.. 18.01.2022 Wow, what a difference 2+ years can make! A few years ago I wouldn’t be caught dead in a bikini, let alone posting it on social media.. but this is important! . The photo on the left was taken after I had just returned from a 12 month holiday where I really indulged in everything that each country I visited had to offer ()I had the time of my life and still to this day have ZERO regrets. But with no formal exercise and a complete disregard for caloric intake I managed ...to gain almost 10kg during this time. This was the heaviest I had ever been and I definitely was not in a good headspace. A time where I should have been excited to return home and catch up with friends & family.. I was instead embarrassed about my appearance. In hindsight, I now realise how ridiculous that sounds. . I hated the way I was feeling and I decided to take action. I started exercising regularly, consuming healthier foods and put the knowledge I had to good use. Slowly but surely the weight started to come off and my mental wellbeing improved DRASTICALLY! Not only have I managed to lose the weight but more importantly I have kept it off. Fast forward to 2+ years later I am now the strongest and healthiest I have ever been. I now have such a positive relationship with food and training. To be honest, that is what has been the biggest transformation of all. My previous binge eating habits are almost non-existent and I now exercise because I LOVE IT! Keep in mind this has been a long journey (2+ years!) and these results are a reflection of nothing but dedication and consistency. We have started incorporating a variety of these classes in to our programs and could not recommend enough Such a great way to wind down after a long day and reconnect. 16.01.2022 What size are you? Size 10? Size 14? Size 16? . Society is so quick to smack a label on and categorise us. But how important is this number really?! *NEWSFLASH* IT. Does. Not. Matter. Scale weight and clothing tags do not define you, but being confident in the skin you’re in is what DOES matter . We are constantly trying to look like the girls who flood our social media feeds but sometime hormones, stress and genetics can get in the way of that ‘DREAM BOD’ we’ve... been trying so desperately to achieve.. Putting unnecessary stress and self doubt on ourselves. Leaving us wondering why we aren’t getting the same results as ‘that girl’ even though you’ve followed the fitness plan to a tee and have been eating like ZERO calories for what feels like forever (which I do not condone btw ).. . But don’t believe everything you read or everything that is implied on these platforms. The truth of the matter is that majority of these girls have been grinding away for months, if not years to achieve that body. And anything you can achieve quickly is usually not sustainable. 15.01.2022 CHOCOLATE CRACKLE SLICE Let the nostalgia set in There is something celebratory about the ol’ chocolate crackle that always gets me in the mood for a good time! It could be the fact that these were a staple at every birthday party during the 90’s or could just be because they are delicious AF Regardless the sentiment, this recreation of a childhood classic has been the highlight of my week and I am so excited to share the goods! I have tried + tested (more times ...than I’d care to admit) and think it would be a crime to keep so much goodness to myself.. So here it is, my Chocolate Crackle Slice (GF, DF & RSF of course ) 70g Rice puffs 1/2 C Peanut butter 70ml S/free Maple syrup 40g Coconut oil 20-30g Raw cocoa powder (depending on preferred taste) 1 Melt peanut butter + coconut oil in microwave 2 Add maple syrup + dry ingredients. Combine well 3 Transfer mixture in to slice tin lined with baking paper 4 Freeze 15-30 mins to set. 5 Cut, serve + enjoy responsibly (Good luck with that!) Serves 16 92 Calories/slice P: 2.9 C: 4.2 F: 7

12.01.2022 Birthday calories don’t count, right? There was a time in my life when social events or meals out with friends made me extremely nervous. I knew that eating off plan would lead to a lack of self-control and often ended in me pushing the ‘f*ck it’ button turning a meal out into a total binge. Looking back now I realise this was a result of restrictive behaviours and expectations I had put on myself. Categorising foods in to ‘GOOD’ + ‘BAD’. Depriving myself of the things that m...ade me happy because society had me believe that in order to be fit, healthy and look good I had to eat nothing but oats, broccoli and chicken It has taken many years but I now have much more of a lifestyle approach towards my heath + fitness and this is something I really push on to my clients. 12.01.2022 SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT . YOU GUESSED IT... I’m bloated AF Sorry to disappoint those of you praying for a mini MOTIV Fitness princess, but for now you’ll have to settle for a bloat baby . I want to share everything with you guys and I love sharing the highlights of my life but I want to share the not so glamorous sides also.... . Unfortunately I am a serial bloater. This is something that is still quite new for me and only really become an issue over the last few years.. I was also recently diagnosed gluten and lactose intolerant so I know (for the most part) which foods to steer clear of. But even by doing so, this is a regular occurrence for me - I’m talking once a week at least . Sometimes I know exactly what has caused the bloat & sometimes I don’t.. I’ll be the first to admit that occasionally I’ll surrender and rep that #YOLO life for a yummy meal with friends or family (ummm, have you ever tried saying no to a pint of Ben&Jerry’s?!) but other times it can be something as simple as cauliflower (as pictured above). Because of this I am in a constant game of trial and error to figure out what foods I am sensitive too and cause digestive distress. . I do however have a few things I like to implement when the bloat hits - Exercise Peppermint, ginger or chamomile tea Lemon water or ACV Don’t stress, you’ll be back you your old self in no time . 11.01.2022 Boys feel free to scroll on, we are about to dive head first in some serious GIRL TALK . EXERCISING ON YOUR PERIOD + SHOULD YOU DO IT?! . Most of us don’t feel like doing much of anything while on our period (other than napping and eating chocolate, duh ). But there are so many benefits to dragging our bloated bodies out the door and get moving.... . Exercise has the ability to increase the oxygen supply to muscles and release endorphins; thus improving sleep, mood and assist in alleviating cramps - who wouldn’t want that . Exercising might just be the best possible thing you can do while on your period and leave you feeling better than any double dose of ibuprofen. Now this doesn’t have to be your usual ‘balls to the wall’ sweat-fest of a workout. . During this time of the month you might opt for something a little lighter, especially if you’re not feeling your normal self. You might want to replace that with yoga, Pilates, light cardio or even some stretches/meditation Any of these will have you reaping the benefits. Personally I try to keep my training schedule as close as possible, but likely to reduce the weights slightly (especially for the first day or two at least) and always adding an extra 10 minutes of stretching and deep breathing at the end of my sessions. . Most importantly I always ensure I am getting enough rest. Getting a good night’s sleep can become difficult on the days leading up to your period due to a drop in estrogen + progesterone levels and a decrease in oestrogen during your cycle can cause disruptions to your sleep. Some key tips to improve sleep during your cycle are Keep your bedroom cool Exercise regularly/stretch Keep fixed bed + wake up times Switching up your sleeping positions, try using extra pillows to get comfortable . With a combination of fatigue, cravings, fluctuating hormones and mood swings.. Getting that body moving and quality sleep could be just what the doctor order to increase your mood, reduce PMS symptoms and have you feeling better about the bloat See more

We buy in to sensationalised weight loss programs which promise your dream body in **insert ridiculous short timeframe here** So it is no wonder that not only we believe that years of overeating and under training can be undone in a matter of weeks but also that we will be able to keep the weight... off long term. - Permanent weight loss takes time and this requires patience. Extreme weight loss programs will blind you with a short term reward but will do nothing for you in the long run. Research confirms that only 5% of diets provide sustainable long term results. Main reason being that these cookie cutter programs require drastic lifestyle changes that are not sustainable and before you know it you are back where you started from, if not worse Then the sense of disappointment sets in.. That overwhelming feeling of failure because yet again, ‘you fell off the wagon’. But let’s get real, the only failure here is the ridiculous program you’ve been fooled in to following, NOT YOU! - You are forced to practise restrictive behaviours, sacrifice your social life and before you know it exercise starts to feel like punishment. I have made a conscious effort lately to spend more time outside and incorporate active rest days where I might go for a walk or practice yoga. 04.01.2022 MORNING ROUTINE, DO YOU HAVE ONE? . How you choose to start your day can really impact your mood and set the tone for the day ahead! . I have always had a bad habit of snoozing my alarm 1000x then running around in a panic to get ready for gym/work and having to rush out the door. This left me feeling frantic and this mood would stick around for most (if not all) of the day.. Which was not ideal.... . Fast forward to now - I make a conscious effort to get out of bed on that first alarm, pour myself a coffee, have breakfast (if I feel like it), then head to the gym before work. And since implementing this morning routine, I now find my mood is elevated and stress levels have decreased. Now, I’m not saying your morning routine has to look like this.
