25.01.2022 Enzo was a factory driver for Alfa Romeo in the 1920s, but by the end of the decade he had created . Following a move to Marenello, the outbreak of War, and subsequent factory rebuilding efforts, Ferrari got to work on the 125 S, a 1.5-litre 12 cylinder sports car which was the first to bear the Ferrari name. The machine was a success out of the box, claiming the Rome Grand Prix shortly after its debut in 1947, with the young brand concentrating its efforts on competition success. #motorclassica #classicenthusiasts #classiccars #classicferraris #ferrarifriday #vintagecars #sportscars #ferrari #ferrari125S

24.01.2022 No other marque in the history of the automobile evokes the passion garnered by the Cavallino Rampante badge, otherwise known as the Prancing Horse of Ferrari. The appetite for brute horsepower and slick lines can be traced back to the early days of company founder Enzo Ferrari, whose lust for success in motoring circles saw him build an empire that conquered all, both on the race track and at the top end of town. 20.01.2022 #RacingThroughTime Not many people would remember Graeme Steinfort’s 1928 Austin 7 Sports, which was reconstructed from the driveline of the machine that took Captain Arthur Waite to victory in the 1928 AGP. Contested on the original Phillip Island road course, the small car beat home the field of under 2,000cc cars over 16 laps. #motorclassica #classicenthusiasts #classiccars #vintagecars #racecars #motorsports #AGP #1928Austin #PhillipIsland

20.01.2022 The stature of Ferrari means that it is always a star attraction at Motorclassica, with the event over time having hosted examples of most of the models that have emerged from the Marenello skunkworks. From the 1951 195 EL Coupe, through to the 2016 La Ferrari Aperta, all of the greatest Ferrari models have drawn in crowds to the Royal Exhibition Building. 16.01.2022 1937 Cord 812 Custom Berline Some marques are synonymous with fame, including the legendary American manufacturer Cord. Terry Dowel's 1937 Cord 812 Custom Berline is once such example, ordered specially from the factory by Hollywood legend Bing Crosby. The car was regularly seen at Paramount Studios as the late great crooner went to work making movies, including a string of successful films with Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour. #motorclassica #classicenthusiasts #classictales #cord812 #vintagemecanique #classiccar #vintagecar #vintagecars #voitureclassique

16.01.2022 2020 is a landmark anniversary year for several classic Italian motoring brands. Following Alfa Romeo's 110th birthday, the design firm responsible for some of their most iconic automobiles and those of many other brands is celebrating its own 90th anniversary. Pininfarina may not be a household name like many of the legendary vehicles they designed, but motoring history would be very different and a lot less stylish without the Turin-based studio's involvement. 13.01.2022 The classics continued to be churned out by the Marenello artists in the mid-1980s, including the 288 GTO, considered by many to be the first Ferrari supercar, and the Testarossa, followed by the final machine overseen by company patriarch, the F40. By 1995, the F40 had given way to the F50, which was to be replaced by the F60, although the brand was so thrilled with the car, it was instead named the Ferrari Enzo. #Ferrari #motorclassica #classicenthusiasts #ScuderiaFerrari #ferrarif40 #ferrarif50 #ferrari288gto #FerrariEnzo #classicferrari #classiccars #italiansupercars

12.01.2022 Motorclassica 2015 was a celebration for the Dino nameplate, featuring numerous cars named in the honour of Enzo Ferrari’s son Alfredo, who died in 1956. ‘Dino’s’ final role working within Ferrari was on the company’s vee-engine project, and subsequently, from the early 1960s, cars fitted with vee-angled power plants were designated Dino. This naming convention extended to the broader Fiat family, with Ferrari V6s fitted to limited runs of Coupes and Spyders. Included in the Dino display that year were a trio of 246 GTs and a pair of the newer 308s. #Motorclassica #classicenthusiasts #ferrari #ferraridino #dino246 #classiccars #motorshow #classiclovers

11.01.2022 A highlight for the marque at Motorclassica came in 2015 when a 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso (otherwise known as a Luxury model), scooped the pool, earning the award for the Best in Show out of the hundreds of cars on display. One of only 350 constructed, the car was the road focussed derivative of the 250 GT SWB and 250 GTO track-bred specials, with the wailing 3.0-litre V12 continuing to provide a thrill to this day. #Motorclassica #ferrari250GT #bestinshow #classiccarshow #concoursedelegance #antiquecars #classiccars #luxurycars #classiccars #ferrari #vintagecars #classicferrari #ferrarifirday

08.01.2022 High tech wizardry was far from being on the agenda in the early days of the marque, although competition triumph put the brand on the map, with victories in the 1948 Mille Miglia with a 166 S Coupe Allemano, as commanded by Clemente Biondetti and Giuseppe Navone, as well as the 1949 Le Mans 24 Hours, with a British entered 166 MM steered by Luigi Chinetti, Peter Mitchell-Thomson and Lord Selsdon claiming the win. #motorclassica #classicenthusiasts #ferrrari #ferrari166s #ferrari166MM #classicferrari #vintage #italiansportscar

05.01.2022 #RacingThroughTime The Brabham BT19, as driven by Jack Brabham to victory in the 1966 World Driver’s Championship, the first ever (and likely last) car to bear the driver’s name to claim the title. Designed by adopted Australian Ron Tauranac, the BT19 as powered by a 2,995cc Repco V8 engine propelled Brabham to four wins from seven starts, also playing its part in winning that year’s International Cup for F1 Manufacturers. The chassis was also campaigned for one event by Denny Hulme on his ultimately victorious 1967 campaign as Brabham’s teammate, although the car failed to make the finish of the British Grand Prix on that day. #motorclassica #classicenthusiasts #classiccars #racecars #vintagecars #motorsports #Brabham #BT19

03.01.2022 #RacingThroughTime Another Motorclassica Brabham was the 1967 BT23E, which was constructed for Brabham to use in the Tasman Series of 1968. The car was then sold to Bob Jane, and was briefly used by Allan Moffat, before finally finding success in the 1970 Australian Gold Star with John Harvey at the controls. While the Brabham nameplate was at the forefront through the 1960s, Motorclassica has played host to a vast array of other machinery that has been successful, especially in Australian Grand Prix competition. #motorclassica #classicenthusiasts #classiccars #motorsports #AGP #vintagecars #Brabham #BT23E
