24.01.2022 Former Moto3 World Champion and current British Superbike Championship rider Danny Kent is in the motorsport headlines this week, after being handed a 4-month jail sentence and 12 months suspended sentence for possession of a knife in a public place. The reported story is that Kent got into an altercation with a 63-year-old man, alongside his brother in the West Street car park in Tetbury, Gloucestershire on March 7th. Kent told officers he and his brother were collecting a d...ebt and that he’d have not used the 6-inch blade knife in anger. The Brit has been released fro MV Agusta team, with Gino Rea set to take his place on the team at this weekend's round of the British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park. It looks like the end of what had turned out to be a disappointing career for Kent after the 25-year-old clinched the Moto3 world title in 2015 with six wins to his name, becoming Britain's first GP World Champion since Barry Sheene back in 1977. Since then he never really hit the highs he was destined for, his promotion to Moto2 yielding modest results until he exited the series mid-way through the 2018 season. He only recently entered the British Superbike scene, making his debut last month.

21.01.2022 Rea secures fifth successive World Superbike title - 32-year-old Northern Irishman, Jonathan Rea, became the first rider to win five World Superbikes titles this weekend after taking victory in Race Two at Magny-Cours. Rea took the title with rounds to spare after his nearest rival Alvaro Bautista exited early in Race Two after being taken out by Toprak Razgatlioglu. With Rea becoming the first rider to win four successive World Superbike titles last season, it looked like he...'d cruise to his fifth soon but nobody expected the prize to be won this Sunday, Turkey's Razgatlioglu beat Rea in the morning's Sprint Race which was the same result as Saturday's Race One. This meant that victory for the Kawasaki rider in Race Two was guaranteed to land him the title, but only if Spaniard Bautista finished outside the top 11, an unlikely result had the rider finished the race, with many expecting Bautista to strongly challenge. However, Razgatlioglu's mistake ultimately ended the affair, taking out Bautista in the process, effectively calling it a day for both involved. This left Rea with only Dutchman Michael van der Mark in his path, with both riders swapping positions frequently, it went down to the wire. But, the defending champion gradually edged clear of Van der Mark to secure the victory that ensured his five-in-a-row.

18.01.2022 #MotoGP roundup - round 8/19 Motul TT Assen It was a victory for the Yamaha Factory Racing Team as, 24-year-old Spaniard, Maverick Vinales claimed his sixth MotoGP victory at the weekend. Although it was only his first win since October 2018, you wouldn't have thought that based on his performance on the Dutch track calmly cruising to the top of the podium. He was unchallenged for the final 12 laps, easily pipping fellow Spaniard and current World Champion Marc Marquez. Ma...rquez will be happy enough with the result as it pushes him now 44 points ahead of Andrea Dovizioso on the overall standings. In his interview, he stated "I knew Yamaha was very very strong in practice, so this is like a victory. Vinales - he deserves the win". Young Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, 20, who started on pole, finished in 3rd place, producing back to back podium finishes. The next round takes place on the 7th July in Sachsenring, Germany for the German Grand Prix

14.01.2022 #MotoGP roundup - round 14/19 Aragon Grand Prix Sunday's action saw Marc Marquez dominate yet again to claim victory at MotorLand Aragon, taking his overall lead to 98 with 300 points in the standings. This means the 26-year-old Honda rider can clinch the championship with victory in the next round. The Spaniard cruised to the win in his homeland with another astonishing display, showcasing why he's well on his way to his fourth successive and sixth overall World Championsh...ip, finishing a ridiculous 4.836secs ahead of second place, Italian, Andrea Dovizioso. Aussie Jack Miller completed the podium with Maverick Vinales finishing fourth. British rider Cal Crutchlow finished in sixth place. The next round of the 2019 season takes place in Thailand at the Chang International Circuit on the 6th October, will Marquez complete the task of clinching the title? Or will the inevitable be pushed back with a shock result?

12.01.2022 #MotoGP roundup - round 7/19 Catalunya Grand Prix With Marc Marquez capitalising on an early crash in Barcelona, the title race in this seasons MotoGP looks to already be over. An unfortunate slip from fellow Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo not only saw his race come to an end but also cut the day short for Andrea Dovizioso, Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales. Marquez narrowly avoided the collision and with his nearest rivals crashing out, the Honda rider strode to his fourth vict...ory of the season, extending his lead on the standings to 37 points and the current champion is showing no signs of slowing down. His nearest rival Dovizioso will surely be feeling bitter after the result, with the Italian knowing he was the only rider realistically capable of catching up with Marquez at the moment. It was a successful day however for the young Fabio Quartararo who, after a fantastic day in qualifying saw him on pole position, finished in second place, his highest placed finish of the season and although the crash will steal the headlines, take nothing away from the Frenchman. 3rd place went to Danilo Petrucci, two weeks on from his maiden win in Italy. The next round takes place this Sunday in Holland at the TT Circuit Assen, although we hope for an entertaining race that sees the beginning of Marquez being caught up on the standings, we predict another routine win for the Spaniard.

10.01.2022 #MotoGP roundup - round 13/19 San Marino Grand Prix It was business as usual for Marc Marquez this past Sunday after another thrilling encounter which saw the race go down to the wire, after a final lap battle with French rookie Fabio Quartararo, saw him take 1st place at the Misano World Circuit. After two consecutive 2nd place finishes in which Marquez saw his lead stole from him on the final lap, the Spaniard was more than keen to show the world why he is the current Wo...rld Champion and increase his already enormous lead on the standings for the season, and he did just that with a 0.903 gap victory over the 20-year-old Quartararo. The championship leader ultimately prevailed to move to 77 wins across all classes, the fourth most of all time. He also increased his lead in the standings to 93 points ahead of his nearest competitor, Italian Andrea Dovizioso, who could only manage a 6th place finish. Another Spaniard, Maverick Vinales completed the podium, with veteran rider Valentino Rossi taking 4th spot. The next round takes place at the Aragon Grand Prix in Spain on the 22nd, will Marquez cruise to victory again? Or will Quartararo get his first victory in his debut season in the MotoGP?

06.01.2022 #MotoGP roundup - round 10/19 Czech Republic Grand Prix It was business as usual for Marc Marquez on Sunday, recording his 50th MotoGP win and extending his overall lead with victory at the Czech Republic Grand Prix. After an extended break from the previous race, another victory for the Spaniard taking place almost a month ago in Germany, Marquez showed no signs of slowing down in Brno.... Having dominated qualifying, Marquez broke clear of Italian Andrea Dovizioso to become only the fourth rider to achieve 50 premier class wins. It was also his sixth victory of the season, increases his lead over Dovizioso to 63 points after 10 rounds. Ducati's Jack Miller completed the podium, with Alex Rins and Cal Crutchlow finishing 4th and 5th respectively. The next round takes place in Austria from the 9-11th August, will Marquez further increase his lead at the top of the leaderboard or will the Italian Dovizioso finally be able to close the gap?

06.01.2022 #MotoGP roundup - round 12/19 British Grand Prix Sunday's action at Silverstone proved to be an entertaining affair, with 23-year-old Alex Rins coming out on top, narrowly edging out World Champion Marc Marquez at the last hurdle. It looked like it'd be the seventh victory of the season for Marquez, starting on pole and leading for pretty much the entirety of the race, only for Rins to produce a spectacular piece of riding for his second win of the season.... It looked like Rins from Barcelona was going to finish agonisingly close until he zoomed past Marquez with the last manoeuvre of the race. With the season-long heated battle between the two Spaniards still ongoing, the podium celebrations were very much muted. Another Spaniard, Maverick Vinales, was third, with MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi a place further back. Briton Cal Crutchlow struggled to make an impact on home soil, only placing in sixth. Sunday's action sees Marquez extend his lead to 78 points, after his nearest competitor, Italian Andrea Dovizioso crashed out on the first lap, after colliding with young Frenchman Fabio Quartararo. He was taken to hospital but has been given the all-clear. The next round takes place on the 15th of September in San Marino, Italy.

04.01.2022 Electric Motorcycles With constant Global Warming warnings and the devastating effect vehicles are having on our planet, it is no surprise that electric motorbikes are finally being taken seriously. With the UK Government under pressure to bring its ban on the sales of new petrol and diesel cars and vans forward, it is expected a direct impact on the bike market too. Why should you choose electric?... There are plenty of advantages to electric motorcycles. Aside from the environmental benefits, electric motors are incredibly efficient, all acceleration is handled directly by the motor, meaning there’s no need for a gearbox or clutch. And while the lack of engine noise might be a turn-off to purists, many riders are receiving a record number of complaints. So electric-powered vehicles may well be the future for bikes to exist alongside the public. Electric motorcycles are currently ideal for commuting in urban areas with stop-start journeys and constant traffic jams easily draining the petrol from a normal motorcycle, but electric motorcycles have the advantage of using a battery, which can last longer. Most electric motorcycles also use a regenerative braking system which slowly recharges your bikes battery over the journey. At first electric motorcycles may seem a bit pricey compared to your standard bike, but a combination of not having to fork out sums and sums of money every year on petrol/diesel and the government’s electric vehicle subsidy has since coming into effect, which can be up to 20% of a bikes value, can save you a lot of money over time, especially when electric counterparts are heavily reliable and efficient. 01.01.2022 #MotoGP roundup - round 9/19 German Grand Prix Marc Marquez has stretched his lead at the top of the championship to 58 points after his fifth victory of the season whilst also completing another personal milestone, with this being his 10th victory at the Sachsenring circuit. British rider Cal Crutchlow, however, stole the headlines yesterday finishing on the podium in third place, 7.741 seconds behind Marquez, despite the horrific injury he endured just four days prior to ...the race. Crutchlow fractured his leg and damaged knee ligaments in the incident on Wednesday. Fellow Spaniard Maverick Vinales completed the podium in Germany 4.587 seconds behind his countryman. The next race on the calendar takes place in the Czech Republic on the 4th August, giving the riders a well-earnt break after an entertaining few weeks in this seasons MotoGP.

01.01.2022 #MotoGP roundup - round 11/19 Austrian Grand Prix Andrea Dovizioso snuck the victory on Sunday over World Champion Marc Marquez, to leave the Spaniard still in search of his first victory at Spielberg's Red Bull Ring. A time of 0.213 seconds separated the riders, ending what looked like another routine win for Marquez. After Marquez claimed a record 59th pole position, the Honda rider led for much of the race, but at the last corner the Italian edged out for the victory, o...nly his second of the season since his triumph in Qatar in March. Dovizioso overtook Marquez with nine laps to go and although the five-time champion regained the lead with three laps left, Dovizioso snatched victory at the death. French rookie Fabio Quartararo completed the podium, leading for the first four laps but couldn't continue that momentum to keep up with the experienced Dovizioso and Marquez. Although still 48 points behind the current World Champion, Dovizioso has closed the gap slightly heading into the next round, which takes place on the Silverstone Circuit, here in the UK on the 25th August.
