25.01.2022 #MEETMOTUM - Rounding off the team is Clinical Director, Andrew Bright. Andrew is a self-confessed wheelchair nut. He's an Occupational Therapist with almost 25 years experience clinical experience, much of it spent focusing on complex postural seating needs. While his perfectionist tendencies may drive the rest of the team up the wall at times, they certainly work in our clients' favour - he'll keep fine-tuning until he knows he's sending them off in comfort and with the most ideal set up.

24.01.2022 WHO'S KEEN TO SET SAIL? Our friends at Sailability at RPYC (accessible and inclusive sailing opportunities for people of all abilities) are hoping to find some new recruits for the winter season. We're all for helping our clients to embrace opportunities so we said we'd help to spread the word, as sailing can be such an empowering and enjoyable activity. ... A variety of vessels are used, from small stable two-person dinghies to 20 foot and larger yachts. 24.01.2022 We are so excited to be delivering this chair to its new owner very soon. Didn't she do a great job choosing the colour scheme?

22.01.2022 The right equipment really can change lives It was so wonderful to receive an update from Hannah's dad Ian after they road tested her new X-Rover - affectionately named "The Chariot". We love the fact the fact that the whole family was able to head out orienteering together!

22.01.2022 A big congrats to Clint Mitchell who has just celebrated his 20th year of working with power wheelchairs He still loves the fact that every day he has the opportunity to create solutions that enable independence and last week was no different. He prepared this mini power chair set up for a 5 year old client to trial...and she loved it! Featuring a Pride Mobility Products Corp. Quantum Edge 3 Stretto base, complete with a 12" seat (growable to 16") and smaller components to ensure it is well proportioned. It's the smallest power chair that Motum has ever created.

21.01.2022 It's been really busy of late... so we're looking to grow our clinical team! If you happen to know a great OT or Physio who would be a good fit for our team and/or is an equipment whiz we'd be super grateful if you were to give them a nudge in our direction. Applications close Thursday 15th April.

21.01.2022 How good was our very own Dana Hooker on the field today? Huge props to such a hard working therapist, mum and footballer! via @freodockers. #aflw #teammotum #godockers

21.01.2022 Now *these* are the kinds of smiles that make our day! Saba is rocking her new chair. We the P-Pod because it provides a great balance between comfort and support, making it perfect for enjoying downtime at home.

20.01.2022 WE'RE ON THE MOVE! **LONG POST ** It's been a little under five years since we first opened our clinic room on Cambridge Street in Wembley with a plan to bring some exciting new products to the WA market. In that time our product range has grown, and so have we. And as anyone who's visited lately will know, we've been bursting at the seams for a while... ... We're excited to let you know that we'll be opening our new clinic rooms in Osborne Park on Monday 12 November. Our new street and postal address will be Unit 1 / 7 King Edward Rd Osborne Park. It's located just off Scarborough Beach Road and a stone's throw from Westfield Innaloo. There's plenty of on-site parking available. Our telephone number will remain the same. The team will be busy undertaking the big move during the latter half of this week, so if it takes us a little longer than normal to respond to emails and phone calls please bear with us. There's some heavy lifting to be done...not to mention decorating and unpacking! We look forward to welcoming you to Motum's new home very soon. As always though, please remember you'll need to book an appointment time as we're a small and busy team. We thank you for your ongoing support over the past four and a half years and in advance for your patience over the next few days.

20.01.2022 His smile says it all! Mikey is now the proud owner of one very cool SORG wheelchair

20.01.2022 It takes a pretty big event to get so many of us in the same place these days...and it was one of those days. Today we farewelled our longstanding team member, and admin superstar Nat (fifth from the left) . Nat has been such an integral part of our team since 2015 when she joined Andrew and Kym as the first Motum employee. Needless to say, she's been a part of some BIG changes over the past six years! ... Nat - we will miss your energy and knowledge but we wish you the absolute best with your next adventures!

18.01.2022 This week we learnt that we'd been awarded Medifab Ltd's Star Australian Dealer of the Year Award in recognition of our team's "competence, enthusiasm and energy". We're so grateful for the recognition Medifab Ltd - thank you, and we're looking forward to unpacking our first-ever trophy in our next delivery! What a way to end a HUGE 2017! Thank you to all our clients and suppliers for making it a great (and very busy) year - we're looking forward to doing it all again.... once we've had a short break to recharge!

18.01.2022 How awesome does Owen's new ride look? He's rocking his custom made, hand-built SORG Mio - one of the best first wheelchairs out there - complete with unique (and seriously funky) spokeguards and light up castors.

18.01.2022 We might have been slow off the mark with sharing this one but slow is definitely not something we can accuse Motum client Robert Crofts of being! He's just bought home gold and silver medals and been named one of two Australian Para Sailing Champions for 2020! Pretty impressive given he only took up sailing 2 years ago...in between training for marathons! We were delighted when he popped by recently to show us his medals . We were also very impressed that he managed to convince Andrew to pose for a photo with him! We LOVE that so many of our clients are willing to push the boundaries and do the things that make them happy!

17.01.2022 Proof that great things can happen in the accessibility space when innovative organisations collaborate. We'll done City of Cockburn, Rocky Bay and Cockburn Ice Arena!

17.01.2022 **EDIT** You lot are amazing! Thank you for all the kind words **FURTHER EDIT** 24 hours on and the review has been removed however we have been so humbled by everyone who has written a review, reached out or shared their own experiences with us and want to again express our thanks! CAN YOU HELP? As you all know we really pride ourselves on going above and beyond for our clients, however, today we received a 1-star Google review. This was from an individual who got ver...y upset with our team when we explained that we (along with all other Australian distributors) are legally required to set a speed limit on our power assistance devices to keep everyone safe. Not only that, we don't believe he is, or has ever been, a Motum client. Needless to say, were all a little rattled by the experience and the fact that this unfair assessment of us has been published for all to see. We have never asked anyone to write a review for us before... but, as this is now the first thing that people will see when they search for Motum on Google, we would like to encourage anyone who has had a positive experience working with us in the past to consider writing a short Google review. We hope that getting a few extra reviews might provide people who don't know us with a more accurate description of what they can expect. Thanks in advance! Andrew, Kym, Donna, Sarah, Clint, Sue, Nat, Liam, Nadia + Ken

17.01.2022 And that's a wrap on 2019 for the Motum team! What a big year it's been, and we want to thank you - our clients, therapist partners and suppliers - for making it a great one! We're now closed through until Monday 6 January so that our team can recharge their batteries. Have a happy and healthy Christmas everyone!

14.01.2022 #MEETMOTUM - Jim Ratcliffe is our 'behind-the-scenes' guru with the very impressive title of Biomedical Engineering Technician. What this means is that Jim is one of WAs most experienced trouble-shooters when it comes to rehabilitation equipment. He works closely with our therapists to design and customise products whenever theres a need - we really will go to all lengths to ensure a comfortable fit!

14.01.2022 #MEETMOTUM - Dana Hooker, our Clinical Specialist, may be the newest member of the Motum team but shes the perfect fit in terms of experience and attitude. A hands-on doer, Dana gained her clinical experience working in paediatrics after completing her studies. Prior to joining Motum she actually worked alongside us and loved seeing the difference correctly prescribed postural and mobility equipment could make to the lives of her clients.

13.01.2022 Exploration and adventure is such an important part of every kid's development. We seeing the delight on little faces as we help them find ways to do that. Enjoy riding in your new car seat Scarlett!!

12.01.2022 **POSTPONED** Given this is a hands-on course, and in light of suggested distancing measures to keep people safe from COVID-19, we have taken a decision to reschedule these training sessions to a later date. * * * ... TRAINING OPPORTUNITY We're partnering up with Joana at Medifab Ltd to provide not one but TWO professional development training days for WA therapists who would like to enhance their clinical reasoning skills in determining the optimal seating and positioning strategies when working with clients with moderate to complex postural needs. 11.01.2022 There's nothing like a chair that ticks all the boxes - clinically and aesthetically. This little beauty is now very much being put through its paces by Eva - who we understand is having a great time with it!

10.01.2022 Look at Eva work that SORG! There's so much to love about these chairs, especially the build quality and...as we can all see from Eva's moves, awesome maneuverability!

10.01.2022 At this rate we reckon this little legend will be popping wheelies in no time at all ! Equipment handovers are one of the best parts of our day and seeing Josh in his first chair (a SORG MIO) made our hearts sing!

09.01.2022 "I love my PantheraX chair...we did it together!!" We were so thrilled to hear about our client Robert's recent marathon experience. Panthera Wheelchairs make incredible kit so we're not surprised it held it's own across the 42km and helped in cross the finish line in 5h34 minute. #champion #pantherax

08.01.2022 WE'RE POWERING UP We're excited to share some news... we've got new team members! Say hello to Clint Mitchell and Sue Clarke - these guys are likely to be familiar to anyone who's had anything to do with powered wheelchairs in WA over the past two decades. They are, in our opinion, some of the best in the business. ... And, because we know they like to be kept busy, we're growing our range of powered chairs. Just like our manual chairs, we've handpicked the ones that we think tick all the boxes - looks, performance and build quality - so we have some of the newest Quickie Wheelchair models as well as Pride Quantum and Glide chairs. Exciting times! Andrew + Kym

08.01.2022 The Motum team will be at ATSA Independent Living Expo this week with some awesome new demo chairs and mobility kit from Panthera AB, Medifab Ltd, Anatomic SITT AB, SORG and Wolturnus as well as a new-to-Australia cushion range from Systam. 08.01.2022 Calling all therapists Tomorrow is the final day to secure a place at the wheelchair scripting workshop that Andrew and Kym will be delivering at the Independent Living Centre next Wednesday.

08.01.2022 GOING THE DISTANCE! We love troubleshooting to help people achieve their goals. When Terry told us he wanted a chair that he could use to participate in half marathons and marathons with a friend we were definitely up for the challenge! Now look at him go! The end result was a (highly customised) Wolturnus W5 which we paired with a Mogo Wheelchairs Molab Smartwheel! ... A big thanks to Terry and Jemma at Yellow Door Therapy Services for sharing this video. It made our day!

08.01.2022 WE'VE GROWN! A belated welcome to Sarah Spano, our newest addition to the Motum team. An experienced OT, she's now on the fast-track to becoming a mobility equipment expert too! It's also 'all hands on deck' at the ATSA Expo this week, making it the perfect opportunity for Motum's first ever therapist team pic! By our friends and ATSA neighbours @medifab_ltd

06.01.2022 We just wanted to say a big thanks to all of the clients and therapists who have supported our move to video-based appointments this week. It was a decision we took to keep our community as safe as possible. This approach helps to ensure that people are still able access the right equipment and apply for funding (because we all know how long that can sometimes take...) while we all adopt the necessary social distancing measures. Over the years weve used video clinics on ...a regular basis with our regional clients and their therapists and with really good results. In case youre wondering, our team are able to script the following items for existing and new clients: Wheelchairs Seating Strollers Bathing aids Sleep systems Standing and walking frames If you have more questions about how it works weve included a link to our Q+A email to therapists in the comments below, otherwise send us a message or email [email protected]. Were all in this together stay safe everyone!

06.01.2022 T H I S This is why we love working with equipment. It really can change lives

06.01.2022 A few of our team will be pounding the pavement this month for this great initiative that will benefit some wonderful kids and their families. Anyone else doing #Maytivation, the month long choose-your-own marathon (push, run, walk, swim etc)?

06.01.2022 The Wiggles are in town this weekend, and we suspect there is one very excited Emma Watkins fan out there looking to show off her new wheels! We love scripting and making chairs that we know our clients will love - like this cute little SORG Mio!

05.01.2022 WE'RE ON THE HUNT for a great therapist (OT or physio) to join the Motum team! If you know of someone who might be a good fit (in terms of both skill and personality) feel free to share this link with them https://www.seek.com.au/job/50365857

03.01.2022 WA Senator Jordon Steele-John is proving to be a powerful advocate for disability rights. We wholeheartedly support his call for more wheelchair-friendly design right across the community because, even with the current design requirements, there is still A LOT of room for improvement.

01.01.2022 And that's a wrap for 2017! Merry Christmas from Team Motum!

01.01.2022 DO YOU KNOW a great therapist looking for a change of scene? Let them know we're on the hunt for a new team member! Applications close this coming Monday (26 Feb).
