12.01.2022 The Bureau has confirmed that a La Niña has formed in the tropical Pacific, with climate models suggesting it's likely to remain until at least the end of 2020. So when was the last big La Nina? The last fully-fledged La Nina event was from mid-2010 to early 2012. During this time Mount Isa received many severe storms and even the ruminants of cyclone Yasi. Stay tuned for some storm photos from 2012 over the next few weeks. Remember to prepare by clearing gutters, trimming back trees, removing loose items and call 132 500 for SES Assistance. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=794819368011859

06.01.2022 Its a bittersweet time for the Mount Isa SES, it has been a regular weekly thing doing Welfare Runs for the Check Points so that they can keep warm during these last few months. We have all together spent over 500 active hours assisting QPS/ADF, also with over 5000km clocked as well. We have enjoyed a weekly outings, but like others, we are happy that the check points are slowly starting to open up. We would like to thank all of our SES Members, not only here in Mount Isa, but all over Australia for your dedication in these hard times. We would also like to thank the Queensland Police, as well as the interstate Police Officers and the members of the Defence Force for helping to slow the spread of COVID-19.
