19.01.2022 The track is now open for walking (1pm to 4pm Sundays), but the Centre is still closed. Watch this space for more changes due to COVID-19.

19.01.2022 Due to COVID-19 the visitor centre building will be closed on Sundays. At this stage the highway gate will be open to give hikers access to the car park. Watch this space for updates.

16.01.2022 Explore the old rail trail from the highway to the Visitor Centre! Many thanks to a Shire environment program crew who cleared the cutting and embankment to form the trail.

09.01.2022 In a dark damp corner of the crater we have an interesting fern Anogramma leptophylla. Spotted years ago and still thriving.

06.01.2022 Well done Liam! Liam Harper has completed 20 hours working at Mount Elephant for his Duke of Edinborough program. Liam worked with committee members Lesley Brown and Kim McCarthy to scope out and map and new walking track around the base of Mount Elephant. He planted trees, re-marked of our car park area and replaced old fences and gates. Great work!
