22.01.2022 Hi everyone As most of you would have noticed the website, www.mountaingateacademy.com has collapsed again and so we will be shutting this website down as soon as we can manage it. We were planning to do this and make other arrangements for distance learning students and class members but this has forced our hand by a few weeks. For current students (both class and distance) please note that it will take us a couple of weeks to have our open content available and for our memb...er-only content please contact Shifu and content can be emailed to you directly. 06.01.2022 MGA Launceston Grading tomorrow! Promises to be very exciting tomorrow with 5 in the Black Sash grading and students right across the grades. Remember that gradings will be earlier than usual to allow for a workshop at the end. Please check with Lao Shi Mike if you are not sure when you need to be there.

02.01.2022 Just a reminder to the MGA Black Sashes that you need to book in by this Friday if you wish to attend the Chan Wu Yi workshop. If you are not sure if you are eligible then you should clarify this with Shi Xiong Michael at tonight's class or email Shifu before the Friday deadline.

02.01.2022 Outline of Chan Wu Yi Workshop Those of you who have been regularly training will have heard Shi Xiong mention the upcoming Chan Wu Yi Workshop over the weekend of the 16th of April. So what will we be covering? We will be introducing the more advanced metaphysical aspects of the practice of Gong Fu, Qi Gong, Eastern philosophy, Meditation, personal development and energetic healing.... Chan Wu Yi is the integration of Spiritual, Martial and Healing practices and is considered the foundation of genuine Shaolin Gong fu practice. The workshop will be intense and so has minimum requirements for participation. There will be theory taught but this is a practical workshop. If you wish to attend then you will need to meet the following requirements: 1. MGA Black Sash this is required to have the martial arts knowledge and experience to adequately comprehend the Martial components of the instruction. 2. Competent in Ba Duan Jin Qi Gong and Shi Ba Shi Qi Gong this will have prepared the meridians for the more advanced Qi Gong practices to be covered. 3. It is preferred (but not compulsory) that you have been working Zhan Zhuang standing Qi Gong to develop the accessible levels of usable Qi. 4. You have been in class training in 2016 if your skills are rusty then this will be too intense for you. 5. It is also important that you feel (in your gut) that studying the more advanced philosophical, meditative, metaphysical and healing aspects of the art are really the next step for you. This aspect of study is not for everyone and please don’t feel that it is something that you should practice because if you only have an intellectual interest then the instruction will be overwhelming and will probably be detrimental to your practice and enjoyment of Gong Fu. If you wish to attend but are not sure of your eligibility then please discuss further with Shi Xiong Michael and note that 1, 2 and 5 are mandatory. Eligible students please email Shifu at [email protected] for a more detailed outline of the workshop and note that bookings close 1/4/16 (yes that’s Friday next week).
