23.01.2022 Finding the perfect Valentine’s gift can be difficult, and with Valentine’s Day fast approaching you may be tempted to go for the ‘safe’ option of flowers. Pres...ent your loved one with a beautiful bouquet and they’re sure to be impressed, right? Not if they own a cat and you’ve chosen lilies This Valentine’s Day leave out lilies if your loved one has a cat as they can prove fatal. Each year many cats are poisoned by lilies, simply because people are unaware of the risks. Lilies contain a toxin that makes eating even the smallest amount of any part of the plant flowers, leaves, stem or pollen extremely dangerous to cats. Even licking the pollen off their coat or drinking the water from a vase containing lilies can cause grave illness. Once ingested, the toxin causes severe damage to the kidneys, which can cause the kidneys to fail and even result in death. Signs of lily poisoning include: - Drooling - Vomiting - Refusing food - Lethargy - Depression **If you suspect your cat has been exposed to lilies contact your vet immediately** If you own a cat, you should never keep lilies in the house, nor should you gift cat lovers in your life lilies. Check bouquets for lilies and give the bouquet to a cat less friend if you find any. 08.01.2022 HEALTH ALERT CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) We have put additional protocols in place to protect the public and our staff in light of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Please abide by the following: ... ALL CLIENTS MUST SANITISE THEIR HANDS UPON ENTRY located at reception desk. ONLY ONE PERSON IS PERMITTED INTO THE CLINIC WITH THEIR PET. The only exception to this is a dependent child with no one else to wait outside with. Ideally clients would pre-arrange care to be able to attend by themselves. ALL CLIENTS MUST REMAIN 1.5 METERS AWAY FROM EACH OTHER AND STAFF. Please use masking tape on the floor as guidelines. A MAXIMUM OF ONLY 5 CLIENTS ARE PERMITTED IN OUR WAITING ROOM AT ANY TIME. In line with 4 square metre separation guidelines. We will ask clients to wait outside when necessary and the limit is reached. ANY CLIENT REQUIRING MEDICATION MUST CALL TO PRE ORDER. Then when you come to collect, ring us from out the front so we can process payment over the phone or at the car to minimise foot traffic in the waiting room. PETS BEING PICKED UP FROM SURGERY: Owners must call to discuss discharge instructions. We can take payment over the phone or at the car and then your pet will be brought to the car. Thanks for your help at this difficult time

06.01.2022 This is a UK story but it highlights the potential issues with feeding raw food to your pets

05.01.2022 So this is kind of awkward/unusual...

04.01.2022 We've been wondering about our status as the different stages of lock-down occur. This just in: "Veterinarians are classified as essential services and will be able to cross state borders and continue working under shutdowns currently in operation in Australia, the agriculture minister David Littleproud has said."

03.01.2022 Client advice: There are no restrictions on clients attending veterinary clinics - even if the vet clinic is not within the 5km radius of their home. Seeking veterinary care is considered "health and care"

02.01.2022 This just in from the council (Knox)
