24.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads, Step Dads, and father figures/mentors out there! We hope youre enjoying the beautiful sunshine! We have an important update after Dan Andrews announcements today, detailing what the Regional VIC Roadmap to Recovery will potentially look like and how it applies to us as a gym. Please see below for an idea of what it might look like (though not 100% guaranteed, as 2020 has so proven to us! ): Regional VIC Step 2: As of 14th Septembe...r, 2020, Mountain Gym will still remain closed under the current Stage 3 restrictions in place. Regional VIC Step 3: TBC. We will be awaiting a further announcement to support an official opening date, however, theres potential possibility of re-opening on 28th September, 2020, though heavy restrictions will apply for gyms. We arent currently aware of what these restrictions will involve, so once we receive further official information, we can then update you all on whether it will be viable to open or not. Regional VIC Step 4: TBC, possibly October 26, 2020. Gyms will be open with restrictions, though not as heavy. This may look like the restrictions and protocols we had prior to our second closure. I.e. 15 members max in the gym at one time, 10 class participants per class at one time, booking system, social distancing, good hygiene, disinfection protocols, COVID screening etc. With all this taken into consideration, we sadly cant confirm an exact re-opening date yet, we can only base it off the little information we have from the government. We will update everyone as we receive new information, but at current, we will be looking at re-opening in 3 - 7 weeks A big thank you to all those who have expressed their ongoing support, and their positive eagerness to return once we are re-open and back into the swing of things. 24.01.2022 Hey everyone! Just a reminder that Em & Lee will be away tomorrow through to Monday. The gym hours during this period of time will be: Friday 6th Nov: 4pm - 7pm... Saturday 7th Nov: CLOSED Monday 9th Nov: 4pm - 7pm. Tuesday will return to normal hours: 7am - 12pm, 4pm - 7pm. Closed Friday, Saturday and Monday morning. Say hi to Mitch as he'll be looking after the gym while we are away! Tomorrow morning's 6am class is still on! Monday morning's class 9th Nov is cancelled. 24.01.2022 I've received a further update from my massage association, Australian Association of Massage Therapists, on providing Remedial Massage Therapy during this lockdown period and, unfortunately this time around, we are not permitted to provide massage treatments. All clients will be contacted personally regarding this new information and appointments will be re-scheduled. Thanks for your understanding
24.01.2022 Important update As announced by the Victorian Premier today, unfortunately stage 3 restrictions for Victoria includes that gyms must re-close as of midnight Wednesday 5th August, which means Mountain Gym will be sadly closing the doors for yet another lockdown. Monday and Wednesday classes will run as normal, as will PT sessions and any booked massage treatments. Anything beyond this will be cancelled, and those with future personal training sessions & massage appoint...ments will be notified. Remedial Massage clients must wear their own mask to their appointment. Mask wearing during massage treatments had already been implemented as of July 19, when it was declared a mandatory rule for all health practitioners and clients to wear a mask during treatments, but now it extends to wearing one for the full duration of any interaction, from entry to exit. Please find details on mask wearing in the gym, below. We have appreciated everyones support and co-operation over the last five weeks of being re-open, and have loved having you all back in the gym and massage room! We hope that we will see you all over the next three days, and can share some final good spirit, awesome lifting tunes & some deep belly laughs, and see you when we return again Thanks everyone! Class schedule has now been updated to reflect two evening classes going ahead with one on Mondays (Bands, Bells & Bodyweight) and one on Thursdays (Strength and Conditioning) @ 7pm, kicking off on Monday 16th November. - Limit of 10 people for evening indoor classes - bookings required in advance. If you're not booked in, you won't have a guaranteed spot in the class. All classes run for 45 minutes.... Cost is currently $15 per class. If you have a gym membership, cost will be $10.00 per class. Payable by cash or Eftpos on the day. Please bring a towel & water bottle, and a mask for arriving at the gym and exiting the gym. You are not required to wear a mask during physical exertion. Please notify us with plenty of notice (at least 24 hours) if you cannot attend your booked class, so that we can fill your spot. This virus doesnt discriminate, and is so easily spread, so its important we all be vigilant and do what we can to ensure not only our own personal health & safety, but the safety of everyone around us, including those who are immuno-compromised, in a higher risk c...ategory due to age or pre-existing conditions, those who care for at risk people, the list goes on. - We are being strict with our policies and procedures here at Mountain Gym as we want to maintain a high standard of infection control for the sake of everyone (and so we can stay open for you all!), and we truly appreciate everyones co-operation and support during these uncertain times so far - Please remember, its important to: Wash your hands with soap and water regularly Get a COVID test if you are showing ANY signs or symptoms (and stay home while you wait for results) Be honest about where youve been in the last 14 days, and who youve been in contact with, to determine if you need to re-book your appointment for another time, or if you need to have two weeks off from the gym. 21.01.2022 Hey everyone With the announcement of Regional VIC potentially jumping two steps on the Roadmap to Recovery, and allowing certain businesses to either re-open or ease some of the restrictions currently surrounding their ability to remain open, Id like to inform everyone that until we hear an official announcement this week to confirm that this is definitely occurring, along with further information on what heavy restrictions gyms in Regional VIC will have to comply with ...pending the opportunity to re-open, we cannot provide you with an exact date of re-opening at this stage. Wed love to give you further insight, but we rely on the government announcements as they happen in real time. Unfortunately, we dont receive any inside information ahead of time, or get notified on what it means for us as a gym; we have to find out this information for ourselves when it becomes available, and then we will announce it to everyone. Were just as eager as everyone else to return to our gym and have people fill the space again and get back into to their training, so we will make sure we keep you posted once we know more confirmed black-and-white information, and can then make an informed decision on our next steps. So, its 6 days into lockdown and were missing you all, already! - Many of you have borrowed equipment to keep the ball rolling while were closed, so were going to continue to help from a distance by providing more free videos on our page for training ideas at home. These will include bodyweight exercise ideas (for those who dont have equipment), weight training with minimal equipment ideas, and will be a way to help motivate you to get up, get ...outside and put whatever equipment you have (it might just be your own body, which is THE BEST piece of equipment you could have!) to good use during this lockdown 2.0. - Lee and Emily will not be providing any PT face to face sessions during this lockdown for many valid reasons, so bringing fresh training videos + being available for any questions/fitness help/direction, sharing our equipment, along with the programs many of you have been provided with for ongoing direction and guidance, is how we can continue to help you instead. *Please note, all equipment has now been borrowed out. - Remedial Massage has been classified as allowed in Regional VIC, with the added PPE requirement of safety glasses. 19.01.2022 Class Update There are still four spots left for tomorrows Wednesday 6am class - any last bookings? Cutting bookings off at 7pm! - What to know for your class tomorrow: ... Please sanitise hands before entering the gym. Please bring a LARGE towel, one that is big enough to lay underneath you and provide a barrier between you and the ground when laying down and/or stretching, or when using any equipment that may require a towel. Please do not forget your towel! The same rule applies as in the gym - no towel, no class. Please bring your own water bottle, and remember to take it home with you when you leave. When you arrive, please sign a COVID waiver form if you have not already previously done so. Please sign your name, phone number and date in our book, every class. Please grab a microfibre cloth from the white cube in the entrance to the gym. Disinfectant is provided in the main gym area. These cloths will go into the pedal bin at the end of the class, located in front of the reception desk. You will be required to wipe down every piece of equipment after use, before others touch it. The one touch policy is to be respected, so as to ensure we minimise the spread of germs between participants. Please dont bring a friend if theyre not booked in. We have a strict restriction limit of 10 participants only during the class, and require everyone to book. Please adhere to social distancing guidelines. We will structure the class to allow for these considerations, along with more time for cleaning between using equipment etc. If youre unwell, or have developed symptoms resembling a cold/flu/COVID-19, or any kind of illness overall, please STAY HOME. Were still waiting on a couple of things to co-ordinate with the new online booking/billing system, so it wont be ready for next weeks classes. However, we know theres alot of excited people keen to get back to classes, so, in the interim, this is the plan stan:... Wednesday 8th July 6am Strength and Conditioning, Friday 10th July 6am Strength and Conditioning and Saturday 11th July 7am Strength and Conditioning classes will run next week, and we will run these at the pre-price rise cost of $10 per person, per class, payable after your class via Eftpos, Cash, or Bank Transfer (can provide bank details upon request). The other classes will commence from 13/7, and Ill put up a description of the classes on Monday Bookings to be made directly to Lee or Emily via this Facebook page, or by messaging Emily on 0417 530 039. Class bookings will close off at 7pm the night before each class, and cancellations must be made by this time also. Be quick, as theres only 10 spots available for each class! First in best dressed We will update you with how many spots left/if a class is booked out, via this page Out of consideration to everyone who wants to book in for a spot in the class, if you book, please show up. 14.01.2022 Hey everyone! Here are the main details for our re-opening on Monday 22nd June! 1. Mountain Gym opening hours will be 7am - 12pm, 4pm - 7pm Monday to Friday, and 8am - 12pm on Saturday. Closed Sunday as normal. The extra hour on these days will allow us time to do a more intense deep clean to maintain high hygiene and cleanliness standards, due to the amount of foot traffic we receive. ... - 2. Open Gym and Remedial Massage services will recommence Monday 22nd June. The open gym can allow 15 people max. at one time. There will be a time limit of 75mins for training sessions within the open gym, to allow a fair system for everyone (no booking required at this stage). Group fitness classes are expected to recommence the week of the 29th June, provided all goes to plan. There is a maximum of 10 participants allowed, and we will implement a booking system to control these class numbers. We will upload the class timetable soon, and further details will also be released soon regarding booking. - 3. As we have not had a price increase since the official opening of taking over Mountain Gym in 2017, there will be a price increase implemented for all services offered as of Monday June 29th 2020. We will post these in a seperate post mid next week to update everyone, and they will be displayed clearly in the gym. - 4. All PT and massage clients are currently being contacted to organise sessions or appointments, so if youve not been contacted yet, we arent far off and well be in touch very soon! - 5. We have some updates regarding classes, our price increases and some dates for you all! ... - The first major update is: we are currently working hard on organising an effective and easy booking and payment system for group fitness classes, however, have hit a technological roadblock that will take another week for us to get on top of. We aim to have this accomplished by end of next week, in time for bookings for the following week, which means we will have to push classes back, now re-commencing on Monday 6th July, 2020. We know how many excited participants are waiting eagerly for their return, and we apologise for the inconvenience, but please know we are trying to do our very best to get classes back up and running as smoothly as possible, in line with the tight number restrictions placed upon us! - As you can see below, the price increase for PT and Remedial Massage Therapy will be in place as of Monday 29/6/2020. 07.01.2022 Sorry folks, have to take a five day hiatus according to the Victorian Government! Please note we will be closed from tomorrow Saturday 13th February, and will re-open on Thursday 18th February from 7am as normal (provided there are no extensions to the five day lockdown, in which case, we will notify you if there are). There will be no 6:15am classes on Monday or Wednesday, or any PT sessions on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Emily is still awaiting further confi...rmation regarding Remedial Massage services being considered an essential service like last lockdown and whether appointments can proceed, and will contact her clients personally to update them as she receives information. We are currently only allowing casual visits to local residents of Mount Beauty and the surrounding townships ($15 for a casual visit for those curious on cost), provided you: Have not been to Melbourne in the last 14 days Have not travelled from another major city or different state, and if so, have been here for 14+ days. Have not been in contact with any COVID-19 positive cases Are currently feeling well, free from any signs or symptoms of illness Are honest with the above requirements, and use your positive initiative and understanding during this time. 04.01.2022 ACTIONS speak louder than words....... Life is already hard for most but life is even harder when your born with a disability. This is Brad, he was born with Cerebral palsy which is a neurological disorder, Moving, strength, power and spacial awareness was sub par compared to the average person but more importantly confidence and mental state.... The first thing I wanted to do was to give Brad confidence, that he could do anything and that he can be strong as anyone else in the gym or outside. Years of struggle and having people telling you " you can't do that because you have this" is just F@$king bulls$%t!!!!!! The very fist session i had with Brad was in January 2018 and i told him you are going to do the Spartan obstacle race in Bright. This was a goal, a purpose, a personal development where mobility, strength, power and awareness all needed to be achieved. And we did, Brad completed the 7km spartan race in 2018. More importantly he knows he is stronger and more confident not only to tackle the tough training sessions but to take on the challenges in life.

01.01.2022 Progress comes not from standing still, but from consistently pushing yourself safely, and effectively, over a period of time. - In this vid from a few weeks ago, Lee is pulling a 170kg block pull after approx. 5 months of no heavy lifting due to a back injury that wouldn't allow him to perform any heavy lifts. - During lockdown one and two, he focused on more bodyweight movements and hit up Big Hill on his mountain bike, then about six weeks ago he started to move back t...o the barbell and gradually progress his lifts again - Injury might feel like two steps forward and one step back, but by listening to your body and working with other available options to keep moving, or to maintain strength and fitness, you can still move forward! - *Note: some injuries may require a visit to your local GP and/or physiotherapist before commencing a revised program, to ensure maximum safety and effective rehabilitation, and understanding your injury + the nature of it, to allow full body awareness and further knowledge on how to manage it going forward. In this case, Lee had prior knowledge on this kind of minor injury and knew how to approach his training and recovery confidently, while listening to his body. See more
