20.01.2022 Come down to Wilgro this weekend and get yourself some tasty apples, delicious cider or some of our other local goodies ! Open from 10am - 5pm, Friday to Monday

20.01.2022 Before and after bottling. Bring on more bittersweet.

19.01.2022 Less than a month until hazelnut harvest commences. The nuts are starting to fall especially the early variety, Butler. On the weekend we ran through a couple o...f the blocks with the machine to clean up blanks (these normally fall early) and any nuts the birds had knocked off. It was like a pre- harvest cleanup. There are still definitely some good ones in what was harvested. We are really hoping the grass stops growing too or it will make harvesting from the ground that much harder. From dawn to dusk the Cockatoos are still trying to get a free feed but hoping this will ease as apples on neighbouring farms are picked, nets are lifted and birds can feast on fallen fruit. Bonus today was Laura from Nest-Cinema-Cafe in Tumbarumba calling in with afternoon tea. Straight from the bag during cockatoo patrol See more

Thanks to our local buddies at Happy Wombat Hazelnuts for providing the nutty package. You can also find their hazelnuts in our Baby Brown. Mr July is still available in cans and on tap! 18.01.2022 Shout out to Gould’s Nursery in Batlow. For many years now we have been buying plants from Jamie. Our entire Grevillea hedge and all our blueberry plants were b...ought through the nursery. The results speak for themselves as you can see in the photos. Bees and birds (like honeyeaters, spinebills and wrens) thrive in the hedges. Our recent purchase of blueberry plants is for a friend so she stops eating ours #batlow #grevillea #royalgrevillea #blueberryplants #supportlocal #buyfromthebush #windbreak #snowyvalleys See more

14.01.2022 Rain showers are disrupting our hazelnut harvest today but we are underway! It’s always a fiddly start because the early variety that falls first (and pollinato...r variety), ‘Butler’ is harvested separately. We’ll be harvesting for several weeks which includes grading and bedding up all varieties for drying. We thank all customers for their patience waiting for this seasons crop to hit the shelves. At this stage we are aiming for raw and roasted kernel to be available from June. For customers who prefer the taste of freshly harvested nuts we plan to have in-shell (uncracked) hazelnuts stocked at Wilgro Orchards for Easter.

08.01.2022 Not everyday you see a full size coach driving in your paddock A great day was had by all @insightstours guests yesterday started the day in our area by visi...ting the Tumut Broom Factory to experience the art in making a great broom. Next visit is up the hill to Batlow with a stop into Wilgro Orchards to pick up a bag of those famous fresh apples and maybe a bit of cider for later! After they loaded up it was over to us for lunch supplied by @munday's_catering while admiring the views. After lunch the group viewed a euco boil in progress while enhancing their sense of smell with the pure fresh bush aroma floating through the air. A tour around the 'farm shed shop' with a product 'how to use and 'where to use it' chat followed by 'any questions. Visitors helped them selves to a cupper or cool refreshment while roaming around the garden rebuild, admired more of the views and did a bit of product retail therapy which is always welcomed. Boarding the coach again and leaving the same way as they came in, the scenic route 'paddock' then off to Tumbarumba to visit The Pioneer Women's Hut out at Glenroy Heritage Reserve. A great day with amazing people and we do hope that you all enjoyed your time in our area. @visitsnowyvalleys Would like to visit us, give us a call or web site enquiry https://yesteryearplantations.com.au/contact #visitriverina #visitnsw #Batlow #visitwithus #experience #destinationnsw #holidayherethisyear #comefindus #actraction #coach #tourismaustralia #eucalyptus #eucalyptusoildistillery #homecleaningproducts #naturaloil #australia #australianowned #familybusiness #smallbusiness #bushfirerecovery #australianmade

05.01.2022 Since May last year we have been working on a new project for the farm and no time like the present to fill you in. We have started a small bush food garden to ...replace our 20 year old lavender patch that had run it’s course. We are hedging our bets with this new project. If the bush food side of things doesn’t work out, we will harvest the seed for our own use or sell. Selling the seed as is or propagating seedlings for other local conservation projects. The idea had been simmering for years on the back of Bindi’s years of work with Greening Australia and Landcare but kicked into gear recently after the bushfire and speaking with local foodies who we supply hazelnuts and berries to. One of the beds will be a general mix of local ground loving plants starting with Chocolate Lily, two Native Mint species, Murnong (Yam Daisy), Twining Glycine, two Native Violet species and some grasses. Another bed is planted with the climber Apple Berry. Plants rescued prior to heavy machinery moving in to clear burnt vegetation after the bushfire. There are two beds that look like onions but are Bulbine Lily or Native Leek- the tuberous roots are roasted and delicious! The other beds are ready for Murnong which, are gaining popularity for their small edible tubers. We have the seed, just need to propagate it and plant. There is an option for more planter beds and edible species, but we will pace ourselves and see how the project unfolds. Our farm is located within Snowy Valleys Council where local indigenous communities are acknowledged as Wiradjuri, Wolgalu and Ngarigo - Toomaroombah Kunama Namadgi. #bushfood #snowyvalleys #farmdiversification #trysomethingnew
