19.01.2022 Nepal, the Himalayan wonder land and an amphitheater for adventure enthusiasts, once again achieved a double digit boom of tourist arrivals in the year 2017. The growth is around 29% compared to last year 2016. The total number of tourist arrival has reached 940,218 in 2017 from 753,002 in 2016. The country has slightly missed its target to welcome 1 million tourists in 2017. Tourist arrival in Nepal has dip down to 554,000 only in the fiscal year of 2015 due to the devastati...ng earthquake on 25 April 2015. There is remarkable growth on arrivals from 2016 as travellers around the world became reassured and felt safe to travel to Nepal once again after the earthquake. The government of Nepal has set its goal to welcome 2 million tourists by 2020. Though the target seems ambitious it is achievable in partnership with the government and private sector joint effort. The infrastructure for tourism and exploration and diversification of tourism activities is taking place to achieve the nation’s target by 2020. The tourist boom is expected to continue its increase in 2018 with more than 30%. The tourists arrival from United States and United Kingdom has reach its record breaking point of around 50% with 79,146 from USA and 51,058 from UK in 2017 in compare to 46,295 from USA and 25,769 from UK in 2016. USA and UK stands at 3rd and 4th position of tourist arrivals in Nepal where India and China hold 1st and 2nd position respectively. Remarkable growth is being seen on adventure trekking and climbing activities in the year 2017. Now, lets make a New Year 2018 resolution to support Responsible trekking of 1 trekker:1 porter while making the plan to go on a Nepal adventure. Mountain Monarch Australia and New Zealand is committed to running trekking and climbing trip in the Himalayas in the most responsible and safe fashion possible. 19.01.2022 More from the Gokyo Trek to Everest by Hugh Maclean. This time over Cho La. Great read! https://bughouse23.com/2017/10/13/day-10-cho-la-pass/

16.01.2022 Lets be Responsible in trekking in Nepal & support the 1 Trekker: 1 Porter policy for the positive impact of Tourism for the local people at large. We motivate every trekker and climber planning an adventure in the Himalayas. Ask the tour operator to have a dedicated porter for each trekker. This means the porter will carry less and have a better chance at having a longer work life. It also creates more jobs. Your visit becomes a meaningful trip and leaves a positive impact on the lives of local communities.

01.01.2022 Our Annapurna Base Camp- via Poon Hill trek with Mountain Monarch (booked through No Roads Expeditions in Australia) truly exceeded our expectations. The pre-trip organisation and information from No Roads was fabulous and from the moment we were picked up at Kathmandu Airport until we were safely delivered back there, we were expertly catered for. In Kathmandu, a first-rate welcome dinner and an in-depth cultural tour were included. Prior to leaving for Pokhara, our guide, ...Subash, gave us a thorough rundown of all aspects of the trek, expectations, answered all our questions and gave great advice. Once on the trek, every question was answered with patience and good humour. Local cultural and historical knowledge provided a significant dimension to our understanding of this phenomenal nation and its people. The tea-houses were more than adequate after a big day’s trekking and the food was wholesome and satisfying. We met no other group who started the day with ‘wake-up tea’ (delivered to rooms by Santa, our assistant guide!) The Mountain Monarch staff were exemplary the attention to detail, local knowledge and enthusiasm was priceless in relation to all aspects of our trek and the optional tours organised for us. Recommendation: staying and having the full day at the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), rather than a flying visit up from the Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC), like most other tour groups for sunrise, was such a plus. Pradip, Subash, Santa, Ramesh and Jai take a bow you have done not only Mountain Monarch well, but you all are fantastic ambassadors for your wonderful country. We will return!
