25.01.2022 Great news 15 hrs per week of FREE PRESCHOOL FOR 2021! NSW Minister Mitchell has announced an extension of Free Preschool for 2021. CCSA applauds the State Governments initiative and commitment in supporting children across NSW with $120m of funding for a year of FREE Preschool. The funding will be made available to all Community and Mobile Preschools in NSW. ... CCSA advocates tirelessly on behalf of our Members and the early childhood sector and we are thrilled with this commitment by NSW State Government. The extension of the existing Fee Free program will no doubt support families and children. CCSA is thrilled with this commitment by NSW State Government and we will continue to support our Members as we continue to move forward.

19.01.2022 MABO DAY On June 3, 1992, the High Court overturned the legal concept of ‘terra nullius’ which presumed that Australia belonged to no-one before Invasion a...nd therefore stripped Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of their traditional rights to their lands and attempted to sever connections to cultures dating back 65,000 years. About Eddie Mabo: Eddie Koiki Sambo was born on June 29, 1936 on the Torres Strait island of Mer (also known as Murray Island). His mother died during childbirth and he was raised by his mother's brother, Benny Mabo, whose surname he adopted. Mabo settled in the Queensland city of Townsville in 1959 with his wife, Bonita. He was an activist for the Torres Strait Islander community and co-founded with Bonita, one of Australia's first black community schools. In 1974, while working as a gardener at James Cook University, Mabo learned that his island, Mer was Crown land owned by the Australian government and not by the Meriam people! Mabo gave a speech about Mer's land inheritance system at a Land Rights Conference in 1981, and a lawyer in the audience suggested there should be a test case to claim land rights in court. A year later, Mabo and four other Meriam people, Celuia Mapo Salee, James Rice, David Passi and Sam Passi took their legal claim for ownership of the lands of Mer to the High Court.and won!

05.01.2022 Term 2 Week 5 2021 Hi all. Well we had our Assessment and Rating by the Regulatory Authority this week. This gave us the opportunity to display our awesome practices on Quality assurance and our new National Quality Standards rating will be released in 3- 4 weeks. I would like to thank all of our families, children, and staffing team for your commitment to our beautiful Preschool, and especially thank our Management Committee for your volunteer governance; you are vital for o...ur Community Preschool to stay in operation. Thanks so much all. Xxx If you consider how children learn when looking through Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory, the child is in the centre with family, environments, people, community and culture influencing the child as the child influences them. Law and regulations also contribute to ensuring children’s learning occurs, and also ensures that children have their rights upheld; including the right to play (Article 31, United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child). https://www.ccyp.wa.gov.au//poster-united-nations-january- Thanks all and see you next week for some learning through fun and play and with consideration to National Sorry day and Reconciliation Week.
