25.01.2022 Only 2 weeks to the MRC, will prepare the message relay path soon and allocate MRC station numbers.

24.01.2022 If you haven't already, now's definitely the time to join your MRC teammates on the MRC2020 Zello channel. The Zello PTT app has proved itself year after year as a valuable comms tool for the MRC. Not for actually relaying the official message, but for coordinating station operations, communicating plans, issuing safety alerts and discussing technical issues and other practical matters with the organisers and other stations. This year text messages have been enabled on the ch...annel, allowing general station status messages, and spots to be posted. You can find Zello on your device's app store. Once installed, use the channel find feature, and search for MRC2020. It would be useful for other operators if you set your screen name to your MRC station callsign for the duration of the event. Find your callsign at https://mountainradiochallenge.weebly.com/mrc-2020.html

22.01.2022 Its now only 4 weeks to MRC (Mountain Radio Challenge) on Nov 30th. We have a big team this year with 18 stations involved, including 3 groups in Tasmania, to our northern most group at Mt Kaputar in Norther NSW. I will allocate MRC station numbers over the next couple of weeks, which will indicate the message path. I wil also create a printable map, and a summary sheet listing station locations, calling times & channels. There are many groups camping at their hill on the ...Friday night, i would expect alot of MRC traffic over the weekend, as well as the official message relay starting at 12 midday on Saturday. The MRC2019 Zello channel is seeing more traffic, and is a great place to ask questions from previous participants or swap ideas and methods. The Google Earth link on the website also shows profiles between groups. Please call out to if you have any questions. www.mrc.cat.net.au See more

18.01.2022 MRC station numbers have been assigned, as per the list on the website. Note this year we have MRC Central who will help co-ordinate between the three "branches" of the group. A simplified map will hopefully be posted tomorrow tonight to show the locations and links between these stations. Please reply with any questions, especially those who have not participated in an MRC before.

18.01.2022 MRC question message will travel from MRC1 to MRC7 (MRC Central), who will pass it to both MRC8 & MRC13 who will pass it to their next stations, and so on. An answer message will be relayed by the end stations, when they receive the question, back down the chain to MRC7 (MRC Central) who will send it to MRC6 and so on.

15.01.2022 Hello All. MRC is 4 months away, and we have several interested groups, strengthening on our links established in recent years. MRC is still going strong, and entering our fourth decade. There has been a resurgence of 27MHz during COVID19, so if you know anyone who might be interested in MRC 2020, please encourage them to get involved. ... Our plans of course are dependent on the COVID19 situation and any restrictions. I welcome all new facebook group members and hope many of you will become involved this year. We have a few New Zealand people interested, and will be looking at ways to link across the Tasman Sea. Please let me know your location preferences so we can discuss and start to develop the groups and message path for MRC 2020. The MRC website is at www.mrc.cat.net.au. -- Tony 355.

14.01.2022 An updated Map & Summary Sheet, MRC Procedures and Mountain Report form have been posted to the MRC web page. Please print these documents to take with you. Note that I have been notified of some stations that may not be able to participate for fire, vehicle, and health issues. These details will be updated on the day, and advised via the MRC call channels and the Zello app. For those of you with fire hazards please be careful and don't take any risks, and those us with heavy rain / snow predictions over the weekend take plenty of warm clothes. https://mountainradiochallenge.weebly.com/mrc-2019.html

13.01.2022 Looks like COVID restrictions will no longer be an impact to the MRC. Victorias are now allowed to travel freely within the state, but still restrictions between NSW & Vic. You can go on a holiday anywhere within Victoria. You can book accommodation, camp and visit your holiday home within Victoria. https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/covid19-restriction-c//vic I believe that from 12:01am 23 November 2020, NSW will reopen its border with Victoria

13.01.2022 MRC 2020 is now 2 months away (Nov 28th). With COVID restrictions permitting, it will be a good year again. The website has been updated with a list of current stations and a Google Earth map link. The MRC is always open to new stations, and we've had a few new followers since last year - likely a lot of old CBers have returned to the hobby during the lockdown. We're keen to have new people involved so please let us know if you are interested and have any questions.... http://www.mrc.cat.net.au/

13.01.2022 Here's the proposed Mountain Radio Challenge 2020 Message path. Find out more at www.mrc.cat.net.au

12.01.2022 This time next week the MRC will be at full activity, with messages being relayed around the country. This year we will relay both parts at the same time, starting at 12 midday.

12.01.2022 Map and summary sheet have been update with station changes at https://mountainradiochallenge.weebly.com/mrc-2020.html

10.01.2022 Thanks Owen Pitchford for quickly offering to participate in the MRC at Mt Barrow, unfortunately Rick has had to withdraw, Owen is keen to be involved in his first MRC.

08.01.2022 It looks like we're in for a wet MRC this November. If not the day itself then the state of the tracks leading to our mountains. What extra measures do you take when it's looking like being a wet radio expedition?

07.01.2022 The MRC station list has been updated and we're now at 24 sations, I had not listed Thomas at Gulgong. Sorry Thomas, and thanks for picking that up. The Summary sheet has also been updated, will update Google Earth map and message path now. Printable map still to come.

05.01.2022 The weather forecasts for tomorrow's Mountain Radio Challenge suggest increasing windy conditions. For some of the stations there is also a chance of storm activity in the afternoon. So this is a good time to mention the lightning tracker website http://lightningmaps.org *If you see lightning approaching and getting within 30km of your station then it's time to go off air and isolate or set down the antenna. Let other stations know your status via the Zello channel.*

01.01.2022 Have added South Gippsland and Northern TAS to the MRC list and map, and looking for another TAS station or two. Updates at http://www.mrc.cat.net.au/
