23.01.2022 Paralysis tick season is well and truely here. These ticks were pulled off three different patients in two days here at the clinic, all three were hospitalised ...and treated for tick paralysis. Unfortunately we have already had to treat 10 cases since July this year, already one away from our entire financial year last year!! It is very important to keep all of your pets up to date with their flea & tick prevention. Here we like to use Bravecto for both cats and dogs. Please call us on 4751 1888 to discuss options suitable for your pet.

20.01.2022 19/12/2019 CURRENT HEAT/BUSHFIRE SITUATION (paraphrased notice from Kris Newton, Manager of Mountains Community Resource Network) Our current situation is defin...itely concerning. All community members are encouraged to be ready to activate our Heatwave plans today and Saturday in particular and to check in on neighbours to make sure they are OK in the heat (especially the elderly, small children, pregnant women, etc without air conditioning). Most will all be aware of the mega-blaze which is now in the Grose Valley the rugged terrain makes it almost impossible for the RFS to control this fire. The heat and NW winds of the next few days are expected to make conditions much worse. If the fire escapes the Grose Valley, current projections have it headed towards Bowen Mountain. If it cannot be contained there, the lower mountains in particular (Linden-Winmalee) are then at serious risk. We do not want residents alarmed unnecessarily, but it is important to ensure we all have an accurate picture of the situation. We also do not want 80,000 residents turning the GWH into a car-park, all evacuating at the last minute, for example. If residents head east they could be putting themselves in danger; and also blocking emergency services vehicles from doing their jobs. We ask everyone to concentrate in on spreading the all important be prepared message. - Ensure you have Fires Near Me app installed, and keep across the current situation; - If you commute to work and have children at school/home, you need to make arrangements to keep them safe & for keeping in touch; - Its time decide when you will leave in the event the fire gets out of control (leaving early is always the best option); - make just-in-case arrangements to stay off the mountains (eg overnight on Saturday), or take a mini-holiday for a day or so; - make just-in-case arrangements for pets please remind those without a car that they can take animals (suitably restrained) on the trains in an evacuation!; - Pack your Emergency Kit in the car, and/or take this off the mountain & leave with friends/family (see attached suggestions for Emergency Kit); - Ensure you have photo ID, keys, mobile (& charger), essential medications, water & credit card with them at all times.

19.01.2022 Summer is officially here! There are some scorching days ahead, so here are a few quick tips to make sure you and your pets stay as comfortable as possible while enjoying the outdoors Take walks in the cooler part of the day (early morning or late evening) and keep your furry friend on the grass if you can. Before you head out for a walk, touch the pavement with the palm of your hand for 7 seconds ~ if its too hot for your hand, its too hot for paws. ... Carry enough water for both of you. Remember to slip slop slap some pet-friendly sunscreen on their snoot too!

17.01.2022 "Im on the edge of my seat!" When teamwork makes the dream work. Have you witnessed any golden moments like this?

14.01.2022 On this Anzac Day, we don’t just remember our brave service men and women. Let’s also honour the hundreds of thousands of horses, dogs, donkeys, mules and pigeo...ns that selflessly sacrificed their own lives in battles they’ll never be able to comprehend. For example, of the 136,000 horses sent off to World War One, only one ever made it home to Australia. These animals have given so much. Not just on the battlefield but also as comfort and support for our soldiers at their most difficult times. Lest We Forget.

13.01.2022 I have literally just wet myself Lol
