Over the course of the day, some things were said that has brought on both swift debate and heated controversy. ... This article is not a response to what was taught at Equip, I was not even present. Nor is it re-posted out of a desire to make the discussion more fraught than it already is. I wrote this article two years ago, out of a frustrated desire to see Christians engage with feminism in a more meaningful way. In the weeks since the Equip conference, I have again been frustrated by how I’ve seen people engage with views that differ from their own. This is not true of everyone, but it is true of much of what I’ve seen and heard. And it is true of both ‘sides’. I pray that out of this ‘controversy’, disheartening as it is, we Christians will see an opportunity to learn how to listen better. I pray that we will strive to approach different convictions with humility and understanding. And I pray that we will do all this for the sake of our God, who created us equal in the image we bear and declared us equal in the Sonship we have inherited.
