23.01.2022 One of my favourite times of the year - pressing Mount Alexander 2014 Shiraz. Only 10 or 11 more vats to go then I will take the staff out for an end of vintage party - if I can get her out of bed.

22.01.2022 As part of the Canberra Food and Wine Expo, I am doing a session each day in the Wine Appreciation area. These are the wines we will be tasting: 2010 Pinot Noir, 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2012 Shiraz and 2009 Wellington Flat Reserve Shiraz (all of which are on sale at the event) plus 2 wines from our museum stock: the 2007 Shiraz and the 2005 Wellington Flat Reserve Shiraz. All the wines are outstanding (of course) but it is amazing how fresh and vibrant the two older wines are. Tasting in the Wine Appreciation are free so come along and join the fun.

22.01.2022 Much fun at the Picnic with the Mad Hatter in Bendigo.

21.01.2022 Wine Genius recently reviewed our 2012 Merlot: "Delightfully fresh and varietal. Plump ripe cherry, blood plum and spiced dried fruits run from the front to the back of this wine. With subtle savoury oak, sour acidity and good length. This is one of the better Merlots sampled recently. Score: 93" winegenius.com... Remember this is a very limited release and is only available at Cellar Door or from our online shop.

19.01.2022 Canberra Food and Wine Expo off and running. (Our Cellar Door and Cafe will still be open this weekend.)

15.01.2022 Snack plates available at our Cafe on weekends. Charcuterie on the left, cheese on the right. Both use mostly local produce and can be had for the princely sum of $12 each. We also have house made biscuits (the hazelnut shortbreads with chocolate hazelnut filling are to die for) and excellent coffee.

13.01.2022 We are heading to Flavour Exchange at Fed Square Thursday and Friday this week.

12.01.2022 Autumn chill in the air. Think it's time to find a cosy spot and enjoy a glass of red from the Bendigo region.

12.01.2022 Heritage Uncorked weekend coming up. This is probably the best premium wine event in regional Victoria and it is only 90 minutes from Melbourne. Grab a ticket before they run out, book a restaurant table for Friday or Saturday night and find a hotel room. You won't be disappointed.

11.01.2022 Today’s catch, smoked brisket and pulled pork - should be ready in about 3 hours.

06.01.2022 Canberra Food and Wine Expo is up and running and Sandra is in full sales mode - I can't get a word in to the customers.

06.01.2022 If Castlemaine is too far away, we will also be popping up in the foyer of 600 Bourke Street in Melbourne from 11AM to 6PM tomorrow and Friday.

05.01.2022 Vote One - Victorian Cellar Doors I love polling day - not because I love politicians but because everybody has to leave the house: so many of them end up visiting a cellar door they have been meaning to go to forever.( oh, and also because the election campaigning is over for a week or three) We are open from 11am to 5pm today and tomorrow.

02.01.2022 For those of you with a sweet tooth, Madame Butterfly is back.
