15.01.2022 Have you got any long grass or foilage around your property that needs attending to? Check out how fast a grass fire can move in this video from the NSW Rural Fire Service & CSIRO. Spring has seen a considerable increase in grass growth across the state and with the upcoming weather ( danger rating for Sunday in the Mount Lofty region) it is only a matter of time before we see more grass fires occuring. prepare your home ... https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/p/prepare-your-home-and-property/ See more

03.01.2022 Mount Barker CFS - . In what has been a very challenging year for all, it was with great honor that we received this award from Heysen Group Officer Nathan Watts. 2020 has been a dynamic year for the brigade with the addition of training a large intake of new firefighters all the while navigating the complex world of COVID and still being fully operational for the community. A very big thank you to all our volunteers for everything they do for our community and to their families for all the support they provide.

03.01.2022 Today is going to be hot and windy with storms developing late in the day. While we don't have a Total Fire Ban like other regions in the state, we do have a fire danger rating in the hills today with unfavourable conditions so be vigilant. While we are not in our official fire season yet, the threat is still very real. Take care also if you plan on travelling to the other regions with heightened warnings today. 02.01.2022 . Today is International Volunteer Day and we want to take the time to thank all volunteers who give up their time to go and help others in need. Rain, hail, shine, or fire, when they are needed they will drop whatever they are doing to go and help another person in need. We must also thank the families that stand by our volunteers and support them when they are out helping the community, they are a vital piece of the volunteer community puzzle... and we couldn't do what we do without them. Thank you to all of you for keeping us safe.

01.01.2022 An update from SA Health regarding COVID-19 and what to do during a fire. If you are in self-quarantine or self-isolation due to COVID-19, you can leave your home if you are in an emergency or your home is unsafe. You should try to get back into self-isolation as soon as you safely can. During an emergency, if you need to attend an emergency relief centre or a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge, you need to stay outside, alert emergency services (e.g. SAPOL, relief authorities at... the location etc.) and follow instructions. You must also advise emergency services that you have been forced to leave self-quarantine or self-isolation due to the emergency and that: you are a close contact of a known COVID-19 case you have recently tested positive to COVID-19 or if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or you are in self-quarantine because you have recently returned from interstate. Review your Bushfire Survival Plan and consider adding additional face masks, hand sanitiser, and antibacterial wipes to your ‘Emergency Kit’ to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19. Follow the main SA Country Fire Service page for emergency warnings and further advice.
