10.01.2022 There is a great opportunity for interested Year 11 and 12 students to become qualified swimming instructors and gain employment with the Department over the summer holidays. The Minister for Education and Training has announced that we will be funding eligible students to obtain an accredited Swim Australia Teacher (SAT) qualification and a CPR qualification. To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years of age at the start of Term 4. They are not required to have alre...ady completed a minimum level of swimming stage. As part of the course requirements, students will need to: attend a one-day face-to-face course (CPR and SAT) complete up to 30 hours of self-paced online learning participate in a supervised teaching placement with us. The training will be available across the metropolitan area and in specific regional centres. Ongoing support and mentoring will be provided to all trainees. On completion, students can then apply for swimming instructor positions across the State. Information for students and their families can be found at education.wa.edu.au/swimming. Registrations for the course close 10.00am, Monday 16 November 2020.
