23.01.2022 The Mount Barker District Concert Band will be providing music for the Mt Barker Dawn Service this year. The band has been honoured to provide music for the Dawn Service since 1994 - only missing last year due to COVID. Unfortunately, due to this year's COVID restrictions, the 2021 service is only open to RSL members and invited guests BUT the lovely people at Welcome to Mt Barker will be livestreaming the service!! Pay tribute to our fallen by either taking part in the Driveway at Dawn event or take part in the service via the livestream.

18.01.2022 Not band related but our local State member is a fan of the band so.... For those in Kavel.... You may have seen that the Electoral Commission is looking at shifting Mt Barker from Kavel to Hammond. I don't know about you but I quite like having Dan Cregan as my State representative. You may also have seen that our Mayor, Ann Ferguson isn't too pleased about the idea either - so much so that a petition will be available to sign tomorrow (Friday 11/09) in Gawler Street. If you would like to stay in Kavel, then perhaps head down to Gawler Street tomorrow.

18.01.2022 Members of Mount Barker District Concert Band and the Mount Barker Big Band have a busy day on Saturday recording the music for the Balhannah/Oakbank Community Carols. The band has been rehearsing hard for the last month and it's awesome to see it all coming together! The BalOak Carols will be streamed this year on the 19th December via this page and YouTube at 6.30pm. Invite your family and friends to jingle those bells and deck the halls in a COVID safe manner

14.01.2022 Congratulations to the show committee for the Mount Barker District Show and all of the volunteers for a fabulous day today. You all have much to be proud of and I know just how much work you have put into making today the success it was! Well done to the members of the Mount Barker District Concert Band and Mount Barker Big Band who did an outstanding job today performing between 1pm and 3pm. Awesome job all round!

13.01.2022 The members of the Mount Barker District Concert Band made a triumphant return to rehearsals last night at our new home - the Mount Barker Town Hall. It was great to see old and new faces making some awesome music together and the band looks forward to bringing music to the community again very soon. Unfortunately, I was too busy to take a photo....so that's a job for the next rehearsal!

13.01.2022 Aaaaaaand.....that's a wrap....sort of! There were some very tired muso's at the end of yesterday's recording session but they should all be very proud of what was achieved. Well done to the members of the Mount Barker Big Band and the Mount Barker District Concert Band; it was a long day but you are a fabulous group to work with. Thank you for your patience, your humour, your willingness and your musical abilities. A huge shout out to Nathan Schubert and his awesome tea...m - your efforts yesterday were much appreciated. We hope to work with you again at some stage. Thank you also to the wonderful team in Cafe 3:16 who catered for band members at lunch and a big thank you to St Michael's Lutheran Church, Hahndorf for your generosity. Looking forward to a fantastic streamed event for the Balhannah/Oakbank Community Carols on 19th December at 6.30pm. Make sure it's in your diary!!

05.01.2022 For those of you who missed it - Band President, David Fletcher, presented Adelaide Hills Toyota with a plaque to thank them for hosting the band's rehearsals for the past SEVENTEEN years! We will be forever grateful to the Gilbert families and Adelaide Hills Toyota for their generosity. The article appeared in The Mt Barker Courier on 09/09/20

04.01.2022 Many thanks to the Adelaide Hills Herald for their great article and gorgeous photos about the band and it's new home this week. We are so grateful to the Mount Barker District Council for their support and all members of the Mount Barker District Concert Band and Mount Barker Big Band love our new home! Aren't our models fabulous? Thanks to David, Tarmia, Stephen, Lucas, Eliza and Harry for giving up their time for the photo and for the wonderful skills of John Hemmings Photography. Thanks also to David Fletcher and Katy Louise for their input into the article. If you are interested in joining a wonderful group of musicians to play some great music, then get in touch!

03.01.2022 We're getting the band back together AND we have a new home! The Mount Barker District Concert Band and Mount Barker Big Band are moving back to where it all started over 25 years ago with Bob Size - the Mount Barker Town Hall! None of this would have been possible without the hard work from band President David Fletcher and the support from Mayor Ann Ferguson, Deputy Mayor Samantha Jones, Peter McGinn, Chloe Head, and many others at Mount Barker District Council. Many thanks... to the fabulous crew at Adelaide Hills Toyota for putting up with a band landing on them every Wednesday evening - your support has been amazing! So......Music returns on the 22nd of July. I can't wait to see everyone again!!
