25.01.2022 Spectacular pink paperbark. Happy New Year to all!

22.01.2022 Gardening on a sunny Winter's day (yesterday) is very satisfying! Soil is finally moist again and no Summer heat and water issues! Celery grows well here at 500 metres elevation, provided it is planted early Autumn to get a start before Winter. Nearby the self sown red giant mustard with its spectacular leaves. Other photos are borage for the bees and garlic chives bursting with seeds.

20.01.2022 Very peaceful chickens meditating(?) under the flowering cherry plums. Two araucanas with their blue tinged eggs and a Light Sussex hen on the right.

17.01.2022 Raised vegie beds erected last Spring. Very pleased with their performance; less water use than ground level beds, healthy plants and no bending! (600 mm bed height). Egg plants did very well compared with previous failed attempts over the years. Also zucchini, beetroot, cherry tomatoes and brassicas etc. The 12 mm mesh wire lets in the bees but not the birds, butterflies, rabbits etc!

17.01.2022 Keiko's new creations! A big thank you to our 2017 guests. Best wishes for Christmas and 2018.

15.01.2022 5 metre tall common lilac adjacent to timber cottage. Flowers only in the Spring and the honeyeaters are certainly celebrating. I counted about 8 Eastern Spinebills and 4 or 5 White-naped honeyeaters there a few days ago.

13.01.2022 One of my favourite plants. Exochorda Racemosa or common pearlbush. Each spring the flowers start as creamy buds very much like strings of pearls. Then eventually they all open. On cloudy or low light days it just glows!

13.01.2022 Bird list by Tom May, September 2017. Thanks Tom! https://ebird.org/australia/hotspot/L6310388

11.01.2022 It's coming!! Beaufort's 1st annual walkfest. April 6th & 7th.Great range of walks from short town walks to the popular 21 km Beeripmo walk in the Mount Cole State Forest. More information on the Beaufort Walkfest fb page. A big thankyou to all the organisers and sponsors!

04.01.2022 It's coming round again - the Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally; May 5th & 6th. http://www.lakegoldsmithsteamrally.org.au/

03.01.2022 Taken a week ago. I don't think I have ever seen the bees so keen to be on flowers. They must have been on a high from the poppies!

02.01.2022 Before shearing (two very woolly alpacas), during shearing (November - Thanks Tim the shearer), and after (Keiko's spinning into lovely white, black and grey balls)

02.01.2022 Nest building on the mountain! First image is a nest under construction in a flower pot about 20 cm from kitchen sink window. Scrubwren I think? The second nest image is of a straw hat hanging on a nail on the other side of our house. All natural and local sourced building materials!
