25.01.2022 A local customer wanted a kitchen update and decided on changing out the existing cooktop and oven. One of the hotplates were faulty and the oven in a state of non-repair. The new items look great, fitted in nicely and didn't hurt the customers pocket as they chose mid-range appliances with a good track record.

25.01.2022 4 Years for MCE ... Another extremely busy year has flashed past with jobs big and small in very different times. A massive thank you to all the families, suppliers and customers new and old for your support and keeping this business going. Without you guys this business doesn't exist!... Thanks always

25.01.2022 EVERYBODY can do their bit to help keep EVERYBODY safe! HYGIENE is the key to help slow this situation ... We can all do our bit to help :)

25.01.2022 A customer wanted to upgrade their tired, wobbling, three blade fan for something that would give better flow and look a little more modern. The fan that was chosen to do that is a Moonah 132cm with LED light which was purchased from Capalaba Beacon Lighting. Compared to the original 3 blade fan, this 4 blade fan can be run at the medium setting and produce a similar amount of flow as the 3 blade fan on high. Another nice feature is that the blades are plastic which makes keeping them clean even easier with the wipe of a wet towel.

25.01.2022 One of the nicest lights I have fitted lately are the "Norwest Large Wall Bracket in Aged Nickel". The visual impact of these lights is very pleasing and gives your house a massive lift in style. The customer wanted their old style coach lights changed out for these and the end result is fantastic.

24.01.2022 A nice upgrade in a stairwell with the existing horizontal halogen light changed out for a new vertical up/down LED light. The new light can be used inside or outside and uses significantly less power than the old light. The customer purchased this light from Beacon Lighting at Capalaba.

24.01.2022 A customer contacted me about upgrading their kitchen and dining lighting which had been playing up for some time. The best solution was to change out the existing fluorescent lighting for new LED lighting. The new LED oyster lights have a colour temp switch so you can choose between warm white, daylight and cool white. The end result lifted the whole look of the area and uses less power during operation.

23.01.2022 A customer was complaining of a faulty downlight above their sink so a full upgrade was decided on. The old lights and transformers were removed and replaced with tri-colour adjustable LED downlights. The flush fit and opaque cover gives the kitchen a new look and colour.

21.01.2022 Fans in Winter? A customer called about getting all the fans changed in their house to beat the summer rush. Not a bad idea as most places usually have winter sales on ... so the customer chose these "Airfusion Airlie" fans from Beacon Lighting at Capalaba. A budget fan that far exceeded the old ones that were fitted.

21.01.2022 A customer wanted to upgrade their outdoor lighting from Halogen to LED lighting amongst other projects. Instead of going with the standard black frame like most, we decided on a colour matched frame to suit the existing brick which was less obtrusive. Not a bad option and really suited the style of house.

19.01.2022 Not every story is a success story ... A customer complained that their outdoor lighting hadn't been working correctly for some time and wanted to know if it could be fixed ... Short Answer = NO Not sure what these are, but they have taken over what was the outdoor lighting. Mother Nature wins this round!

19.01.2022 A local customer complained of a bathroom power point not working correctly. Apart from the physical appearance showing discolouration, once the power point was removed a loose connection was discovered which had been burning away into the power point. A new power point was fitted and all burnt cabling replaced. The customer was lucky that they noticed something wasn't right and got it fixed when they did.

18.01.2022 A customer deliberated long and hard about installing pendant lights in their kitchen / dining area. They chose 2 x large high mount and 2 x small low mount black pendant lights. The install had its difficulties due to the angled ceilings and correct height adjustment but the finished product looks amazing and exactly what the customer wanted.

18.01.2022 A regular customer had some new electric outdoor blinds installed and was looking for a way to connect them up. We decided to go with a hard wired option that could be easily disconnected if required. The customer agreed the end result is very clean and doesn't stand out like a power point connection would.

18.01.2022 Not the way I wanted the first post for the year to go ... But like all things ... A little generosity might make a big difference !!! Happy 2020 everybody and let us hope this year can turn itself around :)

17.01.2022 The tenants of a rental property approached the owners about getting the exhaust fan replaced above the shower. The old fan had seen better days and apart from being painted into position all the mounting screws had rusted away which required the whole fan to be cut out of the ceiling. The cutout was cleaned up and the new fan installed much to the delight of the tenants.

16.01.2022 A bathroom renovation really adds value to a house and this renovation is no exception. I am very happy to have played a part in this one, by choosing the correct lighting, exhaust fan and wall outlets to suit the customers budget. The point lighting for the vanity is the star of the show as it gives a nice clean, cool white look to the new room. I am certain the customer will be enjoying long showers and time in front of their huge mirror.

16.01.2022 Another customer wanted to do away with the rusted "stainless steel" fan that they had in their entertaining area. They chose a Moonah 132cm in Black with an in-built warm white LED from Beacon Lighting. The fan is easy to clean, greatly improved the look and also the air flow which is perfect for the hot afternoons in Summer.

15.01.2022 OFF doesn't always mean OFF as this customer found out the other day. The double power point had failed internally and even though the customer had turned the switch off, the power point was still supplying power as you can see by the green and blue lights on the test plug. Luckily the customer wasn't losing their marbles and explained why the jug kept boiling even though it was switched off ;)

15.01.2022 2 Years for MCE ... I would like to say a big thank you to all the customers, friends and family for all the support to enable another year to pass. Thank you for everybody's patience and understanding as this year has been extremely busy with projects of all shapes and sizes.... Lets see what next year brings ...

14.01.2022 A customer wanted to update the style of their home by changing out the existing style wall switches to something a little more modern. The customer chose the Clipsal Impress Push Button range of switches. The switching is now all push button with a little blue LED fitted inside the switch to help find your way to the switches in the dark or to give indication when switched on. The customer also changed all the existing bulbs to LED to give a brighter feel to the internals of their house.

13.01.2022 A stylish option to finish off a kitchen or bathroom renovation is the Clipsal Saturn range of switches and power points. They aren't exactly cheap, but they do have a hard wearing glass finish which is available in a choice of colours like Ocean Mist (Pictured), Espresso Black and Pure White. Something a little different than the standard white ...

12.01.2022 A local customer wanted to update the look of their home and change their lighting to LED. The existing warm white globes and holders were discarded with a LED alternative sourced to fit the existing holes. The new LED's have a 5 year warranty and colour changing capability so the customer chose cool white to really brighten things up. The end result is very clean and sure to stand out at night.

12.01.2022 Happy Easter Everybody :)

11.01.2022 After a very busy start to the year, I will try to catch up on some posts of the completed jobs I have been involved in lately. A customer required some specialised lighting to show off the stained wooden deck which makes up their entertaining area. Brilliant Coolum lights & Osram Daylight bulbs were chosen to really point light the areas and bring out the natural colours of the wood.

10.01.2022 A big thanks to the team at Cetnaj Redland Bay for the new work shirts for the kids ... I am sure they will grow into them ... soon

08.01.2022 When you're on the job and the customers lovely dog wants to be your best friend ... Only to discover he has pinched your favourite screwdriver from your pocket and decides to have an early dinner snack ... All in a days work !!!

07.01.2022 Rust Hairdressing recently added another work station to their premisis at the Valley Way shops to keep up with demand. I got given the task of installing new downlights to light the area and also a pendant outlet to supply power as there are no walls to mount a power point. The finished product turned out great and now makes the area useable with minimal impact.

07.01.2022 3 Years for MCE ... This year was certainly a quick year and another busy year. As always I would like to thank all my customers, friends and family for their support. Without you guys this business doesn't exist! Cheers :)

06.01.2022 Another ensuite renovation completed for a regular customer who had their main bathroom renovated 5 months ago. A second power point circuit was added to the sink, new gimble downlights with a 60 degree beam angle to provide point lighting in the small area and the old exhaust fan changed out for a new square one which was then plumbed to an external vent under the eaves. Once again I was proud to be a part of this build and stay tuned for a possible kitchen renovation next year :)

06.01.2022 A good way to save power and upgrade the look of your home is replacing the old "double halogen" spotlight for a new LED version. The customer chose a LED spotlight with 3 moveable heads which has vastly improved the lighting for their entertainment area and provided light where it is required.

05.01.2022 A big thank you to Amy (Stone Services QLD) for the nice post on "Your Mount Cotton". It was a pleasure getting your house into order and ready for sale. Simple things like lighting upgrades, switch replacements and smoke alarm replacements with compliance make it a real eye catcher. All the best with your sale :).

05.01.2022 A big thanks to the team at Cetnaj Redland Bay for the new work shirts for the kids ... I am sure they will grow into them ... soon

05.01.2022 Two different customers with two different requirements for outdoor lighting. One customer wanted to upgrade all of their external Halogen sensor lights to LED sensor lights to reduce power consumption. While the other customer wanted useable LED lighting for above their BBQ area and outdoor patio. Little upgrades around the house can make quite the difference.

03.01.2022 A customer recently had a new patio with LED lighting fitted however the lighting was never connected. I was able to run in a new circuit, upgrade the wall switch and connect all the LED lighting making it fully operational. The end result was exactly what the customer was looking for.

03.01.2022 A customer wanted to upgrade all their standard existing fans in their house by changing them all out to Moonah fans with integrated LED lights that they purchased from Beacon Lighting at Capalaba. The old fans were promptly removed and the new units installed with the extra wiring for the lighting circuits added in. The finished result lifts the look of each room and increased the air flow as well.

02.01.2022 Something a little bit different for a change ... I was contacted about completing an Inverter installation to a recently purchased New Age Camper. After working out the circuit requirements Cheyne from (Wynnum Car Electrics) purchased, installed, connected and tested the Inverter 12Vdc circuit. The 240Vac portion required all the external circuit to be run in metallic, flexible conduit with the addition of a robust load centre and circuit breaker (RCBO) for trip protection. The finished installation was very neat and enables the customer to always have a source of 240Vac available.

02.01.2022 A customer contacted me about installing some pendant lights they purchased from Beacon Lighting at Capalaba in the recent sales. After discussing pendant spacing and drop length options with the customer we set about making it all happen. The finished product looks fantastic and the warm white LED bulbs are perfectly suited to the colour of the benchtops.

02.01.2022 A customer had a little nook that wasn't being used so they wondered what could be done with it to make it useable? A double power point with double USB capability was added on the rear wall to allow charging of their iPhones and iPads. Sometimes a simple little changeover makes things that little bit easier.

02.01.2022 As part of a shed renovation the customers wanted sensor lighting under their rear patio to pick up any late night movements. They chose the LEDlux Helley II Twin LED Spot Light from Beacon Lighting at Capalaba. The spot lights can be easily adjusted to where the light is needed most and energy efficient compared to the Halogen types.
