22.01.2022 YEAR 12 FORMAL UPDATE FROM THOMAS MALE, SCHOOL CAPTAIN Today Jade and I attended a meeting with Ms Brown and Mr Cherry to explore options for a revised Year 12 formal. Over the last week, along with Maddy and Luke, our Vice Captains, we have been in communication with the school to see what ideas we can come up with to allow the graduation to go ahead within current restrictions and government guidelines. Whilst at this stage we can not formally announce any set plans as we ...are still waiting on updates from the SA Government around COVID restrictions, we are hoping to have our graduation on Friday 18 December. This could consist of a formal ceremony to receive our Graduation Certificates in front of family and then following that, a students only three course meal with speeches and other formalities. Please keep this date free for now and as soon as we can confirm a date, venue and formalities we will be in touch via the school Facebook page. On behalf of Jade, Maddy and Luke I want to thank my fellow year 12 students for being patient during this uncertain time. There has been a lot to work through and we look forward to hopefully being able to finish our 2020 school year on a high.

02.01.2022 Last Friday a select number of students from years 9 to 10 participated in 'Generations of Change', an interactive Anti-Racism seminar. The day was successful as well as confronting. Students were challenged to question bias and racism, and allowed time to discuss how to overcome these challenges. Suggestions were made as to what we could do better at Mount Gambier High School to support our students to challenge community and institutional racism, an incredibly important conversation to have, especially during NAIDOC week. The students pushed themselves and their understandings to speak up, challenge their assumptions and act in the interactive play component. It was an amazing day to be a part of, with some students wanting to start an anti-racism committee here at the school.
