25.01.2022 After 60 years of powering Mount Isa, Mica Creek Power Station will shut their power off tomorrow morning, 1 January 2021. As the end of an era closes in Mount Isa City Council and Mayor Danielle Slade would like to thank Stanwell and it's employees for keeping the lights on in Mount Isa for all these years. Powering large mine sites, residential homes and keeping the lights on for local businesses, the Mica Creek Power Station will remain a piece of Mount Isa History for years to come. 25.01.2022 Mount Isa Waste Facility has Temporarily Closed Mount Isa City Council’s waste facility has been closed today due to unforeseen operational issues. This has meant access to the site may be limited. Council is endeavouring to have the facility functioning as soon as is possible and apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

25.01.2022 Have you been past the Civic Centre recently? Our crews are putting on the finishing touches to the community Christmas Tree now! After setting up the frame, branches, star and fairy lights yesterday, today was all about artfully placing the colourful decorations and baubles onto the tree. The Christmas Tree lighting will be livestreamed from our Facebook account on Wednesday, November 18, from 6.30pm.... And our Christmas Carols event will be held at the Buchanan Park Arena on Friday, December 4, from 6pm. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

24.01.2022 NEW YEARS EVE FIREWORKS ! Enjoy two FIREWORKS shows for New Years Eve! The Main Show from 9pm and another at Midnight, pull up a chair or watch from the Buchanan Park carpark! ... Fireworks will launch from Reservoir 3 hill (next to Lookout)

24.01.2022 Feral or stray cats can sometimes be a problem in the CBD. Council hires out cat traps to members of the public or businesses for a deposit of $70 (this is fully refundable once the trap has been returned in good condition). Simply contact us and once a trap becomes available, a Local Laws team member will contact you to let you know it can be collected from the Animal Management Facility at 21 Richardson Road.... Please note that cat traps can only be set on private land. Once a cat is trapped, it can be brought to the AMF for impounding, and the trap returned. Or you can call Council during business hours and a Local Laws ranger will collect it from you. If a cat is trapped outside of business hours, you can transfer it into the holding pens located at the front of the AMF. Roller blinds are being installed on the holding pens this week, to reduce the heat and sunlight on the animals and pens. For more information, please call Local Laws on 4747 3200.

19.01.2022 Drinking Water Alert Lifted in Camooweal Mount Isa City Council advises residents of Camooweal that, following the completion of the upgrade of the chlorine-dosing facility of the Camooweal Water Scheme, the boil-water notice has now been lifted. This notice applies to all the residents in Camooweal from today, January 7.... Following the upgrade and subsequent water quality testing, the quality of drinking water is now safe for all typical uses, including drinking, preparing food and beverage, personal washing, dish washing, laundry purposes and flushing toilets. Residents should flush out affected water from the pipes in their home and disinfect the inside and outside of taps, if flooded. Residents are asked to share this notice with their neighbours and friends, especially with those who may not get this notice directly. 19.01.2022 The Waste Management section wishes to advise that, due to wet weather, bins located on dirt roads and dirt driveways will need to be positioned as close to the sealed road as possible to avoid the risk of waste trucks becoming bogged when servicing these bins.

17.01.2022 Great Signs for Mount Isa Tourism on the Cards New highway billboards and informative and interpretive signage will soon be seen popping up around Mount Isa thanks to funding Council has received from the Queensland Government. Council has been awarded $114,814 by the Department of State Development, Tourism and Innovation to upgrade tourism and interpretive signage across the city.... The project includes refacing Outback at Isa’s billboards on the entry points into town, as well as taking over ownership of current signage in need of maintenance, such as the information signs on Tharrapatha Way that provide insights into local native wildlife, the environment and Indigenous culture. New interpretive signage throughout the city will highlight some of Mount Isa’s newest art installations. 12.01.2022 ROAD CLOSURE NOTIFICATION - Lake Julius Road Please be advised that the Barbara Copper Operation site, off Lake Julius Road remains isolated due to flooding on the East Leichardt river. The site TARP level has reduced to level 2 (yellow). The East Leichardt crossing will be repaired in coming days, once the water levels in the river drop. Road maintenance will recommence when the Lake Julius and Greenback roads are accessible.... Reopening the road may take a few days, from my understanding, no action from Council is required at this point. Just a general advice that Lake Julius Road is currently closed.

05.01.2022 The Lead Alliance is excited to announce we will be launching the LEADSmart Literacy Program to the Mount Isa Community from 10.00am-12.00pm(noon) at the... Mount Isa Neighbourhood Centre on Wednesday January, 20, 2021. The launch will consist of three interactive storytelling sessions showcasing the Very Hungry Caterpillar storybook and each session will run for approximately 25 minutes.
