06.01.2022 Summer is just around the corner! With the weather heating up, it's important to keep your fur babies comfortable and safe. Some tips include: Doggy poles! Freeze treats in ice cube trays, or in an old ice-cream container, fill with water and freeze, and give to your pets before you go out. This help keeps your dog cool and occupied for hours... Removing the core from an apple and putting smooth peanut butter in the middle then freezing is also a good treat! Having a shell pool filled with fresh water can also be a lot of fun! Cooling mats or collars- For animals who aren’t fussed on water or frozen treats. You store in the fridge until you’re ready to use. Pictured is a puppy adopted from the Pound enjoying a cooling mat at his new furever home with his brother!

04.01.2022 Did you know? It’s the Law to keep your cat on its own property? Under Mount Isa City Council Local Laws 2 It is the owners Duty to provide an adequate enclosure and prevent animals from wandering.... Cats are self-sufficient creatures; however, they are required to be contained on your property. Whether that be inside the house or a special cat enclosure. WHY I SHOULD KEEP MY CAT INSIDE: Reducing the risk of sickness and/or injuries Minimising the risk to Native Wildlife Avoiding problems with neighbours Preventing unwanted litters of kittens Giving them a better chance to enjoy a longer, healthier life Here are a few tips/ facts below to keep your cat entertained inside! Did you know mint is a close relative to catnip? In small quantities, a mint leaf or two can be a tasty treat. Egg cartons are ready-made feeder puzzles Your cat will need to crack the puzzle to get the food, which helps with mental stimulation. Simply scatter a few cat biscuits in the egg carton and watch them find the bickies!!! Provide a kitty hideaway Every cat needs a hiding spot where they can go to feel safe. Buy an enclosed cat condo/ tower or make your own using a cardboard box with a small hole cut out. Pictured is a Rescue cat with three legs at his at his Furever home with his new sister.
