19.01.2022 Our first lunch was held yesterday for Indigenous Grandmothers who are the primary care givers of their grandchildren. What a great lunch and what a privilege to be part of these amazing elders and get to hear their yarns about the past, present and future. Thank you ladies! A special thanks to Denise who put the day together and make it so enjoyable! If you or someone you know of is interested in joining the group or needs assistance please call Denise on 47434506. And also, Clever Cook-Ups is still going!

08.01.2022 What a spicy aroma that emanated from the kitchen yesterday morning as Jacob and Merle cooked a simply wonderful dish of spiced ribs with sticky glaze. The taste was amazing, very sweet and spicy and the ribs were cooked to perfection. If you wish to join a cooking class call Denise at the Neighbourhood Centre 47434506 or 0472720883. There is no cost and transport is provided although we cannot cater for children in the classes. Spiced Lamb Ribs with Sticky Glaze cup s...umac (middle eastern spice) (we used lemon pepper but only 3 dessert spoons) cup ground cumin 2 tspns crushed chilli flakes 1 tbspn paprika 3 cloves garlic, sliced (we used 2 tspns minced garlic) Finely grated zest and juice of a lemon 1.6kg lamb riblets (we used pork ribs) cup honey cup ketchup manis Finely chopped coriander to serve Sesame Rice 4 cups cooked white rice 3 spring onions finely sliced 1tbspn sesame seeds, toasted. 2 tspns sesame oil. Combine the sumac, cumin, chilli flakes, paprika, garlic, lemon zest and juice then rub into the lamb ribs. Place 2 tbspns oil in bottom of fry pan and gently fry ribs then turn down heat, cover with lid and cook for 40mins. When cooking time is complete, let ribs stand for 5 mins then move onto a serving platter. In the pan add honey and ketchup manis and cook on low heat for 5 mins or until heated through then pour over ribs and sprinkle with coriander. Rice take just cooked rice and combine with spring onions, sesame oil and seeds then place in serving dish. Recipe from Philips All in one Cooker Cook Book
