03.02.2022 Just in case you were wondering about our hours of operation over the festive season. We'd like to spend it with our families so please ensure if you are camping that you are following safe practices, not flicking any cigarettes out the windows whilst driving, putting out camp fires once you are done, and cleaning up debris around your yard. Have a safe and happy holiday everyone.... #mountisarurals #mirfb #mirfboperatinghours #haveasafeandhappyholidays

25.01.2022 Today we were honoured as a Brigade to be nominated and receive The Spirit of Mount Isa Award 2020 for our contribution towards the devastating bushfires in NSW. Our brigade has had the privilege of being able to support the communities that were ravaged by the horrific bushfires throughout NSW by deploying firefighters from our brigade over the last 2-3 months to be on the fire line and help where we could. Our Brigade firefighters are all volunteers who give freely of t...heir time to train so we are able to not only help with fighting bushfires in our community, but across Australia as well as around the world if we are needed. It was an experience that opened our eyes and also grew our family. We worked along side firefighters from all over Australia, New Zealand, Canada and America. The bonds and friendships we made while away representing the Queensland Rural Fire Service and Mount Isa as a community made us proud to call Mount Isa home and showcase the kind of community we come from. We would like to thank those that nominated the Mount Isa Rural Fire Brigade. To all the nominees today and recipients Congratulations. To our Mount Isa Rural Brigade Firefighters and our families who show their endless support towards us and the work that we do, thank you. We will continue to serve and show our support to the Mount Isa Community and to our fellow fire fighter brothers and sisters both here and afar.

25.01.2022 A massive thank you to Alliance Safety Group in Mount Isa for their support to our Mount Isa Rural Fire Brigade team with much needed supplies. The team that have deployed send their thanks for your generosity and the supplies that will be put to use while they are on the fire line in New South Wales.

19.01.2022 ISA FIRIES BACK HOME Earlier this week we introduced you to the Mount Isa firefighters who had returned back home after assisting with the bushfires in New South Wales. Click through the photos to see what they said about their time away.

19.01.2022 NORTH QUEENSLAND FIRIES HEADING SOUTH Eighteen volunteer firefighters from North Queensland have left Townsville Airport to join the bushfire effort i...n New South Wales. The group, which includes personnel from Magnetic Island and Mount Isa, will be deployed until Monday. RFS officer Robyn Bowering says the team is eager to help their fatigued colleagues on the fire ground. "It's an unprecedented event it's heartbreaking what we've seen on the news," she says. "And when people are hurting, I suppose it's just the Australian way - we want to be there and help." Josh Woolfe was granted a week of paid leave from his day job to volunteer his skills. "I've got a young daughter and my wife wasn't terribly keen on me going," he says. "But I know we have a good crew, we're all trained, and the want to help out your fellow firies is there, so it was a calculated decision but one that's not made lightly." The volunteer firefighters received an anonymous donation of neckties before boarding the plane. : Horseshoe Bay Rural Fire Brigade

15.01.2022 Our 1st Officer Gaven is in Townsville this weekend with one of our firefighters Patrick broadening their knowledge and skills on the AIIMS course. Maddie and Jack, who are also firefighters in our brigade, are also with them representing our Mount Isa SES team. As we come from such a remote part of Queensland, the majority of our brigade members are also Mount Isa SES members. We all train, attend community events and are present at incidents together, supporting each other ...and our community in times of need. Have fun team, learn heaps, and be ready to share your new found knowledge with us when you get back. Thank you to our Area Offices, both Rural and SES, and the training teams in the background for allowing Mount Isa to be apart of this training. We look forward to being able to have the opportunity to send more of our members to these training opportunities in the future. 12.01.2022 What an awesome community we have here in Mount Isa. We spent the morning at Golden Oaks Boxing and Fitness who held a fundraiser to raise money for the Outback Knockout Bush Fire Appeal. Even though we are a small community in good old outback Australia, being here this morning to represent all our fellow firefighters was an honour and just shows how much support and dedication the Mount Isa people have when our Country is faced with such devastating disasters! ... A big thank you to the Golden Oaks Boxing and Fitness team and all those in the community for your generosity and your big hearts in coming together this morning! From us, the Mount Isa Rural Fire Brigade and also on behalf of all our fellow firefighter brothers and sister across Australia - Thank You!

06.01.2022 The Mount Isa Rural Fire Brigade and Queensland Fire and Rescue will be conducting a hazard reduction burn today along the Leichhardt River. We ask that the public be aware of our firefighters and vehicles when out and about today. The hazard reduction burn-off is expected to create a significant amount of smoke. We advise that people in the affected areas not put washing on the line, and keep their windows and doors closed.... If you have any breathing problems, please ensure you have your medication on stand by. Should you start to feel short of breath, call 000.
