Images with children in school... uniform, their name or indicators of their location in the background can be used by offenders to build a profile and groom parents and children. The AFP is continuing to regularly seize images of children in the collections of online child sex offenders. The AFP has said if you do post to lock down your privacy settings. Community or school social media pages featuring children are also being urged to consider the types of images being shared and who can view them. See more

08.01.2022 SEXUAL ASSAULT REFORM Victims of sexual assault can now have a forensic examination at the Mount Isa Hospital without having to go through police. The State ...Government reforms give victims more time to consider if they wish to make a formal complaint to police. Emergency Physician Doctor Julia De Boos said the hospital can assist with unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases and counselling support. But she said while swabs can be stored at the hospital for up to 12 months, delaying the police investigation means the crime scene and evidence could be destroyed.

The forums wi...ll focus on the Youth Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2021, being considered by the Legal Affairs and Safety Committee. Some of the Bill proposals: trialing the use of electronic monitoring devices as a condition of bail in some geographical areas for some offenders aged 16 and 17 if they commit certain crimes and have been previously found guilty of one or more indictable offences; creating a presumption against bail for youth offenders for certain offences while on bail for an indictable offence; introducing the principle that offending while in the custody of a parent, or at large with or without bail, aggravates the offence being considered by the court when sentencing the youth offender; amending hooning laws to extend the responsibility of the owner of a vehicle to cover a range of offences. 01.01.2022 #UPDATE 5.40AM: Katherine Gildea, who was missing from Mount Isa has been found safe and well. ------------------ MISSING WOMAN Police are seeking ur...gent public assistance to help locate a 41-year-old woman reported missing from Mount Isa last Friday. Katherine Gildea (pictured) was last seen leaving a Raven Cres address at around 11pm on Friday, February 21. She was last seen driving her vehicle described as a grey, two door 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero bearing New South Wales registration BEU 60B. Police and family are concerned for Katherine’s welfare as she resides interstate (NSW) and is not familiar with the Mount Isa area. Katherine is described as Caucasian, about 190cm tall, slim, freckles on her face and red hair. She was last seen wearing a black singlet and black knee length skirt. Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen Katherine and/or her vehicle to contact police.

Sergeant Lisa Hillary said Mount Isa still has rates of domestic violence five times the state average, with 526 orders breached last year and 482 applications for orders.
