24.01.2022 Since finding out 2 years ago that MMGC would host the 2020 Robinson Cup golf tournament and after many sleepless nights, it all came to fruition on the weekend. Many hours had been put into seeking sponsorships, preparing the course, organising equipment in readiness for 3 days of fun and at times mayhem. Clubs from as far north as Moranbah, west to Springsure & south to Miriam Vale & 1770 sent teams to compete for the Cup which has been played for since 1935. MMGC was one o...f the original clubs along with Rockhampton, Gladstone & Mackay. Local hotels, caravan parks & businesses benefitted from the weekend as some team stayed the whole weekend in town. As Secretary of the club, I would like to express my appreciation to all who gave up hours & hours of their time (too many to name individually), VOLUNTARILY to make the tournament run as smoothly as possibly (we even had non members of the club come and help and some travelled a distance to be here). We have a brilliant committee/team at the club and although at times things got a little testy it was all put behind us for the good of the club and we succeeded (when some thought it couldn't be done) in getting a record 176 players through before dark. Special mention must go to all our sponsors for without their support, we could not have run this tournament. They will be thanked individually, when I recover from the weekend. Onward and upward, our next big tournament is the CQ Sand Green Carnival on 14-15 November 2020 followed by the popular Wally Hall Memorial 3 Person Ambrose day on Saturday 28th November 2020.

23.01.2022 The 2021 golfing season Tees off Sunday 17th Jan with the first Monthly Medal of the year. Following golf there will be a General meeting to discuss upcoming events including Australia Day Novelty Ambrose & Ladies & Men's Open Championships on 13/14 Feb.

21.01.2022 Mt Morgan GC Hole No 4 (Par 3 177 metres) was nominated as one of the best No 4 holes in Australia in Inside Golf magazine. Unfortunately we didn't make the final cut. Thanks Scotty for the nomination.

20.01.2022 Due to popular demand, Thursday Club will be teeing off in 2020 next Thursday 16th January at 7AM. Compulsory Tee Up will be enforced as the course is very very dry and we need to save the little bit of grass that is there!! some ideas for tees are pieces of hose or plastic bottle tops Please pass this on to those without Facebook access.

15.01.2022 On Australia Day, Tuesday 26th January 2021 the club is holding a novelty 2 person ambrose event over 9, 13 or 18 holes (your choice). Tee off will be between 9:00 & 9:30 with a sausage sizzle provided for lunch. It's a fun day with some of the different events being, Tee off using a cricket bat, tee of opposite handed, tee off with a pirates patch over one eye, tee off with an extra long, very whippy driver, tee off while standing on one leg & tee off while standing on a car tyre. Various prizes on off so come along and have a bit of fun & a cold beer.

12.01.2022 Thanks to all who participated in yesterdays Corporate 3 Person Ambrose. A massive thank you also goes to the Grand Hotel for your sponsorship of the day. Your support is greatly appreciated. The winning team "The Old Guns" consisted of Rob Lindley, Glen Watt & Lance Antcliff. Their Nett score of 52 1/3 was just good enough to beat "The Young Guns" (Shai Pearce, Josh & Shaun Antcliff) with 52 2/3. Best dressed team was The Grand Hotel (Di, Casey & Tonita Browne)

11.01.2022 The Golf Club's buggy shed was broken into some time over the weekend. 2 Stihl chainsaws, 5 buggy batteries & a 10 litre jerry can full of fuel were taken. Keep an eye out for anyone selling chainsaws.
