23.01.2022 Waste Notice for Wilmington Residents: Council has become aware that the additional recycling bin collection scheduled for Friday 20 Nov did not occur yesterday due to the contractor (Veolia) not making it to the area. The contractor (Veolia) will be returning on Monday 23 Nov 2020 to redo this area at no charge. This remains to be one-off collection from Veolia as Clare Valley Waste are the new waste contractors now. ... For Wilmington area residents please leave your recycling bins out for Monday. Council sincerely apologises for the delays and confusion caused by these waste contractors over the past week and are doing their best to rectify these issues. For more information regarding other bin collections, please contact Clare Valley Waste directly on 0438 884 340. If you do wish to specifically speak to Council regarding your bin collection, please do so during office hours via phone at 08 8666 2014 or email at [email protected] to ensure that your query/request is received, recorded and delegated to the appropriate staff member. 21.01.2022 Do you consider yourself to be proficient in governance? Are you someone that seeks to set new standards in governance and help others succeed? If this sounds like you, then we want to hear from you. The District Council of Mount Remarkable has recently endorsed a terms of reference to establish a Governance Advisory Panel. As part of this panel, Council is requesting three independent members to help form the panel, of which one will be appointed by Council as the Chair.... The District Council of Mount Remarkable is positioned in the heart of the developing Southern Flinders Ranges, and is currently embarking on organisational transformation. If you would like to be a part of this transformation, and assist Council in ensuring it can be the best it can be; and set new stands in governance, then this is a role for you. The Governance Advisory Panel (GAP) is established for the purpose of assisting Council to fulfill their governance duties. The purpose of the GAP is the provide independent advice and observations to Council on: - the governance and legislative framework, policies and processes; - matters pertaining to conflict of interest; - alleged breaches of the Elected Member Code of Conduct; - performance of Council’s Section 41 Committees; and - integrity of governance. The District Council of Mount Remarkable is seeking applications from suitably qualified people to perform the role of Governance Advisory Panel Member (3 required). 14.01.2022 Fire Danger Season for Mount Remarkable region begins 1 November 2020 This means that all township properties need to be cleared and tidied up from this date. Please note that Council Fire Prevention Inspections have been pushed back a week due to the wet weather and will begin 10 November 2020.

13.01.2022 Reflections in Alligator Gorge, Mount Remarkable National Park. It's been said before and we'll say it again - Mount Remarkable NP does truly live up to its nam...e. Alligator Gorge is not too far outside the town of Wilmington, and boasts incredible scenery, wildlife and a fantastic loop walk through the belly of it. The ring route will take about 4 hours to complete so make sure you pack some water and good hiking shoes. Tag us in your photos on your next visit, just like @mb_photography03 (IG) did!

12.01.2022 Bin Collection Update: The new waste contract (Bin Collection) is experiencing some minor issues around waste collection days. Wednesdays collection in and around Wirrabara previously scheduled, has changed to Monday as from today. Those residents who may have missed this service can put bins out Tuesday night for a Wednesday collection (this week only). ... Council apologises for any inconvenience this may have cause to residents. Due also to an error made by Clare Valley Waste, the previous waste calendar that was posted on Councils website and Facebook has now been replaced with an updated version. (see calendar below) An interim service starting Monday 16th November till Friday 27th November 2020 has commenced and its schedule found below. A new calendar starting Monday 30th November has been completed with the only change being the Wednesday collection day for General Waste being changed to a Tuesday (first Tuesday collection being 1st December 2020). Council is in the process of printing new calendars that will be made available soon. If you require confirmation on your bin pick up please contact Clare Valley Waste on 0438 884 340 New collection schedule from Monday 16th November to Friday 27th November 2020 is found below, along with the collection schedule for Monday 30th November 31 December 2021.

09.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE: Appointment of Mayor and Deputy Mayor Council at its meeting on 17 November 2020 sought nominations for the appointment of Mayor and Deputy Mayoral positions. Previous Mayor, Councillor Phillip Heaslip was nominated and elected unopposed to the position of Mayor for another two year term.... The Council appointed Cr Don Norton to the position of Deputy Mayor. Council wishes to thank and acknowledge the work of former Deputy Mayor Cr Barry Richards, who for the past two years has served the role and the community both passionately and strongly. Both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor have been appointed by Council until the next scheduled general election. Congratulations to Mayor Heaslip and Deputy Mayor Norton! Council is committed to listening to the ideas and concerns of all rate payers and community members in order to make improvements and allow transparency in the Council.

02.01.2022 Community Waste Notice: Council would like to announce that on Monday 16 November 2020 the new waste contractors, Clare Valley Waste will commence. You will notice on the calendar below that the general waste days are the same, however the recycle days have changed. An extra zone has been added for the Transfer Station open days. ... Council are currently awaiting hard copy calendars and they will be made available at each major town and Council office.
