23.01.2022 After learning about homelessness during Community Service lessons, the Year 8 cohort participated in a workshop run by Madelyn Jones and Gali Blacher, the founders of The Good Box. @thegoodboxenterprise is a social enterprise that creates and distributes care packages to people who are homeless. Madelyn and Gali developedtheir businessin order to provide a platform for people who wanted to help homeless people, but were unsure if giving money was the best option. Madelyn ...and Gali enlightened students with the facts and figures regarding homelessness in Australia. They also shared the power and importance of face to face communication. Boxes are given to recipientsby a member of The Good Box team with a handwritten message. Both these elements aimingto improve the morale of the recipient, who may be feeling isolated from the community. The workshop ended with students writing letters that will accompany boxes that will go out to people in need. #CommunityandService #Gettingthroughthistogether

21.01.2022 Last week our Year 7 Students travelled back in time to ancient Egypt. Students dressed up in a touch of Egypt and participated in a wide range of activities including fruit mummification, Masterchef - Ancient Egypt, replicating Rosetta Stone creations, engineering ancient water clocks and participating in an Egyptian makeup tutorial. Favourites were the 'Who wants to be a Pharaoh' trivia quiz game and the Papyrus Making Masterclass. Students also completed challenges on their own or in small groups throughout the day, such as creating model pyramids and pharaoh's crowns, calculating Ancient Egyptian algebra and writing messages in hieroglyphs. The day was an engaging way to consolidate their learning in Humanities, while having some great fun. #ExcellenceinLearning #Gettingthroughthistogether
