23.01.2022 AGM AND MAYOR'S PRESENTATION POSTPONED Hello Mount Stuart Residents Unfortunately we have had to postpone our AGM at the Mount Stuart Community Hall as advertised in the March Newsletter. This is very regrettable because our Mayor Anna Reynolds was going to attend and present a session on sustainability projects in Hobart.... But as you probably have guessed Covid 19 prevents us gathering. More about future plans when possible. Megan Hale from the Mount Stuart Residents Committee

21.01.2022 THANK YOU! Yesterday's Mount Stuart Community Carols was an outstanding success. Our Mount Stuart Memorial Hall was filled to capacity with local families displaying a wonderful exuberance and christmas spirit. This event, organised by the Mount Stuart Residents Association, could not be possible without the support of the following individuals and organisations: City of Hobart; Mount Stuart Primary; Owen, Karen, Janet, Brett and Barney from the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra; The Fuschia House Ukulele Group; GK Productions Australia; Lenah Valley Fire Brigade; Mount Stuart Scout Group; St John Ambulance Australia; & Monotone Art Printers. Thanks to all these wonderful organisations, and to the residents of Mount Stuart for turning out and showing your support. We're looking forward to next year's event!
21.01.2022 CORRECTION! In the previous post about the postponement of the Mount Stuart Residents AGM which had been announced for 26th March, I gave an incorrect name for the mayor. She is of course Anna Reynolds not Kingston. I apologise! Megan Hale

19.01.2022 There's an upcoming open Garden in Mount Stuart! Wasatch is located at 25 Toorak Avenue and the garden is a hidden gem. It covers nearly an acre and is situated less than 3 km from central Hobart. Until 20 years ago much of this was undeveloped, and now boasts an amazing array of Spring flowering trees and shrubs including rhododendrons, camellias and magnolias to name a few, as well as a range of rare and unusual plants. The garden will be open for one day only to help raise... funds for the Claremont Golf Club. This is the first time this garden has been open to the public. Details Sunday, 25 October 2020 10:00AM - 4:00PM $10 adults, kids under 16 free. Complimentary Tea/Coffee, https://www.myopengarden.com.au/openGarden.jsp
12.01.2022 Tonight! Carol's at Mount Stuart Hall. Doors open at 5:30pm for a 6:30pm. Come down and enjoy this free community event.
10.01.2022 An easy and available way for us to be safe together apart.
10.01.2022 Mount Stuart, almost uniquely, has an extensive network of paths and steps, created when the suburb was first laid out for residents that mostly didn't drive. Many of these paths are well known, while others get little use. Member of the Mount Stuart Residents' Inc, David, set himself the challenge of walking the stairs and paths of Mount Stuart one way as an exercise activity. He reports back:... "I managed it! I planned my route out beforehand. It took me 2 hrs 45 mins (!!) and I estimate about 11 km walking lots of loops and re-climbing of the hill to maintain the One Way rule. My route crossed itself several times but the only bit of backtrack I couldn’t avoid covering twice was at the top of the Leonard Wall Reserve. One of the sections between Darling Pde and Benjafield Tce is still closed for reconstruction. I suggest walking the pathway from Elizabeth St to Mortimer Ave from the Mortimer Ave end (between Nos 18 and 20). The lower portion is shared with a driveway, but if you walk straight on down the fenced route you remain on the public right of way. The pathway that used to link to bottom of Una Street to Swan Street has been closed off by a fence, so I have removed it from the map. There are two routes that are technically outside Mt Stuart boundaries: The steps from the Lake Fenton Pipeline Track down to Bimbadeen Crt, and the pathway from Lower Jordan Hill Road to Swan Street. Several other paths and steps begin within Mt Stuart and link to streets outside the suburb boundary." Why not try this challenge yourself? Do it in one day(!) or plan it out over several days. Please take photos and share in the comments below, and share and tag Mount Stuart residents you think would enjoy this challenge. We look forward to seeing the results!

08.01.2022 Have you lost your keys?? A Hyundai key and two Lockwood keys have been found at the Hall. If you think these keys are yours, please call Eric on 0409 285 743. ... Please share this post to help the owner get their keys back.
06.01.2022 Last night the Mount Stuart Residents Inc. and Mount Stuart Hall Inc. held their AGMs in the Mount Stuart Memorial Hall. The Committees were pleased to award a Life Membership to Eric Pinkard. Eric's involvement in the hall and the residents group began soon after moving to the suburb in 1982. He has continuously and actively held positions on the committee since then, including a total of around 24 years as Treasurer. Eric is the primary driver of maintenance and upgrades at... the hall and his work is greatly appreciated by all who use the hall. Linley Grant was also awarded a Life Membership of the Committees. Mrs Grant's involvement with the hall and the residents group began in 1976, and has been ongoing since then. She has served in a number of roles in the organisation, and is still an active member of the Committee (while preferring to meet via Zoom these days!). The Committees and community of Mount Stuart thank Mr Pinkard and Mrs Grant for their outstanding service. Thank you too to Rob Valentine for presenting Mr Pinkard's award and Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds for awarding Mrs Grant's award, as well as giving a presentation of sustainability.
04.01.2022 You may have seen some teddy bears in windows of people's homes, inspired by the Children's book 'We’re Going on a Bear Hunt', by Michael Rosen. Teddy bears have popped up in windows around Mount Stuart for children to spot. Have you put a bear in your window? Where abouts in Mount Stuart are you? Please post a photo and tag others below that may go bear hunting through our streets. https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-bear-hunts-ar/12085168
03.01.2022 A Mount Stuart resident has noticed hearing a 'rumbling sound' since the beginning of the year, but can't identify its location or what is causing it. Has anyone else heard it, or have any clue where it could be coming from?
01.01.2022 ****DOG FOUND BENTLEY ROAD**** Is anyone missing this gorgeous, friendly, little grunting girl... She showed up at my neighbours house at 1am, he looked after her. She came to visit me this morning. Bentley Road Lenah Valley. Will post on the lost pet page also.
