18.01.2022 National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to say a very BIG THANK YOU to all volunteers who give their time to helping their communities when we need them most.... The 2019/20 fire season brought incredible challenges, which we couldn’t have faced without the critical role of CFA volunteers. CFA volunteers are our friends and family and take on many roles to fulfil our mission of protecting life and property. Thank you, not only this week but the 365 days of the year you are there for each and every one of us!

14.01.2022 It’s been a tough few months here in Victoria, especially in Melbourne and if any year needs some early Christmas cheer, it really is 2020! So as our little wa...y spread some early Christmas cheer, we got together with our friends at FRV, VicPol, AV, SES, & FFMV. We work as one, and we make flashy light Christmas videos as one! We hope you all enjoy our video, have a smile and then have yourselves a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! Starring: CFA (Country Fire Authority), Fire Rescue Victoria, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Victoria State Emergency Service and Forest Fire Management Victoria. Created by CFA Member Adam Kamenek. A special thanks to Simon VDV, FRV Station 84 (B shift), South Warrandyte CFA as well as all the other emergency service members that came along (COVID safe of course) and helped film on the night. Main music track: Wizards In Winter by Trans Siberian Orchestra - Permitted use under licensing by Facebook / Facebook Music. #ThankYouVictoria #HaveSomeEarlyXmasSmiles #WeLikeFlashyLights #EmergencyServicesLightShow

10.01.2022 Victoria is one of the most fire prone areas in the world. If you live near areas that have significant bush, forest, long grass, or coastal scrub, then you need to plan ahead for the fire season.

09.01.2022 Tomorrow evening, Wednesday the 29th April at 5:40 pm, like many other CFA brigades across Victoria the Mount Taylor Fire Brigade will sound our sirens four times. Each siren sounding will represent and honour the brave Victoria Police Officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Kew at 5:40 pm Wednesday 22nd April 2020. If you can hear our sirens at 5:40pm tomorrow, there is no reason to be alarmed. We encourage community members to utilise this time to take a momen...t to reflect and remember the sacrifice made by these brave officers who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. You can add your individual condolences to the Victoria Police In Memoriam page here; https://bit.ly/2x5MqG4

08.01.2022 Today CFA brigades were called to a number of out-of-control burn-offs If you're using the great weather to clean-up your property for fire season, make sure ...you conduct your burn-off safely. A burn-off, if not extinguished properly can re-ignite days after the original burn. Keep your burn-off safe and legal: Check fire restrictions with your local council and register your burn on 1800 668 511 Check and monitor weather conditions particularly wind To avoid unnecessary calls to emergency services, notify your neighbours beforehand Leave a three metre fire break, free from flammable materials around the burn Have sufficient equipment and water to stop the fire spreading Never leave a burn-off unattended stay for its entire duration If your burn-off gets out of control, call ‘000’ immediately

06.01.2022 Did you know that approximately 10% of Victoria's bushfires are caused by campfires? To support the safety of Victorians, Conservation Regulator officers are pa...trolling popular campsites across the state, looking for unsafe campfires and educating the public. Before lighting a campfire, make sure you're familiar with the safety rules: https://www.ffm.vic.gov.au//CanICantIcampfireandbbqbrouchu In addition to campfire safely, remember to be COVIDSafe. This includes wearing a fitted face mask, practising physical distancing, ensuring proper hand hygiene including the use of hand sanitiser, and observing group size limits.

05.01.2022 As of 11.59PM this Sunday Night the 2nd of August all Victorians must wear a face covering when leaving home. As firefighters our masks have been a valuable aid to help keep us safe for many years so help protect yourself, your family and every single Victorian by covering up. Stay safe everyone. For more information - and for instructions on how to make your own mask visit https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus

05.01.2022 A key message coming from the CFA state Communication teams about existing rules pertaining to one of our major key messages for summer being: "Leaving early is the safest option on high risk bushfire day" Given that DHHS and current Covid-19 restrictions could cause some mixed communications particularly in those areas still in significant lock down. ... Leaving high bushfire risk areas early, before a fire starts, is always the safest option. If you can leave early, you should. DO NOT delay leaving early! Leaving early during COVID-19 will be a little different this summer. During coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, you can leave your home during an emergency or if your home is unsafe. Consider the following in your leave early plan to protect yourself and your loved ones against coronavirus (COVID-19): During COVID-19 restrictions you may travel if you are doing so as part of your bushfire plan. Some ‘Leave Early’ destinations may not be available due to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions. Cinemas and other public venues may be closed. If you plan to stay with relatives or friends when you leave early: Consider alternative arrangements if your plan is to stay with elderly relatives or immuno-compromised relatives or friends to reduce the risk of vulnerable people being exposed to coronavirus (COVID-19) Wear a face covering Practice good hygiene Wash or sanitize your hands when you enter someone else’s home if possible Do not shake hands, hug or kiss as a greeting Maintain physical distancing, keep at least 1.5 metres away from others Do not share food or drink. Do not share items like drink bottles, glasses, plates or cutlery If you are unwell or have symptoms isolate yourself from others, ensure you always wear a face covering and get tested as soon as possible. If you are in quarantine or isolation due to coronavirus, you can leave your home if you are in an emergency or your home is unsafe but try to get back into self-isolation as soon as you safely can. Alert emergency services that you are a close contact, have recently tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) or if you are experiencing symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) if you attend an emergency relief centre or Community Fire Refuge. Thank you

04.01.2022 For many months now our volunteers have adapted to ensure their skills have remained up-to-date during these trying times. They have also been undertaken basic maintenance of the vehicles at the station whilst still attending to those Emergency calls. BUT NOW that summer is approaching and restrictions are easing our members will be undertaking crucial training for the up coming fire season ahead. This means you will begin see us out and about running drills, practicing t...echniques and generally getting prepared for another fire season, all under strict COVID guidelines of course. Stay safe this summer by being prepared and make sure you're fire plan is up to date. More information can be found at: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/pla/how-to-prepare-your-property See more
