Yengo has a fascinating history, the trees in the garden are over 145yrs old, laid out by Charles Moore, the same guy who laid out the Sydney Botanical Gardens. 04.01.2022 The gardens were laid out by Charles Moore original Director of Sydney Botanical Garden in 1877, it was an experimental garden where trees were bought out from all over the world to see if they would grow in this cold climate. It was incredibly successful as the rich basalt soil of Mount Wilson helped the trees grow into huge specimens over the past 141 years.
