25.01.2022 This year's Naidoc week theme is "Always Was, Always Will Be" and it is a reminder to us at Mount Zero that the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk people always were and always will be the traditional owners of the land that we harvest in the Grampians Wimmera region. We would like to acknowledge this fact and pay respect to the first nations people in our region. We are privileged to work with the traditional owners of the Pink Lake in Dimboola, the Wotjob...aluk people, in the harvesting of salt. However, we acknowledge that this is only a very small step in our journey of recognition and reconciliation, and we hope that this small step is the first of many we can take in acknowledging and working with traditional owners in our region. #naidocweek #alwayswasalwayswillbe

14.01.2022 We LOVE our mixed olives, but they’re even better after a gentle massage with a generous dosage of Tasmanian native pepperberry + locally grown rosemary. It’s a bold treatment, but we think the earthy, aromatic and pleasantly zingy result is absolutely worth it @ Mount Zero Olives
12.01.2022 This month's Mount Zero Hero is chef Adam Wolfers, who made the move from Sydney to Brisbane in 2019 to lead the kitchen at Middle-Eastern-inspired venue, Gerard’s Bistro in Fortitude Valley. With stints as head chef of Monopole and Yellow, alongside other significant positions, he has become a magician of vegetable-forward menus. Hit the blog to read our full catch up with Adam and to check out the two *mouthwatering* recipes he has shared with us. Hint: there’s a Yemenite ...chickpea flour + potato pancake that you absolutely must add to your cooking repertoire https://mountzeroolives.com//mount-zero-hero-adam-wolfers-
10.01.2022 We often get asked what the difference is between green and black olives and the answer is: not much! As Rich explains here, the only difference between our bio-dynamic green and black manzanilla olives is simply a bit of time. We’ve completed our harvest (around 7 tonne) of green manzanilla olives and will now wait just a couple of weeks for the olives to turn before we start harvesting them again.... With that being said, some olive varieties are definitely better off just being picked and cured green (Gordal) or black (Kalamata) If you’ve got a tree full of olives at home and want to know how to cure them, keep your eyes peeled for a very exciting workshop that we will be announcing shortly, hosted by none other than this guy

Head over to our website for the recipe Thanks guys @bakerbleu

17.12.2021 Today, and every day, Mount Zero acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live, work and harvest: the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk people, represented by the Barengi Gadjin Land Council, and the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded. We'd like to take the opportunity to express our support for the Uluru Statement From the Heart,... which calls for a First Nations Voice to Parliament to be enshrined in the Australian Constitution. We encourage you to read up on the @ulurustatement campaign, which is currently asking its supporters to write to their local MP to request a referendum on this issue. With a federal election looming, now is an important time to take action. We're ready to vote 'Yes' on a First Nations Voice to Parliament. Are you? This week (24-30 January) 10% of proceeds from sales in our online shop will be donated to the Healing Foundation @healingourway, a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation that provides a platform to amplify the voices and lived experience of Stolen Generations survivors and their families. It's a way that we can offer our continued respect, acknowledgement and commitment to First Nations allyship. . . . #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #UluruStatement
29.11.2021 We would like to take the opportunity of this week and the upcoming Australia Day otherwise known as Survival or Invasion Day to reflect on 65,000 years of Aboriginal history in Australia and pay our respects. Each year, we work in respectful partnership with the Barengi Gadjin Land Council @bglc2005 to hand-harvest our Pink Lake Salt. The Council give us access, instruction and consultation in ways to minimise our impact on the land, and we do our best to repay this gift... through employment and payment. This image, an artwork by Aunty Nancy Harrison called 'Bush Tukka', adorns our salt packaging and speaks to the importance of the Wimmera River and wetland systems of the region, including the Pink Lake. We respect and acknowledge the continuing connection that First Nations people have with their lands and waters, right across the country. #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe
